Guest Palumbo the Janitor Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Yes, I saw The Rundown. There's an Arnold Schwarzenegger cameo, hilarious jokes care of Sean William Scott, awesome action with The Rock, and bizarre comments from Christopher Walken. This movie has it all! Unfortunately, after a great weekend of movie-going festivities, I returned to work today to find out I'm fired!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I caught the Tooth Fairy Speech of Walken...That alone will get my 8 bucks.
The Fett 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 It’s still very early, but the reviews at RottenTomatoes are all positive. Looks like Rock might have a hit. It looks much much better than Scorpion King.
Mole 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I was thinking, if this movie doesn't do well in the box office or by critics; then Rock's movie career could be hurting.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 I was thinking, if this movie doesn't do well in the box office or by critics; then Rock's movie career could be hurting. That's pretty much the thinking - The Rundown will help determine whether The Rock's popularity truly transcends pro wrestling or not. I won tix for an advance screening tomorrow, so I suppose that it's already worth the cost of admission...
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 One thing I don't get from watching the previews is that cut with Rock saying "I'm not going to fight you." Your big bad bounty hunter acting like a wuss doesn't entice me to go see it. However, with that said, this will be a definite DVD-er because the cast looks great. What did you get fired for -- skipping out of work and watching this movie?...

Bored 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 I was thinking, if this movie doesn't do well in the box office or by critics; then Rock's movie career could be hurting. Ebert & Roeper both loved it. They were impressed with The Rock and think he proved he is a movie star.

Not wanting to do the job would make sense for him not wanting to fight. He just wants to get the job done as quickly as possible without unnecessary problems. He also does not use guns because they bring him to a place he doesn't want to be. However, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. There is a hilarious part where Sean William Scott has to urinate, but he is handcuffed so The Rock has to help him. Also watch out for the scene(s) involving a special fruit. Christopher Walken's Tooth Fairy speech is hilarious as well. The action scenes are unbelievable, especially The Rock's fight with the rebels. Having seen The Rundown already, I found it amusing that the world premiere was held last night. First of all, if a world premiere is in Washington, DC, you know something's wrong. What celebrities were on the red carpet? I think I saw a crack whore, but that was it. What did you get fired for -- skipping out of work and watching this movie?... I don't know! I was a model employee at Fairfield University. I'm currently looking for a job, though. Any ideas?
DerangedHermit 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 The premiere wasn't in DC, it was in Hollywood. RAW was in DC.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 It’s still very early, but the reviews at RottenTomatoes are all positive. Looks like Rock might have a hit. It looks much much better than Scorpion King. It is better, with the exception of Rosario Dawson as the Eye Candy - she just isn't as Hu-licious. Anyways, the Rock was pretty good, Seann William Scott was great as the annoying guy, and Christopher Walken was... well, Christopher Walken. However he should NOT wear wifebeaters again. Ever. Action scenes were a mixed bag. They get high marks for variety (bar fight, Copieria(sp?) fighting, whips, etc), but low marks for way over-the-top wire stunts and giving Beck superhuman stamina and durability. I mean, you expect that with the action hero, but sometimes too much is too much, you know? Still, they were highly enjoyable. The story was, of course, secondary to the action scenes. Intro, Quest, Twist, Climatic Battle, Anticlimax. You really don't need to know more than that. Anyways, an easy thumbs up from me.
