Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 Bale is going to be good as Bruce/Bats. In my opinion I think Sean Connery would make an awesome Ras! I can actually hear him call Batman detective.

He is the epitome of refined.

He is the epitome of refined. No thatw as a character he played in the 60's. Since then he's been anything but refined. He's taken roles in MOLLY MCGUIRES, A BRIDGE TOO FAR, THE UNTOUCHABLES, and so on. Plus there are two other things hampering him: 1. His accent is all wrong for Ra's. 2. He's never been bankable as a villain. He's always been a hero. Like Eastwood, I can't even imagine him as a heel and I don't think he wants to take chances at this stage of his career. Plus, I can't imagine him doing Al Ghul's dialouge. I mean it's not even close.
BlackFlagg Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I'm not majorly familiar with Ras Al Ghul , anyone have any recommendation for some things to read with him?
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 I'm not majorly familiar with Ras Al Ghul , anyone have any recommendation for some things to read with him? Yes: BATMAN: DEATH AND THE MAIDENS (That's a 9 part series that's on issue 2 now) BATMAN: SON OF THE DEMON BATMAN: TALES OF THE DEMON

So the accent could work.

Scotland is part of Britian. The last time I checked.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 It is, I assumed that you would know what I meant Johnson.
KingPK Posted September 12, 2003 Report Posted September 12, 2003 No....Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, which is made up of England, Scotland and Ireland, all separate countries. On the subject, I have only seen a few Batman movies, and they all blew IMO. With a new Crusader and a new director, this one will probably not. Insightful, eh? EDIT: Huh, guess I was wrong about the UK part. I always thought each island was it's own country.
Guest MideonMark Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 I don't remember ever seeing this Ras guy in the cartoon, but based on the picture and peoples descriptions of the character, Ben Kingsley would actually be a pretty good choice. Also, Patrick Stewart wouldn't be a bad choice and neither would Ian McKellan(who is great in his roles as villains-Richard III and Iago come to mind), although their connections with X-Men might prevent a role in Batman. Christian Bale is an awesome pick to play Batman.
Guest SP-1 Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Stewart couldn't go dark enough for Ra's, in my opinion. Connery wouldn't quite fit, either. While there has to be an aged sophistication to the role, Ra's is also pretty agile and strong. We need someone that can move when it comes to taking Bats on (it would RULE if they have a sword fight at some point a la HUSH). I'm hard pressed to think of someone truly suitable to play Ra's.
Ravenbomb Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 I'm tellin' ya, Rickman would be great.
Guest SP-1 Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Rickman might work. Get his hair right and slap a graying gotee on him. Yeah . . . that might work.
DangerousDamon Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Rickman might work. Get his hair right and slap a graying gotee on him. Yeah . . . that might work. Yea Alan Rickman is the only actor i can imagine playing Ras... His mannerisms and his voice remind me of Ras when i think of him.
Ravenbomb Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 it was his voice that made me think of him. I can picture him calling Batman 'Detective' moreso than anybody else except David Warner.
Guest SP-1 Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 DUDE! David Warner, Alan Rickman . . . or CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER. General Chang in ST6 is a Ra's-like character.
Ravenbomb Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 I REALLY couldn't see Plummer as Al Ghul. With Warner, the physical stuff could be an issue, I haven't seen him in much so I don't know.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 Forget about who is going to be Ras Al Ghul , I want to know what hot babe they are going to cast as Talia. I mean if Ra is in the movie, she has to be in it too.
Ravenbomb Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 they'll probably try to get Jennifer Connely or someone like that

Guest Digapony Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 I'm feeling some one like Jason Issacs to be Ras Al Ghul. Someone who is older but not too old.
Guest El Satanico Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 I'm feeling some one like Jason Issacs to be Ras Al Ghul. Someone who is older but not too old. I just googled him because I didn't know him by name. He wouldn't be bad, if he could pull off the physical aspect. I think Rickman is still the best choice we've mentioned. He has the refined english man stuff down and he can be imposing when he needs to be. What about Tim Curry? Only problem is that he may ham it up too much.
Ted the Poster Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 God, I can't belive I didn't know any of Alan Rickman's roles. Until a google search made me say "Oh! The Snape guy from Harry Potter!". Then I hit myself with my copy of Dogma, looked at my Buddy Christ figure and said "Who's your buddy?" Anyway, damn straight he'd be a good choice. So would Ben Kingsley, though. Both of those guys would very possibly OWN that role. Oh and I'd like to nominate Steve Buscemi for The Scarecrow(because it'll mostly just be his creepy voice) and in a future Batman movie, Martin Short should be the Mad Hatter!
Vern Gagne Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 As Martin Short ever played a dramtic role before?
Ravenbomb Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 no, but he DID play the mad hatter in a TV version of Alice in Wonderland
caboose Posted September 13, 2003 Report Posted September 13, 2003 In this picture, I get a strange James Woods vibe...
