Guest Corino 1000 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Also, has anyone here seen any Chikara shows? What did you think of them? I haven't seen any Chickara Pro shows but I've seen some of there workers. It was Hallowicked, The Wildcards, Kid Aquaras, Jigsaw, and Mike Quackenbush. Well whatever its on the IWA- MS show Put up or Shut, the show itself is ok. Well the Chickara Pro people wrestle a basic lucha style but I really like what I have seen. I recommend you check out some of Quackenbushes stuff.
JoeDirt Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 No one has posted in this thread for a while, so let me say that my recent viewing was ROH's Death Before Dishonor 2 shows. The 7/23 Wisconsin show is pretty good, and the 7/24 Chicago show is FANTASTIC, maybe the best ROH show ever.
Vanhalen Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 Just finished watching CZW's Deathmatch tourney 3, and its worth picking up if you can get a chance, what IWA:Mid South stuff should I be looking out for on the wrestling channel?

Well if you like deathmatches, then obviously King of the Deathmatch 2004. Â Other good shows from this year are One More Time, Stylin' in the Summertime, An IWA Fairytale, and the Revolution Strong Style Tournament.
Guest SoCalTF Posted November 25, 2004 Report Posted November 25, 2004 I recomend PWG's The Reason For The Season DVD. Fantastic wrestling top to bottom on the show. Great 8 Man opener, sprinkle in two solid matches with a few smaller name guys, a new fued begining between two former tag partners, a heated fued between two mortal enemys ending inside a steel cage, and 3 MOTYCs with the top talent in the indy scene today that make this show one of, if not, THE BEST indy show of 2004. Â Also, I don't see a lot of hype for this, but IWA-MS One More Time was truely great. Joe/Cide, The women's match, Sydal/Aries, Punk/Hero, and Jacobs/Shelley inside a steal cage. Great stuff as always from IWA-MS.

Guest SoCalTF Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 So I went to Pro Wrestling War on Sunday and saw a DVD called "Random SoCal Matches Volume 2". I looked at the back of the cover and saw it had some matches from various SoCal Indies and the Backyard Wrestling 2 Video Game event. So I picked it up and it was awesome. It has something for everyone. For puro fans it has Taji Ishimori of Toryumon sleeping at a random SoCal event, tons of deathmatch stuff for the bloodmarks, a rare match with Spanky vs. Frankie Kazarian from 2002, some hilarious clips of drunks guys rubbing up on some drunk chick at the BYW 2 show, a fan in a Hulk mask going crazy and dancing to heavy metal music, Corporal Robinson beating the shit out of some shitty SoCal worker, and a match with Shocker, Negro Casa, Rey Buccanero, and Ultimo Guerrero for lucha fans. And it also has the return of Nick Mondo as he did a run in during a Vic Grimes/Messiah match. Great DVD for comedy and deathmatch fans. Here's a match listing:  Messiah vs. Vic Grimes in a Hardcore Match R2K and Biggie E. Biggz vs. AWC and Angel in an unreleased Rev Pro show Nate Webb vs. John Zandig in a Hardcore Match Spanky vs. Frankie Kazarian from a 2002 show Scorpio Sky and Quicksilver(dressed as "The Bosh Brothers) vs. Lil' Cholo and Chris Bosh(dressed as Scorpio Sky) Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Buccanero, Acero Dorado vs. Shocker, Necro Casa, and Piloto Suicida Corporal Robinson vs. Some Random SoCal worker in a Weapons Match Supreme vs. Mad Man Pondo in a deathmatch with New Jack doing a run in and doing a dive off a bus  I think you can find the DVD at www.xtreme-video.com since they made the first one.
King Cucaracha Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Is CZW BotB 4 worth getting? I've not seen CZW in quite a while but most guys I've seen in IWA:MS, just wondering if it's worth a look.
LucharesuFan619 Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Ya, it's a really good show. I'd skip BOTB3. BOTB4 is definitely recommended.
LucharesuFan619 Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Gotta recommend JAPW Awesome Sacrifice and When Worlds Collide. 2 great shows.
WrestlingFan4Ever Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 I've been thinking about getting some ROH stuff. Can anyone tell me if Best of CM PUNK volumes 1 and 2 as well as Best of AJ STYLES volumes 1 and 2 are worth getting?
Guest xSarahx Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I've been thinking about getting some ROH stuff. Can anyone tell me if Best of CM PUNK volumes 1 and 2 as well as Best of AJ STYLES volumes 1 and 2 are worth getting? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>  While I haven't seen the Best of AJ Styles, I can recommend the Best of Punk. If you haven't seen Punk in ROH, this is an excellent way to get an introduction. Volume One has Punk's debut, most of his feud with Raven, the infamous "This is Straightedge" WrestleRave '03 promo, and great matches with Joe (8/16/03) and Styles (10/16/03). Volume Two shows the finish of the Raven feud, his confrontations with Ricky Steamboat, and some good matches including Punk vs. Aries (9/11/04) which is a good way to end the DVD. Also, if you are into Punk, you HAVE to see the Joe/Punk trilogy which is the "World Title Classic" 6/12/04, "Joe vs. Punk II" 10/16/04 and "All Star Extravaganza II" 12/4/04. Heck, even if you don't care for Punk these three matches are must-sees. If you're new to ROH, right now would be a good time to try it out because the tapes and DVD's are buy 3 get 1 free. ROH usually has a sale going on, and this one is good to pick up some Best Of's if you're new. Ring of Honor Website  Hope that helps
WrestlingFan4Ever Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 I really appreciate the help xSarahx. I decided to order the two best of Punk DVDs plus the two best of AJ Styles DVDs with the fourth one being free. Eventually I'll try and get the infamous Punk-Joe series but for now I'm going to just check out the Punk DVDs because my exposure to him has been VERY limited as I only saw him wrestle twice at two ROH shows, Weekend of Thunder and Death Before Dishonor.
Guest xSarahx Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 Hey, no problem. Hope you enjoy them, I know I did. ROH shipping is unbelievably fast, I live in Oregon and I get my orders within 3 or 4 days. Â Speaking of ROH, they have some good shoots too if anyone is interested in those. I have Mick Foley, Jushin Liger, Joe/Punk, and Raven/Sandman. I highly recommend the Joe/Punk and Raven/Sandman shoots as I laughed at a lot of the stories they tell. Joe and Punk go through their trilogy and explain what was behind each match and it's really interesting if you've seen the matches. Plus you have to hear the transvestite story and the Del Taco story featuring Rick Noon (aka Ricky Reyes). Hilarious. Raven and Sandman's shoot is just them telling stories about life on the road and in ECW. I think Gabe only gets two questions in on the whole tape. I liked it. Mick's is okay but he doesn't really say anything that makes it a "must see" and it kind of came off as he was just doing it to make a few easy bucks. As for the Liger shoot, it is a little hard to sit through with the translator and the sound isn't that great but if you're into puro and/or Liger, this one was interesting.
King Cucaracha Posted September 6, 2005 Report Posted September 6, 2005 A couple of new reccomendations, methinks. Â CHIKARA Tag World Grand Prix, Nights 1, 2 and 3 It's hard to say which is better. To be honest, they're not mind-blowingly fantastic shows, but it's easily the best introduction to CHIKARA. Night 1 has ROH Dodgeball, Darkness Crabtree, Ebessan, Super Dragon and B-Boy bumping for Mokogen Ken. Oh, and a very good Dragon/B-Boy vs. Ebessan/Billy Ken Kid match. Night 2 has THE BEAR~!, Anthony Franco and Matt Turner getting absolutely destroyed by Necro Butcher and Mad Man Pondo, El Generico, Larry Sweeney. And probably, more good matches than Night 1, including Hero/Quack vs. Eddie Kingston/Mickie Knuckles. And Night 3 tops it off with some pretty good matches, some mad multi-man/animal matches and Claudio/Cannon vs. Hero/Quack with the awesome turn angle at the end. Â CHIKARA Young Lions Cup 3, Night 3 Night 1 isn't too hot and Night 2 is good, but not as good as Night 3. A great atmosphere and a great show to go with it. Aside from the Six Person Tag which is only really worth it for Crossbones kicking Mickie Knuckles square in the face and only a passable Larry Sweeney/Vries Kastelein match (although, you get Sweeney on the mic, which makes up for it), it's all good. The top three matches in particular. The Cheech/Cloudy vs. Franco/Turner Streetfight is fantastic. You get the return of Eddie Kingston to the ring in a typically very good 8 Man Tag. And then Icarus and Shane Storm with probably the hottest crowd in CHIKARA history. Â IWA:MS No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2005 Worth it just for CM Punk vs. Delirious, which is the greatest thing in wrestling history. Wargames is a little disappointing. Abercrombie/Marek/Tyler is fantastic. Sydal/Jacobs is exciting. Kingston/Hero/Tank is surprisingly good. Plus there's some cool footage of Team Fannin in a limo on the way to the show and then there's a cool pre-show beatdown on Brandon Thomaselli when they arrive. Kingston is awesome. The rest of the show is decent enough.
Smartly Pretty Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 NOO! DO NOT ORDER THE BEST OF'S! Â The best of's tapes, are simply tapes to get you interseted in buying more real tapes, without spoiling the best matches. Take a look at Best of CM Punk. Notice NONE of his matches with Samoa Joe are on it. You are much better off buying a real card. Â I recomend starting at one of the first shows of the "RoH chapters" Â Â Chapter 1: "Era Of Honor Begins" to "First Anniversary Show" Chapter 2: "Expect The Unexpected" to "At Our Best" Chapter 3: "Reborn: Stage One" to "Final Battle 2004" Chapter 4: "It All Begins" to "The Future Is Now" Chapter 5: "Death Before Dishonor III" to Chicago Ridge 8/13/04 (show yet to be named)
Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 IWA:MS No Blood, No Guts, No Glory 2005 Kingston/Hero/Tank is surprisingly good. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Surprisingly good? Considering the three guys involved, it was shockingly average.

Damaramu Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 I have the ROH 2/23 I think 02 show and the 3/30 I think 02 show. The main events are like a 3-way with American Dragon, Christopher Daniels, and Lo-Ki and then a tournament involving the 3. Do those shows have names and if I order any of the named shows could I accidentally end up with any of these?
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 The debut ROH show was called The Era Of Honor Begins, and the round robin show was called Round Robin Challenge.

The first one (the one with the triple threat match) is called The Era of Honor Begins, and the second (with the round-robin tounrey) is called The Round Robin Challenge. Â EDIT: Beaten to it.

You should just go to ROHWRESTLING.COM and get the authentic versions of the shows and get a larger scope of top to bottom quality. The early shows were about ONE dream indy match and filler, while the current cards are based on complete quality and good storylines.

I still see the EOHB versions at stores.
Damaramu Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 I dunno. I ordered these two from Jeff Lynch.
Guest Real F'n Show Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 TM's released four ROH DVDs: Era of Honor Begins, Round Robin Challenge, Night of Appreciation, and Road to the Title. I've seen them all at my local Sam Goody recently...
King Cucaracha Posted November 9, 2005 Report Posted November 9, 2005 On the subject of ROH, I want Final Showdown simply for the Joe/Evans/Ebessan/Delirious match. But, out of interest, is the rest of the card worth the price of the DVD?

But, out of interest, is the rest of the card worth the price of the DVD? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Truth be told, no. Gibson-Aries was very good, but their Stalemate match was much better. Danielson vs. Homicide was just above average. Very disappointing end to the feud. Nothing else on the show was really worth talking about.
