SWF Rumors, News and Notes: Grand Slam rumors, the Kliq, Suicide King

by Christopher Hicks for SmartMarks.com

- According to inside sorces, the "unscripted" exchange on Ground Zero between Suicide King and "Grand Slam" Mark Stevens was planned, but King changed it after the show was on the air. Production was ready for it, but no one relayed the info to Stevens during the show. My guess is that there was an argument planned between the two to further the rumored angle that would see Grand Slam return to an active wrestling role. But the Suicide King, who, incidentally, actually does own 25% of the Smarks Wrestling Federation organization, decided to fire Stevens during the show. No one is saying why, although as previous reports have said, this has contributed to a "dark and dismal" locker room.

- This would all be contrary to rumors that Stevens and King remained close friends even after King's scripted heel turn and ascension to Commissioner. This would also seem to shoot down the popular smark theory of an "SWF Kliq" consisting of Stevens, King, Edwin MacPhisto, H-Ville Thugg and Xstacy. This reporter never believed it anyways.

- A source in Lincoln has confirmed that the Stevens family have moved back into their house just outside town. They arrived on the Saturday before Genesis with Mark Stevens helping them unload the trucks.

- The Bases Loaded Training Center in Aurora, Illinois has indeed shut its doors and all students received a letter of recommendation to the training school of their choice, and a full refund. In addition, the Training Center's section of the SWF Website has been closed.

- Reports say that "Grand Slam" Mark Stevens is advertised as appearing on a local indy show in Omaha, Nebraska on September 7. It is not known if it is a personal appearance or if he will be involved in the show in either a wrestling or non-wrestling capacity.

- The WWE has denied any interest in hiring "Grand Slam" Mark Stevens as either a wrestler or on-air personality. A statement released by the company states that Grand Slam "does not fit in with the current product" and has "injury issues concerning his knee".

- Finally, NWA-TNA has admitted in their weekly report that although they are interested in hiring Stevens, their upcoming hiatus coupled with his 30-day "no-compete" clause will keep him out of that promotion until late September / early October at the earliest.

What, no info about Strangler's upcoming Playgirl spread? You cheat us all, Mark.

Otherwise: very nice. More of the fun "inside the business" type stuff that also adds a little more depth to the King/Mark scenario.
