Guest Coffey Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 But the thing is ECW paid for the rights to include their theme music in home videos. Then why are the songs not on the ECW DVD's?
NoCalMike Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 this sounds too good to be true. I have a hunch that they are gonna cut & paste footage possibly to only show footage of wcw/ecw that features current wwe stars. I mean seriously, Vince isn't dumb, he knows people are interested in the ecw library, however he figures that the money generated by showing it, is less appealing that trying to just cover up the fact that there ever was another wrestling promotion and/or featuring wrestlers that are superior to his own product. I don't want to sound synical, but I don't think this will work out the way we all want it too. Barreca: So umm Vince, you have all this footage on yer hands that you could be marketing and making money off of. Vince: Well that is not the point. WWE should be known as the only wrestling company in the world. I don't want people exploring other options which is what these tapes might lead too... Barreca:But, umm Vince, goldmine..helloooo? Vince & Gerwitz(staring at each other shrugging shoulders) Vince: Barreca, YOOOOU'RE FIIIIIIIIIIRED~!
Guest Ecto Cooler Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 But the thing is ECW paid for the rights to include their theme music in home videos. Then why are the songs not on the ECW DVD's? Pioneer bought the rights to release the *WRESTLING* footage. They didn't possess the same rights that ECW had as a company to use the liscensed music in home video releases. I already explained that.
Guest Ecto Cooler Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Who owns the rights to Savage and Flair's themes? Isn't that 100 year old music (literally)? Flair's current (the one he also used in WCW from 1993-2001) is a production version of "Also Sprach Zarathustra". Savage's version of "Pomp And Circumstance" was produced in-house by Jim Johnston.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 But....does nayone give a fuck about the AWA? *raises hand* *also raising hands*
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 There is a lot of AWA stuff I would like to see including: WrestleRock 86' Curt Hennig vs. Nick Bockwinkle matches Anything from 1980-1985. AWA was a great promotion in the early 80's. But once Vince took Hogan, Ventura, Patera, Mean Gene, and Heenan it started to go down hill.
Crimson Platypus Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 What I would do if I were in Barreca's shoes: Put together "Vince" videos. Highlighting Vince's boys, McMahon matches, everything that I thought that Vince would want to see. Market the hell out of all those videos, t-shirts, PPVs, etc. In addition, use the old footage to put together other, less marketed videos that are for sale on shopzone. That way the people that are interested would be able to find the stuff they want.
Guest MikeSC Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 (The future...JJF is watching TV on his Digital Cable system) JJF:Hmmm...what's on the tele'? (Switches to 24/7 Wrestling Channel) JJF:Best of ECW...? I'm game! (JJF watches 30 minutes of quality wrestling from the greatest promotion ever, ECW.....he chants E-C-DUB the entire marathon.) JJF:Awesome! But I wish there could've been more. And why did they cut out parts of the matches? Oh well....What's on next? (JJF continues to watch the 24/7 wrestling channel, and sees what's on next.) JJF:Best of Hogan...great! From 1993 only?!!!!! 12 straight hours?!!!!!! Oh my fucking goodness! Change the channel! Please! I can't bear to watch this! Oh wait....I have the remote. (JJF changes it to Playboy Channel and whacks off for 12 hours) Umm, pardon me? ECW --- greatest promotion ever? That was a joke, right? -=Mike
nl5xsk1 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 But....does nayone give a fuck about the AWA? *raises hand* *also raising hands* Joins the crowd with their hands held high ... Other than what's already been mentioned: Road Warriors vs. Freebirds in massive brawls Bruiser Brody in all sorts of bloodbaths Stan Hansen throwing stiff as hell clotheslines Vader back when he was only as "Baby Bull" Leon White The huge event in Chicago at Comiskey Park (with Warriors-Birds, Hansen-Martel, Flair, Kerry Von Erich, Hall and Hennig, etc. etc. etc) I'll be the first to admit that McMahon most likely wouldn't want to focus on any of the above, but he IS a businessman. If he has the chance to generate revenue from the past to make up for lost earnings in the present, it can potentially come to fruition.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 heres the question if they do develop the 24/7 wrestling channel with WWF WCW AWA ECW etc on it.... will they go chronological or will they go random?
KTID Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Umm, pardon me? ECW --- greatest promotion ever? That was a joke, right? -=Mike No, i don't think he was joking. And I think you'll find that I, and literally thousands more, would agree with him. Just because some of you are complete WWE marks, and have never seen anything outside of WWE doesn't mean there isn't a whole world of other (better) promotions.

I doubt you'd call it the best but it has its moments of quality within the sea of Bloody garbage wrestling
Guest Choken One Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 heres the question if they do develop the 24/7 wrestling channel with WWF WCW AWA ECW etc on it.... will they go chronological or will they go random? I'd imagine it's hard to do that but if they could get a Unbiased Honest "Behind the Music" type show where they talk about the history...It would incredible. But I'd Imagine if it's In Demand...It'll be like Like On Demand HBO where you choose the show or "event". I'm banking they will seperate into 3 sections WWE WCW AWA and offer about 20 matches a day....and change it randomly...
Use Your Illusion Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 (JJF watches 30 minutes of quality wrestling from the greatest promotion ever, ECW.....he chants E-C-DUB the entire marathon.) HA. Oh, you were being serious? How sad. UYI
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 imagine the specials on specific wrestlers Steve Austin... Follow his career from USWA to WCW to ECW and WWF! from 6 am to 12 am
Guest Choken One Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 The problem with this is... You make more money off DVD's but with a All Day In Demand Channel you can DIRECTLY connect to your core market... Which means DVD's will have to be ultra special... They can't air the really *Rare* matches on the Indemand such as Marty/Shawn from Raw 1993... People here will pay 24 bucks for a quality dvd footage of that match
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 do they still own coliseum home video material since they scrapped it?
Guest Choken One Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Yeah they own it...It's all in the vault baby!
