MGS: The Twin Snakes

Recommended Posts

Why make generalizations like that? How do you know why people like the story?

I'm playing Twin Snakes now...

Because I know of plenty of people who are dolts and believe everything magazines tell them.

The best thing from MGS2, however was.

*points to bandanna*

Don't worry kid. Unlimited ammo.

I liked cloaking more, personally. Muhahha! I AM the Predator!!

Personally, I liked the ability to fuck around with the guards.

First, I'd sneak up behind the guard and hold him up. Then, I'd shoot his transmitter, so that he can't call for backup. Next, I'd take his dog tag. After that, I'd shoot the guard's arm. Then, I'd shoot one of his legs, just to be a dick. After that, I'd put my gun away and laugh as the guard used his good arm to try to call for help. After realizing that the transmitter didn't work, the guar would start to limp away. At that point, I'd put a bullet through the poor guy's head.

Nah, just Snake delivering a line about how his bandana gives him unlimited ammo...

Now there is breaking down the 4th wall.

Yeah, I remember that line well. However, your lack of quotation marks made me think you meant the item itself.

I rolled my eyes and groaned, but liked that because it was one of the few moments where the game didn't take itself so damn seriously.

You mean you didn't know that the Sons Of Liberty teamed up with the Illuminati.... That part of the story could not be serious.

It was all a dream is the same sort of thing.

I just beat Twin Snakes. Some thoughts....

It's more of a port than a remake. The gameplay is like exactly the same. You can hang from railing and all that, but that stuff almost never come into play. 90% of it plays just like the original. The only thing really new is first person shooting, which is nice.

The new voice acting is good, but I prefer the originals. I don't understand why they rerecorded it.

The action scenes are straight out of the Matrix and are incredible. Like the coolest action cut scenes in any game. It's kind of weird though because the actual in game stuff doesn't really match it, you can't go into bullet time or do all the insane dodges while playing. They're really cool, but don't feel right..they don't fit in at times.

After beating it I'm not really all that hyped about it. It felt just like regular MGS. The new cutscenes where a nice novelty, but are not enough. The game just isn't that exciting. As a remake it fails to be interesting and I don't see the point of it as a port. I don't know, MGS is like in my top 5 favorite games of all time, but this just isn't a big deal to me.

First off, it's just a new version of MGS1. It has nothing to do with MGS2.

I don't know if it's worth buying it or not. I don't regret it, but then again I really love MGS. If a new take on the cutscenes and better graphics sound interesting to you then check it out. But I wouldn't recomend it to anyone expecting a full on remake.

It's weird, I'd give the game like a 9 and put it over as one of my favorites....but at the same time I'm kind of disappointed or not impressed by it.

I thought that was what it was planned to be from the beginning. I thought that was the whole freakin' reason it was called Twin Snakes (yeah, I know about Solidus, but since they didn't expand the game any in regards to that aspect, no reason for the rename). Not that I would want to play MGS2, but since the GC is the only one without a version of it and it is a hit, I'd think making GC peeps wait so long would warrant it, like the GTA double-pack.

So either no MGS2 at all, or a really late one. That's really dumb, since MGS2 is *not* aging well.

I think people know my mindset well enough to know the answer to that...

Perhaps the reason why they haven't released it yet is do to the fact that, knowing what a huge bomb MGS2 was, they are taking their time and actually reworking the entire game to make it actually be a good game...

"A huge bomb"? By what standards? MGS2 was a huge hit in stores, Konami made money by the barrelful with that game.

About MGS3, though, I am kinda worried about what I've heard. Taking place back in the 60's, in the jungle, no radar, having to waste time with "realism" like eating, all that sounds suspect to begin with. But the fact that the lead protagonist is apparently Big Boss, now that is a BAD idea. The #1 complaint about MGS2 was that they replaced Snake as the hero with someone less cool. Raiden was bad enough; how are gamers going to react when they have to play as Big Boss, the single worst villain in the entire series?

No. It was never annouced to have anything to do with MGS2. It was always a remake of MGS1. I dont know where you got this from.

It also seemed a critical hit as well, except for those who hated Raiden and whacky gamers like me who like to have more gaming in our games and found the story, characters, plot, writing, etc to totally munch.

MGS2 is one of those games like FF VIII or MKDA that sold millions and got good scores with all the press yet it seems like everyone on the net hates it.

I've only recently begun to play MGS2.

JESUS GOD, I want to *play* the game, not fucking watch it. Damned cutscenes.

I can't imagine I'd be interested in a MGS port either. I played through that game twice and got exceptionally bored. I dunno, since the basic idea of it is spying around and discovering all this stuff, it just makes it tedious when you already know the stuff, and sit there trying to scroll through the godforsaken chat things as fast as humanly possible.

I was quite elated when I learned you could skip them entirely in MGS2.

I just picked up a used GameCube along with this game. I haven't bothered to watch the cut scenes or the Codec scenes, but I'll assume that nothing has changed. I'm still trying to get used to the controls, but the gameplay seems fine. My only real gripe is that the game seems a lot easier with the addition of the M9.

FFVIII got quite a bit of bashing in game magazines, actually.

I can't bash DA because I never played it.

Who bashed FF VIII? Gamefan is the only one I can think of. PSM, EGM, Gamepro, Next Gen, all loved it.
