Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 One of my assignments for my Music Appreciation class is to do a presentation on anything in popular music. I asked my instructor about the subjects in the poll and she said I can pick one of them as long as I enjoy doing this assignment. I just need you to help me make a decision on this assignment. Your help will be appreciated.
razazteca Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 All of those have been over done. Give some love for GWAR and show up in costume!
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 All of those have been over done. Give some love for GWAR and show up in costume! I'm not a fan of GWAR, I've actually never heard of them. ::Ducks behind bunker just in case < said something stupid:: All of those things on my list (with the exception of the last option) are things I enjoy.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Equate the rise and fall of Guns N' Roses to Hitler and the Nazis. It's facisinating.

It's facisinating. hmm..........the only person I can imagine goose-stepping is Izzy. Trust me, if you really do some research, and make sure it isn't disrespectful to the people Hitler and Nazi Germany destroyed, it's a fascinating comparison. I did once for a report in the very same class you're in now. Got 100 out of 100
razazteca Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Do the project on the idea of do bands have a greater success if they perform in character and in costume or not.
The Metal Maniac Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 If it was me, I'd do The Wall, mainly because you could probably delve pretty deep into the story behind the album, and interpreting enough lyrics to give people a good idea of what exactly happens could probably eat up a chunk of time. And plus, the movie rules.

Red Baron Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 don't use bands everyone knows, and hears every day, and basically knows about it (Zeppelin, Beatles, Nirvana, Elvis, The Doors, Hendrix, Pink Floyd), do bands that not many people really talk about (Alice In Chains, The Who, The Kinks, Neil Young). Actually I've known somebody used a comparison chart from back of the 60's 70's bands to current artists, and got 48/50. Or just bring in some Nile or Iron Maiden, and its all good
Red Baron Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 don't forget to add "You've unleashed the fuckin fury"
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Elvis. There's ungodly amounts of material written about him, and with any common sense, a presentation could be thrown together about the guy in a matter of minutes. Get some shit with his visage and hips plastered on it, and give the folks a bad impersonation, and you're golden. B+, at least.
razazteca Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Do it on Dread Zeppelin, its a cover band of Zeppelin with an Elvis impersonalitor!
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Do it on the black metal scene in Sweden in the early 1990's.

WrestlingDeacon Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Elvis would be easiest by far. Johnny Cash could be very timely, even Warren Zevon. Warren Zevon is someone who people might not know off hand. Out of those you have listed, an in depth presentation about the rise and fall of hair metal would be most interesting and not something I've seen covered in a scholarly way before.
Red Baron Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 How About... How To Be A Poser: The Music Of A Poser.
Murmuring Beast Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Do it on The Beach Boys Love You Album. There is great history behind that. Odd, odd stuff.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Only if he isn't going to do it. After all, I don't want to do it for him. I don't think I will do your G N' R presentation. The teacher is Jewish, and the last thing she needs is me screaming in German and goose-stepping. I have also decided not to do anything on Elvis. The poser music suggestion made me laugh a little. Red Baron gave a good suggestion, there is a group of students who always wear Pink Floyd shirts, it may cause a distraction to me during the presentation. Thank You! Edit: Poll was moved to another thread due to suggestions, if no one votes I will do a presentation on Hair Metal. Mods, close this thread, please!
Guest El Satanico Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Do it on Dread Zeppelin, its a cover band of Zeppelin with an Elvis impersonalitor! Actually it's a reggae cover band of Zeppelin with an Elvis impersonator.
razazteca Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 All I remember when I saw a video on 120 Minutes or some other late night MTV show was a fat Elvis impersonator.

Edit: Poll was moved to another thread due to suggestions, if no one votes I will do a presentation on Hair Metal. Mods, close this thread, please! thats why you do it on Animals. It'll go like this. "How many of you like Pink Floyd?" A majority number of hands rise up. "Whats your favourite album? A reply of Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, The Wall and Echoes. "Well it has nothing to do with them." Kids looked puzzled. "I'll talk about Animals, the dark side of Pink Floyd." Kids still looked puzzled. "Its an album released by Pink Floyd in 1977." "Thats outlandish, Pink Floyd only released 4 albums, and you just list them all, and I am a bigger Pink Floyd fan than you are." says a kid. You look at the kid. Laugh histarically at his statement, and call him a poser. "This is what we call a poser."
