I don't know, Hulk Hogan didn't do too bad... But not through kayfabing. Of all the wrestlers of the late 80's, Hogan was one of the more realistic characters, and the same with his glory-run in the NWO. It wasn't until his charachter became less believable (and therefore required more kayfabing) in more recent times that he became less over with the fans and less of a draw.
