A Happy Medium

I was bored and did some research on J'lo

Recommended Posts

Gigli (2003)--> Prod./Adv. budget - 74 million -- gross - 6 million

Maid in Manhattan (2002)--> budget - 88 million -- gross- 93 million

Enough (2002)--> budget - 68 million -- gross - 40 million

Angel Eyes (2001)--> budget - 53 million w/out adver. -- gross - 24 million

Wedding Planner, The (2001)--> budget - 55 million -- gross - 60 million

Cell, The (2000)--> budget - 57 million w/out adver. -- gross - 61 million

Out of Sight (1998)--> no budget information

J'lo has a +/- of -111 million dollars in the past five years in movies in which she has starred, which I'm guessing is supposed to be her prime in the public eye, because we can already see her winding down. Now, is this as accurate as you can get on this subject? Of course not. However, I believe it is quite apparent that for how much you see of Jennifer Lopez on TV and magazine covers, she doesn't back it up at the box office. Also, odds are the numbers are even worse if you can find a way to add in the advertising budgets.

Triple threat my left nut. B-)

That is one thing that boggles my mind about JLo.

She is a horrible actress, a decent singer, and not a box office draw at all. Her movies aren't loved by critics, but she is all over the place.

Because teenie girls idolize her for whatever reason, and guys like her fat ass.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

I liked her in Cell and Out of Sight. Of course she wasn't really the lead in either.

am I the only person in the universe who liked The Cell?

I didn't hate the Cell...but they could have done SOO much more.

That was my problem with it.

I left the theatre thinking that there was still many more things that they could have done with that movie.

So if she didn't have that ass, she would be just another Hollywood loser.

Despite what others may think, I like J-Lo. I happen to think she is a talented Actress.

What i've never gotten anybody to explain is, what exactly makes her a "Ho" ? People refer to her in that way but never actually give a reason to why they think she is.

People just seem to be going along with it...

The movie "Selena" had a budget of around $20 million and did about $35 million at the box office.

Yeah, I know that Selena did well. I was counting her movies in the last five years, and Selena was a bit before that.

Probably because of her infamous marriages and many boyfriend connections.

Plus she's famous, and people tend to overexaggerate.

Maid in Manhattan (2002)--> budget - 88 million

errr...wha? How could that cost that much?!

The media thinks way more of her then the ticket buying public. I don't think she's a good actress.

Are those domestic numbers? And are we ignoring DVD sales(which is fast becoming a bigger take than the movie numbers).
