Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2003 IIRC the 2 albums that are most universally revered in the metal community are The Jester Race and Colony. I don't know much about them but I feel reasonably confident that those 2 would be good starts. Just based on what I've heard from a ton of people.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2003 That pretty much sums up In Flames. Check out Colony, it is their greatest release.
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 Colony owns..it's the old standby in my car. Best track, imo, is "ordinary story". I really love the piano part. I'm a fan because of Crowe sending me a file called "only for the weak" about two years ago. (Y)
Guest whatitistoburn Report post Posted August 8, 2003 I'm guided by the Pinball Map. What the fuck is the Pinball Map anyway?
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted August 8, 2003 I've never understood what everyone sees in these guys.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 I think they are very good musically, and I like Anders' vocals. They're very catchy and write a lot of good song. As for their lyrics, they can both be positive and negative, which is good. Sometimes it seems that a lot of metal is about being angry and upset, which sometimes doesn't necessarily make the listener want to keep listening. I like my metal as violent and brutal as the next guy, but I sometimes like something different.
The Metal Maniac 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 Whoracle is another of their best CDs, for the record.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 Well, Agent, they don't just growl and play so fast with so much distortion you can't hear the "amazingly technical and complex" guitar parts they're playing. They're alright. Gothenburg has definitely run its course, but it produced some really good bands (Dark Tranquility being my favorite). They also directly influenced the melodic death/thrash/hardcore of Massachusetts, flagshipped by my beloved Shadows Fall, with Beyond The Embrace and Killswitch Engage bringing up the rear. Heh...up the rear...you just KNOW Agent will make a bad joke about it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted August 9, 2003 No I won't. Although I think I'll pick a fight.. Swamp Metal owns Masshole Metal.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 I prefer Masshole to Swamp. In my world Sweden>Masshole>Swamp>Power
