Drew Goddard brings it. I'm incredibly pleased to see that he handles Angel as well as he does Buffy. This episode was great, and the shot of Wes shooting his robo-father the instant he threatened Fred spoke mountains and mountains.

Great ending, too. Drew Goddard seems especially good at bringing issues of the family into the Buffyverse, after his efforts with "Lies" last year. And major kudos - see how much better Spike is without bloody and mate all the time? I really, really, really liked this episode.

You're right...Spike was totally on fire tonight.

(Lights go out)

Spike: "You'll never take me to hell Rebane!!!"

(Emergency lights come on and Eve looks confused)

Spike: "Oh...that's just something I say...when the lights go off."

Have they been using the "previously on..." this season??

I believe they did it for the second episode, but that's it, I think.

And yeah, Goddard delivered again.

Yeah, Wes unloading on his pops was gold. To bad Fred eithr A. Ignored what it really meant, why he would kill his own father for her or B. just didn't care. Damn Knox.

I already know what happens next week, and I still cant wait.

1. YEAH!! YEAH!! YEAH!!! DOUBLE GUNZ MOTHAFUKKAZ! Now, all we needed was the shotgun and extendo-knife and all would have been well in the Wesleyverse.

2. Spikes line about "head boy" was fucking Wesley Windham Pryce-less.

3. Eve was so not rockin da foxy tonight. I mean, would a raised eyebrow or perhaps a long saunter down the hall have killed her???

4. The references to past eps. were freaking great tonight. Spike saying that people can have sex with robots too was a total mark-out moment (you know, cause of Season 5 and the Buffybot... I mean, it's not like I marked out for personal reasons... oh boy, back into hiding I go...)

5. It really fucking sucks that this could be the last season, cause all the character development they are doing is fucking brilliant.

6. This eps. was rather mild - I got what I expected and they hit every note they could and should have, but I was hoping for more... more of what, I don't know. I think the robots ruined it. I was more interested in the watchers storyline. However, the "let's make Angel our puppet" angle was pretty cool.

7. Wes shooting robodad so quickly after he threatened Fred was fucking BOSSOME~! He needs to brood more like he did when he was at his badass peak.

8. I liked how they tied everything up, with the beginning and Angel not trusting Wes because he kidnapped his son and then in the end he did because he killed his father. There was that sort of righteous bond between them where blood may be thicker than water, but the greater good is thicker than blood.

9. They REALLY gotta explain what they put in the place of Connor in the minds of everyone else cause I wanna know!

10. Spike - in general - was golden.

11. I liked Knox in the beginning, but now he is starting to annoy me. Though I like his references to the "old regime".

12. Fred was soooo channeling Willow early-season 5 in some parts of this.

13. Gunn continues to rule... they need a lil more though...

14. Man, you could sooooo see Wes's father turning on him as soon as he asked about the books and locking them up... and in other news, Joss reads a lot of Freud.

What's the deal with "Rebane"? I didn't get that reference?

I love comic Spike.

"Have we met before?"

"My men and I jumped you as you were slaughtering an orphanage in '69. You killed two of them and escaped."

"Oh.... So how's it been?"

I actually would have made more sense if that WAS Wesley's dad on the roof. Imagine if the Watchers were short on manpower and had to create cyborgs to do their bidding.

That was golden also.

He was the guy in the episode "Hellbound" who tormented Spike and tried to send him to hell (though, I believe his actual name was Pavayne, not Rebane).

I agree.

That was a fun ep. Wesley bumbling around reminded me of Buffy season 3. I also marked out for the "sex with robots" line, as well as Angel and Spike trying to relate to Wesley's pseudo-patricide.

Plus it's always fun to see Wesley get all tortured about Fred. Maybe he'll turn heel and hang Knox from a meat hook in the middle of the lab or something. I could see Heel Wes doing that.

Knox was fine as the goofy tech guy - he started to become annoying when he became "more" than that. This better end with Knox turning heel....Quite frankly, anyone who hooks up with Fred tends to get annoying (Gunn was too) - Buffy did the secondary romances much better than Angel. Willow/Tara, Willow/Oz, Xander/Anya were much better done than Gunn/Fred and.. um.. well, Gunn/Fred as of right now... I guess Lilah/Wes sorta, kinda, counts...and that pretty much well dwarfed every love story both shows have produced...

"Leave the Glasses on".

Joss is very good with continuity. I kinda called Wes' dad turning on him, though. Not the robot part, though.

"Leave the glasses on" was pure gold. Gotta love the Lilah/Wes romance. Back when Wes was all BROODY~ and TWEENER~.

I must say I liked Fred/Gunn. Probably at the same level as I enjoyed Xander/Cordy or Xander/Anya. Not too bad at all.

Cordy/Connor was sort of a relationship...

"Leave the Glasses on" is also the same episode when Wes whips out the shotgun on the BEAST!!

"Apocalypse, Nowish" is one of my favorite episodes from Angel.

The same eps??

No fuckin shit!?!

Man, that was a really fucking good episode.

Mole knew something about Angel that RRR didn't?

if I were in the Whedonverse, I'd get some friends, or people who know magic, together, get myself vamped, tied down while I was out, and when I came back as a vamp, have the others curse me with a sould before I did anything really bad to make me all broody and mopey. Thus, I'd have vampire powers but no evilness. I never go out in the daylight much anyways.

It'd be perfect if Angel hadn't smashed the ring of amara...bastard...

Yeah, but you would need a VERY powerful friend who knows magic because it isn't a easy spell to perform.

Yes, Willow did the spell early on, but it looked like higher powers helped her out on it.

why are we taking Angel's soul out? The Ring of Amara was the one that made Vampires impervious to everything. From the Ep. with Spike in season 1. Unless I'm an idiot

I felt like saying it!!

Yeah, that is what the ring does.

Ahh cheap!! I'm watching the episode "Happy Anniversary" and one of the lab sets is the same lab set they're using now for Fred's lab at W&H.

I also noticed that those old Spanish Demons were using weapons similar to the one Buffy used in the episode "Anne" (the one they used for the opening credits for awhile.)

I don't blame them, they need to save money some how.

I took a few quizes at Buffyquiz.com, and some of those questions are SO hard. They ask stuff that just about no one would know. For example, what was the name of the teacher that said he would kill the students when Buffy could read minds? Huh? I remember the part, but of course I didn't catch the name.
