Has anyone ever been carried

Recommended Posts

I don't recall this ever happening, but maybe I can be enlightened. I think **** is possible, I'm sure Angles done it and Steamboat says he did, but I'm not sure if ***** is.

I think it can be achieved, but that worker has to work very frickin' hard to get it.

I consider Bret vs. Desiel at SS '95 to be a ***** (ah pretty snowflakes) match, but it's only cos I'm a Bret Hart mark. The match did however have pretty awesome psychology, the first ever table bump on PPV and bret biting. So, though I'm sure almost everyone here won't agree with me this I'm allowed my own opinion so there :P.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that it's a carry job, though Nash did work alot better than he usually does.

And I give it about 20 posts before we get "IT ISN"T ALWAYS A DAMN CARRY!"

Nope....you only made it to 10. B-)

No one has carried a man to a ***** match.

Bret/Bulldog was not *****.

Angle has never carried anyone to a ****+ match.

I'd like to see someone name those **** Angle carry jobs please.

I don't think Angle's come close to a 4* carry job. Most of Angle's great matches were with competent-excellent opponents. I'd say he carried Kane to a *** to ***1/2 match on Smackdown for the US title a few years back, but that's the highest I'd go.

Bret-Bulldog is probably as close as you'll find, as its definately in the 4-5* range, and an admitted carry job by Bret. I don't consider Nash-Michaels ***** OR a carry job as Nash more than held his own in that brawl.

Nash/HBK is not ***** or THAT big of a carry. Nash was decent when he cared back in 96, he giving his all for his best friend AND it's a basic brawl with bumps from HBK.

Bret/Nash is a MUCH better carry job, not 5* though either.

Bret/Bulldog IS the closest you'll find. But I wanna add:

Steamboat carrying Luger at GAB89 to a 4-5* match.

Luger was pretty usesful back then (certainly if you compare him to his 90s work).

Toshiaki Kawada carried Gary Albright to a fucking awesome match. I have only seen it once (a while ago), but it was ****+ as I recall.

How can you argue about what a five star match is or isnt? I mean person A could think Austin/Taker from Backlash '02 was a 5 star encounter, while I call it a DUD. I mean it's all a matter of opinion.

Not this shit again.

TheSmartMarks get out clause for saying something retarded: "It's my opinion. We are all entitled to opinions, so you can't argue it"

Balls. Some opinions are just wrong.

"Opinion" is a valid excuse for matches ranging from **1/2 to ***1/2. A star here or there? Okay, opinion is good. But to have on person say one match is *****, but another person say the same match is **, there's somebody in the wrong.

The Kawawa/Albright match is the best carry-job I've seen. You can see Kawada leave something open for Gary to take, Gary doesn't take it, and in that split-second Kawada does something else. Brilliant work by a guy who "can't work" according to Lance Uber Worker Storm.

But that match is not *****. Very few (and theoretically only one) are.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. You aren't gonna get anywhere arguing this, because the opinons will be different no matter what.

Case in point:

Micheals/Nash to one person being *****

While another has it at *.

Kawada/Albright was close to **** indeed, and that was ALL Kawada. I think that, along with Bret/Bulldog, is one of the best definitions of a great-match carry. I have watched that match with casual fans and they could tell it was "the guy with no teeth" doing all the work. Great stuff from the guy I'm used to praising by now.

There's plenty of matches where there's one guy doing most of the work, but they rarely touch ****, no less *****, so I'll leave it at that.

the CLAIMS themselves don't matter. what matters are the ARGUMENTS: there must be reasons why person X thinks bret/bulldog is 5 stars, what are they? are they better than person Y's reasons for bret/bulldog not being 5 stars? relatively intelligent people argue like this:

"i think it was 5 stars because (insert reasons)."

"no, it wasn't, because (insert attempt to disprove previous reasons, or another set of reasons coming to the opposite conclusion)."

"but (insert more reasons, or replies to previous objections)."

you're suggesting they argue like this:

"i think it was 5 stars."

"why?"

"just because. it's only my opinion."

"oh."

now...i'm not saying people in this thread HAVE been arguing intelligently, but you're saying it's not possible just because "opinions will be different no matter what," and that just isn't true.

This arguement is the most refuted and debated arguements of all the IWC, just right after Montreal and it's the same song and dance each time...

I'd say Bret/Bulldog was definitely a 4*1/2 match that was mostly a Bret carry. This argument is so dependent on what you term a carry, not to mention what you'd define a 5* match to be (incidentally, I HATE the 5* ratings 'system', but like I said that's incidental) that it is potentially never-ending.

Angle regularly carries poor workers to 2*-3* matches, but has trouble going above that even with good to great talent. But that's what makes him a good champ, he very rarely has a shit match.

DISCLAIMER: all my opinion, OK? (as this seems to be a bit of a minefield ^_^)

Legend has it that Ric Flair wrestled a broomstick once at the Omni in

Atlanta and it was *****.

would anyone consider Flair vs. Windham in that one hour classic from a world taping back in the late 80's a carry? I know Windham was a decent worker, but I can't recall him having any other CLASSIC five star matches like he had with Flair
