Racism and the double standard

Recommended Posts

Hey, I HAVE MINORITY FRIENDS!!! Even tho he's mexican I associate with him!!! You don't know me!

I think this comes from insecurity that people may think your an "only-whites-allowed" racist. The thing that always bothers me is that people--like my mexican best friend who's president of 2 school org's, an ra, and has a 3.9; or my black friend, who's a top-40 collegiate RB interested in academics, with 2 parents--these guys are looked at as a minority within their race... when in fact there are tons of these kinds of people, just as there are tons of white idiots wasting their opportunities.

Our goal should be a day when I can simply say Matt Milton without having to say his "color"... this is something I try to do all the time.

You know whats funny? That most of the white people in this thread looked straight up racist. People need to chill out with all the racist bullshit threads. As a black person myself, I found it quite hilarious that people are still complaining about the same tired ass shit. Face it, in this country blacks and whites will never truly see eye to eye. Why? Because the same ignorance is passed down from generation from generation. If our generation can break away from the teachings of our parents and grandparents, there wouldnt be the same sterotypes that we are spewing out today in the 21st century. Its okay if you dont like somebody but keep it to yourself.

Half the problems that exist in society today are because people don't WANT to find solutions to problems. It's much too easy to waste time, money, and energy on finding someone to blame for your problems. Or problems which may or may not have happened to you, or ones that happened fifty or a hundred years ago. For any group out there who thinks you were unfairly treated at some point in history, go ahead and hug the person next to you. It's likely that they were too.

I don't like using the words "white", "black", "hispanic", or whatever. I don't like placing labels on people, but instead make it a point to judge them individually. Stereotypes are a bad thing, considering the people who actually fit a stereotype completely are few. If someone's using their race as an excuse for their behavior, or to justify something they've done..then I pity them. I'm sure it bothers people of their -own- race to be associated with something like that.

It dosen't really matter if someone's black, white, or green. The type of person someone is in no way depends on the color of their skin. For example: Think about the people you associate with on this board. Does it really matter what they are? No, it dosen't..because you get to know them first, and form a judgement on that. Use that part of your brain more often, and you'll do just fine.

My two cents.

Look I am not a racist, the BIGGEST point I was trying to make is that if we ever hope to get over racism in this country we have to stop seeing things in black and white. Having a channel like "black entertainment channel" IS NOT RIGHT, call it Urban Entertainment Channel, show the same stuff, just different name. Its also not right for anyone, no matter what race to get a job because of their skin color, they shouldn't get to go to school because the color of their skin.

There is NO denying that it happens to "blacks" more often than whites.

NOW on the other hand "blacks" have to go through more racial profiling, its very hard for me to understand what its like being pulled over in my car because of the color of my skin, or being asked to leave because I'm being too loud, when someone from the other skin color is being just as loud. Or having someone lock their door because they see me walking past. These are not things I'm used to that the "black community" is used to. These are problems they deal with on a daily basis that I will most likely NEVER be able to understand "black pain".

With that being said I'm just asking for some people to see it the other way and realize that sometimes "whites" are descriminated against by other "whites" because of their skin color, weird huh?

So lets stop with the "black entertainment" "black Starz channel", if you want to give them their own genre can't we call it Urban?

Now I know what you are going to say, that my posts are racist, and by bringing this subject up I am being racist, we'll never be able to get over black and white as long as white power fuckheads like me are around we'll never get over. The problem is I'm NOT "white power" I truly enjoy the "urban" culture, I'm a huge fan of rap, and "urban" movies. I enjoy the culture, at times I consider myself part of it. Lets just look around for a minute and see that even though it may sound racist, I'm saying the same thing a lot of people want to say about BLACKS and WHITES!

Now, just to be sure,

You aren't trying to say that more blacks get jobs because of their skin color than whites are you? I'm a little confused by the way you phrased it.

And once again, I think you should go back and read my post about WHY there is a BET. That channel is older than you. It has history. Its creation WAS relevant at the time, and it is now a fixture in its name due to its decades of existance. You say that their would be a uprising if a channel was called WET...maybe because 90% of televison is all white. Television producers are out for ratings. The biggest market in america is white america and they would be foolish not to cater to their entertainment needs. If a WET was created(and wasn't a porn channel with that name) its programing would look just like every other channel on television. There is just no grounds for arguement on this subject honestly, but it constantly gets brought up on this board as the proof positive that whites in this country are getting the shaft because there is no WET.
