Lightning Flik Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Yeah, I only had 1 guy play yesterday. I know. I'm just picking on you. Besides, I doubt I'll have THAT big of a strangle hold on ya when we hit Sat 11th. That'll even things out quite a bit.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 So the winner will be declared on the 12th? I did well in the +/- and GWG stats but my goalie lost ground in the GAA.
MrRant Posted October 10, 2003 Author Report Posted October 10, 2003 Your goalie points can be taken away I think if your goalies don't make a total of 3 apperances in a week for all of them.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Well the goalies made 2 appearences already so it will most likely count.
LaParkaMarka Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Ok, so my opponent gets a tie. Having more ties counts as a point? That is bizarre. Games started seems like a weird stat to keep as well. Could we change it to stick with just Wins, maybe? Or Wins/Losses? That seems better. It's a statistical category that IS important. How many teams have won a playoff position by a single point from a tie? A lot. Besides, they worked hard for that tie, and deservedly so. Thus it should be classified. And it's the person who has the most totals for that category that gets a point. Which is why I'm currently up 11-1 against the Leafs. Ok, think about it like this. Your teams goalies win ever game that week. Yay! Your opponents' goalies tie every game that week. Yet in terms of points in the fantasy league, both teams will be tied (your team wins the wins, they win ties, you tie for losses). Maybe I'm in the minority here, but this is wrong. Ties shouldn't have the same weight as wins, not by a longshot.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 What is PIM? I have 6 in this catagory and do not have a clue as what it means.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 So whenever a goon draws blood and goes to the penalty box for awhile I get one PIM?
LaParkaMarka Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 You should get more than one if he draws blood. Most penalties are 2 mins. A double minor is 4 minutes. A major penalty is...uh...5? I think? Somehting like that.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 I have 3 players with 2 PIMs a piece.
razazteca Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Somebody explain to me why having alot of PIMs is a good thing?
the max Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 It's generally not. The guys that rack up PIM's are protecting their often more expensive teammates from big checks and unnecessary stuff after the play is stopped. They are the enforcers of the team, who fight to get momentum going for their team as well.
razazteca Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 I just don't understand in the league why having a higher number in PIM will win the stat catagory. I would think it is a negative but obviously it is a positive. Crazy Canadian sport.
MrRant Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 And usually they are the defenceman right? So wouldn't they technically be doing their job by roughing up the other team's star players?
the max Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Sometimes they are defensemen, but the forward enforcers are more prominent now. Defensemen are expected to be big, but not cripple their team with penalties.
MrRant Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 I'm still trying to figure out the scoring....
razazteca Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 My thinking in this was PIM was more or less the same thing as a turnover............don't do it. But now it seems to be like a Blades of Steel or Midway SportZ game.
MrRant Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 Of the league. Is it going by who is winning the most statistical categories?
the max Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 I'm guessing that they assume that the higher the number in each category, the better. It's not so in PIM or GAA. Check the GAA. If the person with the highest GAA won that category, the league numbers are fucked.
razazteca Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 That is the way it looks. I am losing 11-3, I need Goaltender stats to tomorrow just to play catch up.
the max Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 I'd ask the person in charge of that. If it's MrRant, I'd ask someone in charge at Yahoo.
MrRant Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 No lowest is leading the category for now. I lead in PIM and +/-
MrRant Posted October 11, 2003 Author Report Posted October 11, 2003 Why is raza losing 11-3 in PIM then? He's only winning 3 stat categories and the other team is winning 11. Raza is winning Attempts, PPP, and GWG. He's losing PIM's 10-12.
