JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 OK, maybe that was an overstatement, but Pitfall was pivotal in the adventure genre. And plus, it took the Atari system several steps ahead of what it was. Pitfall Harry had arms and legs, as opposed to being a square, and he wasn't just one solid color like in Berzerk. It was leaps and bounds ahead of anything else Atari had to offer at that point.
WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 Mr. Deacon, that's COMBAT you are talking about. That was the game that came with the system. Yeah, that's a possibility, but I dunno about First Ballot entry. No, this is a different game. This isn't two player and you can't see the tank you are in. The view is like you're looking out of the turret. You can rotate in a circle to shoot other tanks and every now and again a biplane will fly at you. I believe the story of the game is that it's alien invaders using earth based weaponry. The game I am thinking of is NOT Combat.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 Pitfall was a good game, but not a 1st ballot HOF'er. Oh, you best believe it is. It was the first two-way side scrolling game, its graphics were light years ahead of anything else Atari offered at the time, and it singlehandedly put Activision (a company that's still around to this day) on the map. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 I'm looking some stuff up and the game I'm thinking of might have been Tank Attack or Tank Command, not sure.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 sounds like Battlezone to me, though there are no biplanes.
WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2003 You know, Battlezone sounds right. I could have been wrong on the biplanes. But I could have sworn that once you worked up so far there were planes to shoot at.
