the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 (The Eagles O dies if McNabb isn't on and if Philly struggles out of the gate, the crowd will totally turn on them) Well, it'd be nice if they actually let McNabb play like he has before instead of nothing but this "5 yard dump pass" shit like they did against Tampa Bay this week... I was pissed at Reid Monday night, but after a week of watching replays and listening to analysts on local shows it looked more McNabb's fault than Reid's game plan. The receivers were going deep, but McNabb wasn't looking at them for more than a split second before dumping it off. He still doesn't trust his receivers to make a play if they aren't wide open. Reid needs to open up the playbook to let McNabb move around outside of the pocket more, but in regards to going downfield it isn't going to happen. Unless Donovan learns that a QB should read deep then short, as opposed to looking short first, he isn't going to make the downfield pass.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 I really think the Pats should set up their running game like the Jets and Raiders do: give Faulk the ball for the majority of the time and bring in Smith on goal line and short yardage situations, where straight-up-the-gut power running works the best. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2003 It depends. I think Smith is done. I truly do. He was stopped on the goalline at the end of the game by the backups last week...and they didn't get in from the 2 on three other chances earlier. It's Faulks time to take the ball and go, I think. It looks like this week revolves around just a handful of games -- the ones at KC, NY Jets and St. Louis. Most of these matchups will be over with after the 1 p.m. games. The problem for me this week is that I know there will be some upsets, but I have no clue as to where they will occur... Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 15, 2003 ooooohhhhhh, smell that bonus. With the assured Giants victory tonight, that puts me at only TWO misses this week, both of which were safe bets. The Pats suck in Philly, and the other was the defending champs, ah well.
