S.W.A.T.

Recommended Posts

I saw an advance screening of S.W.A.T. last night, and I strongly encourage any action fan to see this movie when they get a chance. I don't want to include any spoilers right here, but I will say that Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell did an excellent job as the main leads, with Michelle Rodriguez and LL Cool J doing solid with their roles as well. I don't know what anyone else thought, but I found the movie pretty damn exciting. In fact, I would vote SWAT as the best Action Movie of 2003, or at least the Best Action Movie of the Summer (Better than Bad Boys II, Terminator 3, or The Hulk)

I would give this movie a very solid 8.5 out of 10 and strongly encourage other people to see it. A great way to spend 2 hours.

Good to know... I've been looking forward to it for almost a month. The plot looks really interesting and exciting. I'll probably see it within next week.

Loved the first half of the movie. Second half turned into your tired and cliched action movie and was also very predictable.

Similar to The Recruit in that vain.

On a side note, I saw the preview for the Rock's movie with Stifler and Christopher Walken. Rundown or some generic name like that. However, the movie looked good in a campy kind of way. I think the Rock and Stifler will probably play well off of each other. Oh yeah, and Rosario Dawson is in it, so that alone is reason enough to see it.

And on an even better side note...

I saw the preview for Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Needless to say, I will be there the opening day. So, if OUATIM kicks all kinds of ass (like I assume it will), where will the El Mariachi trilogy rank in regards to all time greatest trilogies?

The movie was quite excellent, though it had it's weak points...for example, the way that they magically changed guns during shootouts or the way that Colin Farrel stuck to his sidearm for the majority of the movie, despite being an expert marksman and whatnot...

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

And why did they go into the bank in the beginning armed with M4s? Sure, the carbine does a lot of damage and everything, but isn't standard SWAT automatic weapon the MP5? Higher rate of fire, more mobile...ah...just critiquing.

And am I the only one who thought that the good guy-turned-bad guy was Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age?
