The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

On one of the commentary tracks someone said, who escapes my mind at the moment, that the tattoo was something Cordy wouldn't have. Basically, it was against her character or something.

Yeah. "Blind Date" is one of my favorite episodes from Season 1, because of the Lindsey's 'betrayal' and the infiltration of W&H. Gunn had a great line, too.

Eh, I don't really like season 1 at all.

I didn't much care for it either. But it did have a few good episodes, the Faith arc, Spike's monologue, Angel and Wesley dancing.

Then there were a lot of bad or throw away episodes, but nothing to terrible.

But all in all, I'm glad I didn't pay for it:)

I agree. The first season had its moments, but it wasn't fantastic.

One thing I don't get is people's fondness for Doyle. Hell, the series didn't even get good until AFTER he kicked the bucket. Why do people care about Doyle? Wes totally blows Doyle away in every singe way possible. And in several ways that are impossible.

Yeah, because god forbid the show should have a light hearted episode. No, no, everything has to be dark and dreary and serious all the time.

Dude, PUPPETS. C'mon.

The only time puppets were ever NOT cheesy was "Meet the Feebles".

I'll give them credit, though - it wasn't anything retarded like the goddamn musical episode that every single one of you seem to love.

But anyway.....here's some possible spoilers. Don't think they've been posted here before.

OK are you ready for some GOOD news....

This info is for episode 5x18 taken from spoilerslayer.com:

Angel: Episode 18

"In the offices of Wolfram and Hart, Wesley is looking for information on Cyrus Vail.

Vail is actually a very old and wise demon sorcerer (think Lo Pan - 'Big Trouble In Little China'). He's just received a visit from a very angry Angel, who just killed all of his guards. Angel thought Vail was trying to kill Connor, which wasn't the case. Vail needed Connor to know who he was. Angel doesn't understand how Vail knows about Connor, and we discover that Vail helped set up Connor's dream-life scenario.

Wesley discovers that Vail pulled together mystical resources and sorcerers from around California, to cast an extremely powerful spell the day Angel Investigations signed the deal with Wolfram and Hart.

Angel is learning why, as Vail fills him in on the details of the fantasy life they built for Connor. The truth is, Vail needs Angel's help. He needs someone killed, another familiar name from the past, Sahjahn.

Angel figures this shouldn't be a problem, as he's still where Angel left him back in Season 3, in the Resikhian Urn. Which Vail just happens to have. Angel wants to leave him there, but Vail realizes correctly that he would still be a threat. Urns are breakable.

He gives Angel some extra incentive. Either he'll help Vail, or Vail will use another spell to remove Connor's false memories. Angel reluctantly agrees to kill Sahjahn.

But there's a slight catch-22 involved. The prophecy foretelling Sahjahn's death, describes the only person who can kill him. Connor. Vail gave him the perfect life, and now Angel has to take it away from him."

I liked Doyle because in the beginning he was the only character that wasn't a Buffy character.

Then they killed him and brought in another Buffy character to take his place.

Thankfully they finally got their own characters at the end of season 1 with Gunn, then the next year with Lorne and Fred.

Also, you have no idea that Doyle wouldn't have ended up being even better than Wesley is now. Wesley was still pretty much the nerd he was on Buffy when he joined the cast of Angel.

Doyle's character had a lot of depth with being half-demon and getting the visions. He was just very likeable overall.

Doyle, compared to Wesley at the same time in the Buffyverse, was a more likeable and enjoyable character. Also, there was so much potential there for character growth because they developed him SO well in those eight or so episodes he was in while alive.

Also, I agree with bps. It was nice to see an original character instead of a BTVS alum, and then he's dead and in comes Wesley when he was still just a nancyboy geek. Wesley got really cool, but if I had to choose between Doyle and Wesley in his first episodes on Angel, I'd go with Doyle.

Well, looks like we know who will be writing the last three episodes. DeKnight is taking episode 20 (possibly co-written with Goddard again), Fury has 21, and Jeffrey Bell is writing the finale because of Joss' commitment with the Firefly movie.

(got this from the spoilerslayer.com article about a David Fury Q&A)

So with the last Joss ep this week, Goddard writing 18 (supposedly), and the last three, we're in for a hell of a ride.

So, the Firefly movie is actually happening?

I am in the middle of season 6, again, and episodes 7-11 are an amazing run. Same with Angel season 3, 7-11 are amazing. IMHO, that is the strongest both series have been at the same time.

No because the OC is EVILLLL.

If there wasn't an OC, Angel's rating would be higher.

You'd think that with all the cash he'd be raking in from the OC, that Adam Brody'd get his tongue reduced in size so that he doesn't sound like he has a mouth full of marbles whenever he talks. I swear, even his small part in the Ring had me wanting to throw my television out the window. ;p
