Guest croweater Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 I cried And was quite devistated and surprised for a while after the show. I've actually wondered for a while why they chose her and now I think that it's obvious. It fits with her story so perfectly. Her struggle to become mortal was finally complted by her doing the only thing that a mortal can that others can't. They wanted to end it for everybody and that was really the only logical conclusion to end Anyanka's story.
Anya Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Good job getting me started on this. I am still devestated. Unfortunetly, it had nothing to do with redemption or making her a hero. Joss had always wanted to kill someone major out of no where, with no build and no payoff, and he picked her out of convienence. His own words... I couldn’t kill any of my core four and still call it a happy ending. I couldn’t kill Dawn and still call it a happy ending, either, so Anya got the nod. And to make it as unheroic as possible just felt very real and very creepy and that shot was in fact her last shot. He also claims he needed the battle to have a "toll". That's great and stuff, but it ends about 1 minute after and none of the characters even sell the cost of the battle at the end so what's it matter? He also says that since Emma wasn't coming back she was a good choice. WTF? The series is OVER. NOBODY'S coming back except guest appearances on other shows. Nicky's not coming back, that doesn't mean Xander must die. Last month he also said killing her was "funny". Whedon is a jerk! He wasn't even going to have the Andrew scene at the end. Originally there was going to be no payoff at all. He added it in because he felt bad about it. He says nobody caring is "short hand" so he could do a happy ending. Whaaaaat? The fact that she is gone hurts me bad, but I could probably deal if it meant something. But the lack of respect she got is just awful. I can't believe the nerve of Joss thinking it's still a happy ending, especially for Xander. The logic of "if you were on the show for 7 years it's unhappy if you die, but if you were only on for 4 then everybody is hugs and puppies after you die" makes no sense. It's horrible writing. He should be ashamed. Seeing Xander talk about the mall and starbucks just makes me want to weep.
Guest croweater Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Thankyou for getting me out of obvious denial. I shall now be depressed for the rest of the day. I like my version of reasoning better though still.
Anya Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 So do I. I often think the same thing. She choose to be human and in the end, died a very human death. All the scoobies are now proud of her and take back the mean things they've ever said or done to her. She proved she was a champion. Then I think of her getting cut and Joss thinking it's funny and I weep.
Guest croweater Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 Just remember the good times Anya dancing in her sexy red underwear/pajama things for example.
Anya Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 That's what I do. I think of those times all the time. Watch a lot of eps too. I watch OMWF like once a week and listen to the soundtrack all the time. I got the Darkness Falls DVD yesterday. I have to do my part to support EC. I also ordered the new Anya figure that comes with the Magic Box counter and cash register. I might order another signed by her. Her new movie, Bandwagon, still hasn't found anyone to distribute it. They're thinking about just releasing it on DVD. They need to do SOMETHING. I'm tired of waiting.
Ravenbomb Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 I'd love to tackle the idea of the First in Angel. I think the First in Amends knew that the vampire with a soul was going stop its apocalypse, and it tried to turn Angel to take it out of the picture, and would have settled with Angel killing himself. aside from lack of Jasmine, it'd have been interesting if the First encompassed both shows. Maybe the extra exposure for it would help fill in the holes
Guest Brian Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 They dug themselves some pretty big holes.
Ravenbomb Posted September 26, 2004 Report Posted September 26, 2004 but if it was spread between the two shows then they might have had fewer or smaller holes.
Guest Brian Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 Conviction was on TNT today. I love Angel and the cars.
Mole Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 I talked to some girl on the phone the other day, she was hanging out with my friend Kobi when I called him, and we started talking about Buffy. Well we started quizing eachother and she FUCKIN STUMPED ME. I don't remember the question, but it was some random ass question. I couldn't think of any hard questions, so I couldn't stump her back.
Anakin Flair Posted September 28, 2004 Report Posted September 28, 2004 For those that didn't know, Charisma Carpenter was recently on Charmed. Here is a screencap from Buffy.nu: All I got to say is DAMN she looks good again.
Crowe Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 whoa. Charmed is still on? No shit, eh? Crap like Charmed keeps going another season, while gold like Angel gets put down. *spits*
Anya Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I take back wanting Buffy to end. Even though S7 is weak, it's still new Buffy. I want new Buffy. Even if there was no Emma, I'd be ok if Tom Lenk became a regular. I just need something new. A Faith spinoff, Spike, SIT school...even a Kennedy spin off. I am worried those TV movies are never coming.
Guest Brian Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Connor! Connor! Joss, you can plagiarize all you want.
Anya Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Connor would be cool too. Last night I had a dream about a Buffy movie. It was pretty awesome. It was a reunion after like 10 years.
Mole Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 If it will ever happen, it will be with Faith.
Anya Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Which sucks. It should be a scooby. A regular scooby. None of the other characters have ever matched the scoobies.
AnonymousBroccoli Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Lullaby was just on Space. Really crammed with parental emotion, which hits me pretty strongly somehow. I'm almost glad I didn't watch this stuff very attently the first time around. Makes it feel new. There isn't much else on TV that's grabbing my attention, so it's certainly welcome.
Anakin Flair Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 whoa. Charmed is still on? No shit, eh? Crap like Charmed keeps going another season, while gold like Angel gets put down. *spits* Actually, Charmed used to be quite good during the first 3-4 seasons, untill they killed off Cole (and The Source) and started doing all of the corny 'theme' episodes. And Anyanka, I believe I read somewhere (probably Buffy.nu) that Eliza Dushku was open and willing to do a Faith TV movie, and it may be possible since Fox (suprise suprise) cut their order of Tru Calling down to, I THINK, 6 episodes. I'm betting the show doesn't last this season. I just hope they release season 1 on DVD sometime soon so I can finally see the show.
dubq Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Which sucks. It should be a scooby. A regular scooby. None of the other characters have ever matched the scoobies. You're right. Faith's character actually surpassed the regular scoobies rather than matching them. I'd rather have a Faith spin-off than a lame Willow or Xander one..
dubq Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 I got the Darkness Falls DVD yesterday. Dude, fan or not, that movie was f'n horrible! Just... HORRIBLE.
Ravenbomb Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Which sucks. It should be a scooby. A regular scooby. None of the other characters have ever matched the scoobies. You're right. Faith's character actually surpassed the regular scoobies rather than matching them. I'd rather have a Faith spin-off than a lame Willow or Xander one.. yeah
Guest reek Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 We'll never get a true Buffyverse show again, even if Joss and Eliza do find time for something Faith related. The backbone of the show is the writers and producers and most have gone onto bigger projects (or have bigger titles at least) and are probably tied down to big fat contracts. I think Doug Petrie is the only big name who isn't involved in anything now. As great as Joss is, he didn't make the shows what they were alone and I can't imagine him finding a new set of writers that would have the same spark.
Anya Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Yeah, I'm worried about that more than the actors. There's tons of actors they could use for a spin off, but the writers all seem to be locked up. Darkness Falls isn't horrible.
Golgo 13 Posted September 29, 2004 Report Posted September 29, 2004 Yes it is. It's the same bland, generic, cookie cutter, white washed and toned down supernatural thriller pap we've seen these past few years.
RavishingRickRudo Posted September 30, 2004 Report Posted September 30, 2004 For Buffy fans, if you didn't believe me when I said that LOST could fill your Whedonverse Void, their next episode is called "Tabula Rasa". It's a sign. It's not too late, ABC is airing the full 2 hour pilot on Saturday.
