EVIL EVIL GREANPEACE

Recommended Posts

This has been something that's been pissing me off for quite a long time and so I though "what better place to let it out than NO HOLDS BARED"

One of my friends is co-ordinator for greenpeace here in Tasmania (a state of Australia) and we went into the markets the other day to protest the building of an incinerator (sp?) near our home town. Now, the plan was to build this giant burning facility to burn wastes (plastics and rubbish and shit) to gain electricity. As you can imagine this has some major environmental issues.

I get to the site and am acousted by greenpeace members who want me to sign various things and paint stuff and ect in protest to incineration.

This is where they all turn into big dirty fucking hypocites.

Literally while they are telling me:

"Incineration is extremely bad for the environment, it pumps toxic fumes into the air which are potentially cancerous as well as dangerous to surounding wildlife." about 90% of them beging to light ciggarettes.

now, when protesting against BREATHING IN CANCEROUS SUBSTANCES it would seem logical that you DON'T TAKE PLEASURE IN BREATHING IN CANCEROUS SUBSTANCES.

Nothing fucks me off more than hypocracy so i did a bit of research.

ciggarette buts make up over 70% of all litter.

they are owned by multinational corperations who force developing countries to grow their tobacco instead of crops.

These companies dry the tobacco with wood fire, causing thousands of kilometers of rainforests to be cut down each year.

Ciggarettes are responsible for a hell of a lot of bushfires down here in Australia, I'm not sure whether it's the same in USA.

I questioned my friend on this as well as some other greenpeace members on why they refuse to eat Macdonalds or KFC for what they do to the amazon, but are quite willing to support these companies.

The majority of the replies consisted of "well at least I don't do both!"

Now I get massively fucked off at hypocracy, especialy when it's blatant and fucks with peoples core values.

I have no issues with people who eat meat or eat maccas or KFC (though I don't eat at places like this myself), I have issues with smoking, but it's not a moral thing only because I'm doing medicine and we're learning about lots of fucked up stuff about it. It just frustrates me beyond all comprehension that people who claim to be dedicated and get all high and mighty about it are FUCKING HYPOCRITES.

Damn, i've got myself fired up now.

If you think I'm being an overly critical knob feel free to call me on it. Or if you're feeling my sentiments back me up here cos I feel like i must be the only sane one left here.

I live in Hobart in Tasmania.

We have a hydro power station

:P

Anyway, I don't think I implied that I was an avid environmentalist and I don't claim to be therefore me=lack of hypocracy

While I can appreciate you were unsure about how to spell "incinerator" (which you spelled correctly), you might want to do a spell check on "hypocrisy". Many people mistakenly spell it like they would "democracy" or "plutocracy".

You are not alone. ;)

BTW, nice story. Extremism renders many practitioners foolish. Good on ya, cobber!

um no, we walked from my friends place.

it was held in the centre of town.

And I am an abysmal(sp?) speller and I make no attempt to hide it. It's just something I don't do well.

And cars like that spew carbon monoxide, and yes, while it is bad, it's effects can be relatively cured by a couple of hours on 4atms in a oxygen chamber. Smoke on the other hand has 40 cancerous chemicals (including insecticides) as well as CO, and a whole bunch of shit. Once again, it's not the act I was pissed off with (slightly annoying when it was blown in my face yes) but the hipocricy (:)) of it all.
