Well, I don't Really don't think we should have Jimmy, er, Howard Dean running for president anyway.

and I don't think you can detect scarcasm...

Just so you know...Dean is my default "Eh, I'll take him" democrat for the moment...but look around that doesn't say much considering those around him...

If you have affection for your "home" country --- America will never be the #1 concern.

-=Mike

Why did you put "home" in parentheses? Anyway, I strongly disagree with you. Just because someone has affection for their country doesn't mean America won't be their number one concern.

Why did I put "home" in quotes? Because if you are running for Pres, home better be HERE and since this is about foreign-born candidates, we are referring to their birth countries.

Somebody who still loves their other country can never give themselves fully to America. America must be the ONLY concern.

Please don't take offence to this Mike, but that sounds a little too isolationist to me. America should be a President's number one concern. I agree fully with that. I do not, however, believe it should be their only concern.

The President is the commander-in-chief of the U.S.A, not any other country.

Their ONLY priority should be our interests. If there are other interests in competition, they should not be running for the office.

Divided concerns can equal divided loyalties. That's the last thing we need in the White House. The President must focus on America and its agenda, to the exclusion of other countries. He is charged with preserving, protecting, and defending the Constitution of the United States, not the government of any other country.

If someone can do a good, impartial job, then it doesn't matter whether he is biased towards a country or not.

How on earth would you expect someone to be IMPARTIAL when they're BIASED? Isn't that kinda oxymoronic?

I think they may as well keep it as is - Besides, an American president from, let's say, Brazil, might be a little too keen on trying to help Brazil fix whatever problems it may have, while ignoring the much greater problems of other nations that need help.

Not that I think the US should/has to help other nations - that's merely an example.
