The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Wonderful quote from the WB's little feedback thing for the final ep:

tru calling

REMEMBER THE HALLOWEEN PARTY GUNN PEEING ALL OVER THE OFFICE AND WES SHOES WES SAID GUNN YOU PEED ON MY SHOES.

If you want to see a bunch of awful, hilarious feedback from people who pretty much entirely missed the point of the finale, go here and click on the "See more Feedback" link.

I'm baffled by the people who think the show should've ended with Angel becoming human and getting back together with Buffy again. Um, "The Girl in Question" was just two episodes ago!

The only way Angel turning human could've worked was him going outside into the sun (see "Into the Dark" for his facial expressions) and then - BOOM! - he gets run over. Now THERE'S an ending. Maybe have Spike say something hilarious from the shade and then cut to "Executive Producer: Joss Whedon"

here's a thought, about the whole Shanshu thing. What if it had already been fulfilled before they even knew about it? Angel became human in season 1 and had it undone. He could've already gotten his reward thing and wished it away years ago.

I thought Shanshu was getting his humanity after saving the world. He didn't really save the world by then, unless you count "making eye movements".

He helped kill The Mayor. Besides, I don't think that it ever specifically said saving the world, just that he'd have to go through a bunch of stuff that he could have already gone through.

Woah, woah, woah, woah, that is a REALLY good question. What if the prophecy had already been filled?

Hell, for all we know there could have been a vampire with a soul before Angel.

I've always wondered about gypsies and their history. Atleast in the Buffyverse.

On another note, we are going to kill the Buffy thread at this rate. Page 111 started on July 15th for the Buffy thread, while page 111 started on May 22nd for the Angel thread.

I'd still like to learn more about the demon that merged its blood with a human's blood.

And I wanna know why christian things hurt vampires. Is it just christian things or would any religion work?

I believe it would be just Christian things. In the Buffyverse Mythology, along with other vampire mythology, Christianity is the only way a vampire can be hurt, ie cross, holy water, etc.

Have you ever seen a vampire movie where somone wiped out Budda and a vampire ran way? I think vampires are purely a Christian thing.

I loved the part in Mummy when that snivelling character (Manny?) starting whipping out religious symbols one by one and praying to em. Finally the Star of David saved his ass. Sorta.

They should do that sometime in a Buffyverse show. Throw little minature Ganeshas at vampires, or their Indian equivalents.

I guess you could say they kind of brought it up when they were de-inviting Angel(us) from Willow's home in "Passion", when they were putting the crosses up.

WILLOW: I'm gonna have a hard time explaining this to my dad.

BUFFY: You really think it'll bother him?

WILLOW: Ira Rosenberg's only daughter nailing crucifixes to her bedroom wall? I have to go over to Xander's house just to watch 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' every year.

BUFFY: I see your point.

WILLOW: Although it is worthwhile to see him do the Snoopy Dance.

Yeah, okay, I kept the Snoopy Dance part of the dialogue because I like it. :) But, while they didn't come out and say "ONLY CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS WORK ON VAMPIRES", I guess you could say they subtlely said that, since Willow's all Jewish and everything.

Shrug.

If Angel gets credit for beating Wilkins then Andrew, Anya and the Buffybot are like uber champions. Angel's role in that fight was about the same as Percy and Larry's.

Not that there was ever any doubt about Anya's status as a champ.

Angel had no part in killing the Mayor.

Like the entire Connor arc in season 3. All of the eps follow each other and are just like multiple parts to one big ep so much that it's hard to pinpoint one as a single great episode.

Er, nope.

"Lullaby," "Loyalty," "Sleep Tight," and "Forgiving" are all memorable episodes in the Connnar arc.

The birth eps all bleed together, then there's that break with Provider and waiting in the wings and stuff, then they start flowing together again till the end.

From Buffy.nu:

To (mostly) recap, here’s where the former Buffiverse writers have landed so far:

Jeff Bell (Joss Whedon’s co-writer on the spectacular just-aired “Angel” series finale) is headed to “Alias.”

Liz Craft & Sarah Fain (they scripted Hamilton’s introduction in the five-star “Underneath”) have been asked to join “The Shield.”

Steve DeKnight (he co-scripted the hilarious Italy-set “Angel” that aired two weeks ago) is headed to “Smallville.”

Jane Espenson (“Earshot,” “The Replacement,” “I Was Made To Love You”), who worked on both “The O.C.” and “Gilmore Girls” last year, is joining “Tru Calling.”

Drew Goddard (DeKnight’s co-writer on “The Girl in Question”) is headed to “Alias.”

Drew Z. Greenberg (“Him,” “The Killer in Me,” “Empty Places”), who was scripting “Smallville” last season, is joining “The O.C.”

Rebecca Rand Kirshner (“Help,” “Touched”), who was on “Las Vegas” this season, is joining “Gilmore Girls.”

Buffiverse mastermind Joss Whedon, who wrote more “Angel” teleplays this season than ever before, is directing the big-screen “Firefly” movie, “Serenity.”

If you, constant reader, have heard of any employment motion among the other Buffiverse writer-types, drop us a line. For this just-concluding season Tim Minear was at “Wonderfalls,” David Greenwalt at “Jake 2.0,” David Fury at “Angel,” Marti Noxon at (the still unaired Fox drama) “Still Life,” Doug Petrie at “Tru Calling,” and Mere Smith at “Tarzan.”

Guest reekspeak

I have to admit that quite a few S2 eps bled together for me when nominating, I had no problems with the other seasons though, S4 in particular I could nominate with ease which is extraordinary considering every episode of that season took place in an arc.

Also "Unlike Buffy the storyarc eps of Angel all bleed together" doesn't hold true for me either, I would have just as much trouble nominating in the last three seasons of Buffy as I did with S2 Angel.

The point is, that makes them unmemorable and they don't really stand out on their own. I don't like the idea of naming something the best ep ever when it's just a small part of a bigger story like those.

The Darla arc in season 2 is a really good example of the bleeding togetherness.

Buffy hardly does it for me. The big exception being season 7. I think the difference is that Buffy eps, even the big arc ones, will have more monster of the weeky hijinks. Like on Buffy the main focus of an ep will be the wacky gimmick situation they're currently, in, and the arc stuff is built as subplots.
