Okay, the Hamilton/Adam/BEAST argument, taken match by match:

 

Hamilton vs. Adam: maybe the toughest fight to call, as they seem about equal in strength and demeanor. I'd guess that Hamilton is the stronger off the two; he didn't fling Buffy through walls with tremendous glee like Hamilton did to Angel and Connor. And he's probably bulletproof, though Adam's rocket launcher might put a dent in him. I'd have to say it's a toss-up.

 

Adam vs. The BEAST: Adam would have no idea about the special dagger. BEAST smash, Adam die.

 

BEAST vs. Hamilton: if Wolfram & Hart happened to provide Ham with the dagger, he could very well have a fighting chance; on the other hand, the BEAST has a proven track record at being highly efficient in ripping WR&H's collective heads off, so he'd probably win this one too.

 

Oh, and Caleb could most likely kick all three of their asses. It took the Slayer Axe-wielding Buffy being helped (though not much) by Angel to even make a dent in him. Yeah, the BEAST fucked up Faith pretty well, but not nearly as much as Caleb was clearly about to do to her; plus, Caleb has proven pretty trusty at finding hidden secret weapons type stuff, so the special dagger thing probably wouldn't hinder him much. All in all, he seems to have been the strongest villain in the show's history. Who else could shrug off Buffy, Faith, Spike, and Willow... all at the same time?

 

 

EDIT: and oh yeah, forgot about Evil Willow and Evil Ilyria. Hard to say exactly where they'd fit in, since they were never really defeated in combat by anybody, ever.

Cordy just seems lame. Like I think about Anya, Wesley or Fred being dead all the time. I think about how they have no future now and how they're never going to see the gang again and all that and its really depressing. I think of them as if they are real people. With Cordy it's just like whatever. I watch season 3 of Angel and don't really think that Cordy is now dead. I watch season 5 of Buffy and like get really upset thinking that Anya is gone. Tara dying is also depressing, but partly because Will is now with that awful Kennedy. Whenever I daydream about what the scoobies are doing now Kennedy is never there.

 

I can't believe they actually considered killing Xander. That's just crazy. I couldn't handle Willow or Xander dying. It would just be devestating.

Adam could beat both Caleb and Hamilton because they could both be penetrated by bullets (Caleb being killed by the scythe and hamilton being bitten) and Adam has a freaking machine gun for a hand. Caleb and Hammy would have to be superfast to punch a hole through his chest and avoid the bullets - and their speed isn't really shown on the show... they just walk... None of them could kill THE BEAST though, because he couldn't be penetrated at all expect by his own bone - which we can assume they don't have in their possession.

Caleb is massively overrated. After watching the 5 eps he's in the past few days I think of him a lot less. He is strong, but I don't see where you're all getting that he's THAT strong from.

 

 

He didn't shrug them all off. He never even met Willow. He fought Spike and Faith for like 10 seconds. He knocked Spike down, but a lot of people have done that and they only fought that one brief time. They all bailed before the fight was over. Dirty Girls is the only time he comes into contact with the scoobies other than Buffy. In Empty Places he attacks Buffy, but it isn't much of a fight. In Touched Buffy avoids his attacks and gets away from him. In End of Days she beats him. In Chosen she beats him. Buffy used the syche, but it's not like it was what won. It was just a weapon. It's not like super laser beams shot out of it and zapped him or something. She just cut him open with it. She could have done the same with a sword. Once she knew his strength and had her determination back she was able to take him on, as we saw in Touched, EOD and Chosen. He was strong, but no way does he compare to someone like Glory or Beast.

I think it would have been really interesting if they had killed off Willow and Xander. Of course, I get a kick out of major characters dying horrible and gruesome deaths (thanks a lot, George RR Martin)

Joss has said before that he'd never, never kill off Willow. Don't know if that would extend to Xander as well.

Unresolved storylines, annoying as hell SITs, weak big bad, horrible finale coupled with horrible eps (how many times can they just sit there and talk about how big the battle will be?), Buffy getting kicked out, all the cop outs at the end (uh, yeah everyone can beat Ubies. That magical Scythe nobody ever heard of until the very end is the key. Every girl is a Slayer now, BTW), and so much more.

 

ARRRGH.

I actually liked the activation of all the Slayers' powers. It was an imaginative and ballsy move, and was about the only chance of a personally happy ending for Buffy, as she wasn't alone anymore. But yeah, the rest all sucked hardcore. Even the fairly cool stuff like Caleb was mistimed in terms of when he was brought in and sent back out.

The worst thing is that during the season it seemed really good. Some of the earlier eps, especially something like CWDP. You really think it's going somewhere, except it isn't. Bah. Angel S5 was so much better.

 

Oh, and I think Brian should continue his Connor script thingee. It got lost in the shuffle of Tuesday Night Angel Chat or whatever.

I believe RRR said this (or someone else, I don't care) but with all the lame stuff going on in Season 7 for Buffy, Angel Season 4 is having an actual huge apocalypse. THE BEAST~!, Jasmine corrupting everyone, all that stuff, and really it makes Buffy and her crew look really bad.

There's no scooby spirit in season 7. The whole spirit of the show is that all this crazy stuff is happening and the world is going to end but they're still the scoobies. They're still having fun. They're still friends. They're normal people dealing with all the wacky nonsense in Sunnydale. In season 7 it's SO gloomy. It's just GIRLS WILL DIE! THIS IS A WAR! WE ARE AN ARMY!. An "army"? Jeez. That's not fun at all. It's like they take it too seriously. Buffy is a "general" or whatever. It just doesn't work. Buffy as a serious epic sci fi/fantasy show with this WAR is just goofy. It's a bunch of people living in a house! What makes the scoobies cool is that they're NOT action heroes. Trying to act like they are in S7 is just lame. They don't have the budget for it either. Buffy keeps spazzing out about how huge this evil is and how they are in this gigantic epic battle but it's just like Bringer henchmen and one ubie, then later a priest. You can't take that serious. They never seem to have fun either. Buffy is too busy being a bitchy general. Willow is too busy doubting herself. Giles is too busy being sucked into a timewarp and acting like Giles from 1997. Anya is too busy being bitterly sarcastic and mean spiritied. Xander is just there, probably trying to find his missing story arc. They never interact. You never see the group joking around or just chilling out. You never see them go out and do something real world then get into a wacky situation. When you do it's like one scene and the hightlight of the ep. The whole thing is just "lets sit at Buffy's house and hype each other up about how this is a WAR~! Have I mentioned GIRLS WILL DIE?"

One good thing about her Cordy's death was that her story was told. She "came back" for "You're Welcome" to put Angel back on the right track; work for the PTB and do the right thing.

Caleb was brought in so late because they never planned for him to come in. They realized FE wasn't working and wanted a new villain. That is so telling. That just shows how disorganized they were and what a mess things must have been behind the scenes.

 

 

 

I was the one to bring up the apocalyse that goes on at the same time. It's sooo true. Buffy is just freaking out about how GIRLS WILL DIE over Bringers and just hours away it is raining fire. It really makes the stuff on Buffy look weaksauce.

While we're on the topic, the thing I hate most out of Season 7 is Buffy getting kicked out of her house. She's been paying your bills for 2 years, saving all of your asses for 7, is preparing you as best she can (with little to no help, really) for a "big" war, and she gets a little rough with them so they kick her out of HER house? Ugh.

 

That or Rona, Kennedy, and the rest of the SITs.

 

God I hate Season 7.

Yes, that is terrible. I can see the SITs turning on her, but the scoobies going along with it is just awful. Willow siding with Kennedy is unbelievable. Anya's behavior regresses several years when she rants to Buffy. Giles is mean and overly serious like old school Giles all year. Xander, injured or not, turning on her is ridiculous. Dawn of all people turning on her is just insane. That whole thing is just horrible.

 

The reason they turn on her is dumb too. All she was saying is that they have to go after Caleb in the vineyard. She is RIGHT. She is clearly right. He obviously had something there. They are all like "we need proof". WTF? When have they EVER been like that? When was it ever about proof? Caleb is baddie. Caleb chills at Vineyard. What more proof do they need? She was open to suggestions and strategies, but they just ignored that.

I'll post my thoughts on Season 7 later, but after watching it again,it has fallen down a bit. But it's not the worst season- that honor goes to season 1, for obvious reasons.

I've got a journal piece I'm finishing up, but after that I'm going to edit the first script, extend it a little (because I'm short), title it, and then later totally clean it up and add a cast (so you can get an idea what these people look like).I'm dropping Faith, and saving her for later. Then I'll get a second one up.

 

In "Chosen", the Buffy/Spike scene at the end is really touching scene. Especially being a fan of Spike. Him actually feeling his soul, and telling Buffy that she doesn't really love him but thanks anyway.

Spike feeling his soul is good, but that scene just doesn't have the emotion or power of some other big death scenes on Buffy. It just falls flat.

Well, that's changed! Fox formally announced the release just at the close of business today. They verified the Sept. 7th release date we reported, and gave additional information of course.

 

With a 6-DVD set presented in 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ration, expect a list price of $59.98 in the USA and CA$89.98 in Canada. English Dolby 2.0 sound is available, as is a French soundtrack as well. Look for subtitles in English and Spanish.

i personally can't wait as i loved season 4 and is my fav so far(i actually enjoy connor's character), although i haven't seen 5 as i got hooked on angel this year with the tnt reruns and just watched not fade away this season.

I don't have the cash to invest in the entire series right now, but I'd splurge and buy Season 5 if it comes out anytime soon. Mostly because Not Fade Away was one of the finest hours of television I've seen in a long time.

Wow! The cover art is a big pic of Angel, with Cordy and vamped out Angel behind him. I'm so shocked.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Cordy is STILL there for season 5.

On the Canadian channel Space, they're showing Home tonight (right now, actually), and re-starting the whole Angel series tomorrow with City Of. I may take this opportunity to do some good, ol' fashioned, money-conscious video taping.

 

With Buffy, they showed The Gift tonight (and re-playing at 3AM, which I'll probably watch), and starting season 6 tomorrow with Bargaining Pt. 1. That's no fun, though, since I've already got S6 from its first run, as far as I know.
