Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Anyone remember some of FOXs' shows from their first couple of seasons as a major network? Beans Baxter was one, it was about a high school kid who was a secret agent on the side..another one I vaguely remember was with a very young Matthew Perry who has a gaurdian angel who was actually him in his 40s. The premise was that he drowns in the future and returns in to the past to keep the younger version of himself from making the mistakes that eventually lead to his shitty life and early death. Can't remember the name to save my life. The show eventually morphed into "Boys Will Be Boys", dropping the gaurdian angel bit and just being about Matthew Perry and his friends dealing with teenage life... Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted September 1, 2003 is a 7 year show really *that* short lived? Speaking of which... What would you stay is the most obscure long lasting television (Network). WOuld you say COPS? It's been around for 15 years and yet not really a ratings or critical darling... As far as obscure shows that lasted a long time, I'd have to say THE EQUALIZER. How about these shows: 1. A show about virtual reality game developers whose game villains come into the real world. Brent Spiner and Chris Lloyd were baddies on it. 2. MILLENIUM 3. JMFabiano524 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Oh, early Fox shows now! Try Hollywood Dog, whick only had the pilot aired I think in 1990. Basically it was riding the last of the Roger Rabbit wave, having live action and animated characters interacting.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 Greg the Bunny, lasted I think 8 episodes. A decent show but it should have been so much better considering it had comedic gods Eugene Levy, Seth Green and Sarah Silvermen, not to mention foul mouthed puppets. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 Anyone remember some sketch comedy show on Fox where the cast died a horrible death to start every episode (or at least one episode)? I think one of the bits on the show involved Dylan and another male character from 90210 fighting with spikey hair until one got impaled... or something. I only saw a few episodes of this in syndication before the local UPN removed it, but anyone remember What's Happening NOW!? The adventures of Rerun, Dwyane, and Raj as young adults. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 I think it was The Edge...it was really bad, but I was young enough to not know any better and think it was alright.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 That's what I thought it might have been called. I was also young when it aired, and looking at the above skit I described, imagine it was more awful than my young mind thought it was.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 Speaking of that... Did anyone watch the Uptown Comedy Club, it was like an all black SNL (with 2 or 3 exceptions) and it was done on a real small stage with the crowd on every side. It was pretty funny. And Jim Brewer and Tracy Morgan were on it. It was in 91 or 92...didn't last long. the best part was to close the show they'd have people telling "yo momma" jokes back and forth till they told a bad one and got eliminated...granted, this is when that was still a cool thing to do. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 The Edge, ran from 92-93 (guessing late 92 to early 93) I checked jumptheshark to see what people said about it...I watched it often but don't remember all of this Does anyone else remember this show? it was a snl like show on fox featuring jennifer aniston, julie brown, wayne knight among others. this show was hilarious. i'm glad jennifer became famous on friends because i remember telling everyone about this hot chick on a show no one had ever seen. this show, flying blind and the ben stiller show were 3 of the funniest shows ever, and, fox cancelled all 3 before they had a chance. I do remember two sketches on this show in which a gigantic Delta Burke eats the cast of Designing Women and in the second sketch, eats the cast of Beverly Hills 90210. Those were juvenile but the sketch in which Julie Brown demonstrates how to steal a car and says that Tim Allen gave her theft related pointers was funny. Sure Jennifer was HOT, but what I remember most were the animation breaks. They were disgusting and hilarious at the same time!!! This was a show I enjoyed tremendously, though somewhat guiltily as some of the ketches were rather cruel (e.g. Julie Brown as Carny Wilson in the "Lucky Day" video spoof). So much attention has been given to Jennifer Aniston since, and Wayne Knight has had his limelight as "Newman" in Seinfeld. But where is Julie Brown now? She is hilarious and I was sorry to see her show so short-lived. Whoa, I didn't think anyone but my mom and I ever saw this show. We still yell "I KEEL YOU!!" when we're being silly, because there was this spoof of supermodels (one was named "M" cuz she thought Elle MacPherson was "L") and one of them got mad and yelled that. When Friends started, I remember yelling, "Hey! That's the girl from The Edge and Leprechaun!" about Jennifer Aniston. This show was GREAT! The animations were really freaky sometimes, but I loved the parodies and stuff. Somebody mentioned the Ben Stiller Show and this being cancelled too soon, and I TOTALLY agree. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 Count on me to come up with more obscure shows no one remembers. Black's Magic. Hal Linden was a stage magician who had to take care of his elderly father who was a retired cop. Each week one of them would get into some sort of crime and the other had to help them out with their special skills. Linden with his knowledge of illusions and con games, Morgan with his detective skills and connections on the police force. Crazy Like a Fox. Jack Warden was a retired private investigator who still got mixed up in cases and would call on his nebbish son and his family to help him out. ABC mystery movie wheel. In the late eighties, ABC tried to recapture the ratings success of NBC's mystery movie wheel in the seventies. They brought back Columbo, but also had Burt Reynolds as B.L. Stryker, Louis Gossett, Jr. as Gideon Oliver and some chick, I forget her show. Starman. Based on the movie starring Jeff Bridges. The alien he played returned to earth many years later to find the woman he had fell in love with was missing and he had a teenage son. He and his son set off across America to find her. I can't remember the name of this show and I think I only saw it once, would have been like the late eighties. It was about this astronaut who was outside his shuttle during a solar flare or something like that and gained super powers when he would stare into the sun. If he took a glance, his vision would turn blue and he was super smart. If he looked longer, his vision would turn orange and he would be super fast and strong. If he looked longer his vision would turn red and he would be in danger of blowing up his brain. Anyone remember this one?
