The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

Whoa! TNT has an 11pm showing of Angel tonight and it's the Season Premiere of Season 4 that they're showing.

You would be correct. I looked ahead on the TNT schedule, and when I checked last week it looks like they're just going to be showing season 4 eps once a week in this slot...not bad at all.

Or you can just own season 4 on DVD, like me.

If the Buffy convention was anywhere near the Northeast, I'd go. Damn Nashville.

Buffy didn't do as well on UPN as it did on WB...

UPN would have to be worried that this could repeat itself...as Angel doesn't do Buffy numbers.

True, but Angel's a BRAND taht carries an audience around with it, somewhat.

What does UPN have? The Mullets?

Right now, Angel is doing just as well as Buffy did last season.

Lets face it, WB doesn't get shit for ratings. WB averaged a 3.0 last week, Angel got a 3.8. From what I could find, only "7th Heaven" with a 4.7 and "Smallville" with a 4.3, did better than Angel. Being the 3rd best show on the network, it looks pretty good for the show.

If WB cancels Angel, it would make little sense to me.

That's the point Mole.

It's doing as good as Buffy did LAST season on UPN...which is worse than Buffy did on the WB.

Angel would take a loss too.

Buffy was supposed to have the same audience that would carry over to UPN...but it didn't work that way.

UPN is a black hole of bad ratings.

Okay, I missed the point then.

WB should just keep Angel, it is their 3rd best show.

I didn't watch Buffy back then, but I remember reading about it in Entertainment Weekly. EW always had a hard on for Buffy, and wrote about them a lot. EW basically said that WB was dumb, and they should of kept the show.

UPN treated it like any old show, while WB advertised it as a flagship show, which it was. I remember seeing them advertise Buffy when I watched Dawson's Creek, and they made it as if it were a big show.

I remember them talking about Angel moving to UPN too, but that didn't happen obviously.

All I gotta say is UPN sucks, and without Smackdown they would be gone.

Ahhhhhhhh TNT is showing it in Full Screen and parts are cut off!!!

Full screen? Bah, it doesn't look good at all.

That's why you need to get it on DVD from Ebay....

Well until I can get the DVD I'll still watch the Tuesday showing of Season 4 because I didn't see all of it last time.

Yeah I hear ya.

I didn't see the beginning of last season at all. I tuned in to "Salvage" when Faith came back. I thought the season was good from then -- but when I got the DVD and saw it from the beginning it was even better.

Tell me who didn't mark out in "Apoclypse Nowish" when Wes wips out a fuckin shotgun to take out The Beast. Now that is gansta!

That is so true! Other than the Season Six premiere and OMWF, UPN never had decent hype for the show. Like you said, WB treated it as top tier, since it was just that. Certain episodes weren't just episodes, they were hyped as big events. The promos WB created destroyed pretty much anything UPN ever did.

I REALLY hate it how UPN treated the end of Buffy. They had the Michelle Branch song with Buffy just walking down the stairs or something saying only 2 episodes left, or whatever.

Atleast UPN had a good "OMWF" poster, which proudly hangs in my room.

Spike's back to the slicked-back hair.

You know, I missed the ENTIRE season 3, with the exception of the last episode. And I forgot how Season 4 started, and I don't remember much of it up untill the Reign of Fire, when they stopped really dwelling on the past season and started going forwards more.

Watching the season opener again, and yeah, Angel needs a trim. Also noticed the masked wrestler. cute.

Did you notice Wes almost trip and bust his ass(back to the clumsy Wes that we all know) and the Fred and Charles share a little look and walk off all awkward? It little throwbacks like that to let me know that a: Whedon wrote it. and b: they don't forget character nuances for us that have been there for the long run.

Speaking of Whedon as a director, does anybody truly realise how much loyalty he commands? Seriously. Look at Buffy- a bunch of bit characters would come back again and again. Like Amy, who made a 2 second cameo in Season 4. Or when Jenny would come back as The First during the Christmas ep. It's truly amazing, when you think about it.

Well...it's not like their doing anything....well...except for Robia being all hawt. :D

But seriously, just the end of the season 7 premire showed how willing the actors were to come back.

Yeah, but Dru made more sense taunting Spike than Angel did...of course the Master and Mayor Wilkins made absolutely no sense whatsoever but hey...its my excuse for the show and I'm sticking to it.

Actually, it made perfect sense- All of the previous Big Bads, all taunting Spike. That's why Dru was a little out of place.

But any excuse to see Dru is fine with me;)
