Yeesh. Of all people from XPW they could have had tryout, they had POGO? Oy vey, this doesn't bode well for workrate.

Pogo's a decent worker. He's really stiff, but guys that have worked with him (American Wild Child and Sandman among them) have said he's a pretty good worker.

You know, I have an Observer somewhere where Meltzer discussed going to an APW show in Cali. and watching Joe Applebaumer win a battle royal, and saying he was impressed with him for a big man. As someone who watches XPW, I never saw it.

I may be, but at least I didn't just curse someone out for no reason.

Pogo - although he's about the same size - is definitely no Vic Grimes, but he's somewhat decent. I like him more for the gimmick he has than his talent.

Zach, was the APW show recently or back in like '98 or before then? He may've been less heavy back then, I don't know, but that may've been why b/c like you say he's not too solid in the ring right now.

'97-'98 would be correct, as I used to get my Observers from one of my teachers in high school, who was a huge smark. He'd copy me the Observer every week from my softmore to my senior year.

And Vic is not that great. Crash Holly even says on his shoot that Vic only looks good when he's got someone smaller to toss and around so that guy can bump like a pinball for him. Otherwise Vic's just a guy who can fall off high places and not get hurt.

Considering that you can't even type a simple sentence YOU'RE one to talk.

Why don't you list why you think Pogo is not a decent worker instead of making one blanket statement.

And until you can write a simple sentence- I would stop with the name calling

Yeah, I gotta side with him on that one.

Damn...that's a mad cool teacher. Too bad the only teachers I had were uber-marks.

This one's flaw was that he was a big Jarrett fan, from the Memphis era all the way up to WCW. I still see my old teacher from time to time around town, and only now is he growing tired of him due to his "Godliness" in TNA.

But yeah, reading Observers in algebra (and every other class) rocked.

Yeah, because God knows the fact that the government is going against every aspect of free speech by perpetrating this bullshit is not a good enough reason to support a scapegoat.

Eh, if there's gotta be a scapegoat, ol' Robbie's the perfect one. If it was just the "freedom of speech" thing I'd agree- but the guy is a legit danger. Ask Luke Ford.

I hope he gets the Jeffery Dahmer treatment in prison.

What exactly are you talking about? He makes films about rape, degrading women, etc. all of which should be protected as free speech by the government. The thing is, there should be no scapegoat in this situation. Because if Bush gets reelected, and a Republican follows him, how long until more and more speech is censored?

The Zane family (which Black is a member of) has long been rumored to have Mafia connections.

Luke Ford, an adult film journalist (I guess that's what you call him) has received death threats from EA.

Jay Bower (EI Cubano on the board) has all of that information somewhere from an old column of his.

I agree it's a 1st Amendment violation, but if they can nail the guy on a bullshit charge, that's fine with me.

Pogo wasn't that bad back in APW, but he's gotten a lot worse over the years.

I'm sorry, but I'm really going to have to disagree w/ the Grimes comments. The guy can work VERY well, and not only against small guys. His matches with Supreme were very fun. He recently had a great match with Adam Pierce. His stuff with J.R. Benson, who's pretty big, provided one of the most famous feuds in So-Cal history. Robert Thompson is pretty big and he's a great rival of Grimes.

His match w/ Malice from XPW TV was very good. I was really surprised at some of the moves they pulled off, considering the size of each. Plus, it's not just his defensive stuff that's cool (i.e. how he can manhandle a small guy with offensive moves). He does high spots that nobody his size can do. Nobody his size uses a corkscrew somersault senton, an apron-dive senton, a flying leg drop, and my favorite move in his repertoire, a ropewalk leg breaker leg drop (only guy I've ever seen perform that move, big or small). He's a great high flyer for his size and can bump like mad. That's something very few can do (Bigelow, Vader, etc.). You don't see Mark Henry, Big Show, etc. doing moves like he does. I would agree that he works much better with smaller guys, but he can work pretty well with big dudes, too.

"Let's not forget his insanely offensive gimmick"

No more offensive than the Undertaker's old gimmick, necrophilia, Mark Henry's old angles, etc.

You guys do know that the movies he makes are illegal in some parts of the country right? Also from what I know most of this is about Rob having underage performers in some of his movies.

So why should anyone help a guy who let underaged performers into his movies?

Undertaker's Old Gimmick - What, he's dead? Didn't find that offensive

Necrophilia? Never actually saw the segment.

Mark Henry's stuff? Funny, more than anything else.

No thanks, I'll stick with Pogo as an insanely offensive gimmick,

It’s a completely different level of offensiveness then any of those things you listed. Those were dumb wwf/wwe gimmicks that where based in the realm of fantasy. The only thing those gimmicks are guilty of is being an insult to the viewers intelligence.

While pogo's gimmick is a complete insult to the real life victims of John Wayne Gacy.

John Wayne Gacy tortured, raped and murdered over 30 REAL people, how could that possibly be seen on the same level as the fake goofiness of the WWE.

Ummm...I don't think he's had underage girls in his movies. If he has, I agree with you, but I think you're making a judgment w/ out all the info gathered.

Undertaker sacraficed Steve Austin with a steel cross. He tried to embalm Austin.

Mark Henry was having sex with a tranvestite, according to the storyline. That's offensive.

It doesn't matter if u haven't seen the necrophilia segment. it was very, very offensive to many.

Is Undertaker sacraficing Austin not an insult to extremist Christians who are offended by them mocking Jesus' crucifixion?

Is the Mark Henry thing not an insult to real tranvestites, who aren't promiscuous like they protrayed one on TV?

What about the victims of sodemy and other crimes like that? The necrophilia angle was offensive to them, I'd guess.

And if you want to talk about offensive, wrestling in general is offensive to many women because it portrays them as nothing more than trash and eye candy.

After you watched all of part of one TV episode, and made a snap judgment in a futile effort to justify a previous bias, which was also a flamebaiting snap judgment.

But that's another story for another day.

The Gacy/Pogo thing is offensive because SPECIFIC, REAL PEOPLE DIED.

There's a big difference between "groups being offended" and PEOPLE DYING.

I will agree though, that the necrophilia angle comes close, because rape is over the line, and neither is making fun of fatal car accidents. That's the one time WWE transcended "fake goofiness" and did horrific shit.

Let's just agree to disagree. I find Pogo entertaining and yes, while he's based on somebody legitimately bad, I'm sure if we all tried we could think of angles in wrestling that were as equally offensive. Plus, Pogo hasn't done any of those "burying kids" vignettes since his XPW debut in like early 2000, when some promos were shown on TV. He's now just an evil clown. He hasn't cut any sort of promo that would associate himself with Gacy since 2000. The feminine bashing in wrestling has been around and is still around.

Whatever u say...

I don't say this much because I feel it's immature- well, actually I've never said this:

But dude, I so 0wned you last time this was brought up, so I hope you don't bring your Jayson Blair-esque "journalism" for another Wildside argument. Because you'd just make an idiot out of yourself. Again.

So please don't do it. And if you insist on continuing that bit of idiocy, take it to NHB. I'd prefer this place stay free of flame arguments.
