Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Anyone wish McCarver pulled a Brenly and just LEFT? Cincy will likely hire him for a box of Cracker Jacks and a Wet Bar.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Forgive me since I got the mute on and stuff...whose the other Bos/Ny commentator with McCarver and Boone? Joe Buck.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Riight... out of the Fox Gangbuster group...Al Leiter is the best commentator? DAMN.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 QUOTE (CanadianChris @ Oct 8 2003, 9:59 PM) Well, of course...but in 10 years, I think people will be compaing them to Drysdale and Koufax. If you think they should be compared to a good RH and a very overrated lefty, more power to you. Right. Moving on...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Personally...Manny should have just stood there and done a Tap Dance just to say fuck you to Fox...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 9, 2003 So McCarver compared the fan to Spike Lee in Basketball and Jack as well? Since when do they interfere in the game? other then verbal assualts...
Guest Bobby Cox is God Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Are you telling me Koufax isn't overrated? His ERA away from Dodger staduim was nearly 1.3 runs higher.....Dodger Staduim made him the pitcher he was. Was he good? Yes. Was he has good as he's made out to be? No.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Al seems like a good guy and would prolly be a good announcer if he could just get a better flow to how he talks. How often has he commentated, because if he could get that together, he'd be pretty good.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 9, 2003 He is still overpaid as a Mets Pitcher right? He should leave and just become a full time announcer...Boone is trying to hard.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Koufax was just about every bit as good as advertised. His only flaw was that his prime years lasted just 4 seasons.
Guest Bobby Cox is God Report post Posted October 9, 2003 I wouldn't call him overpaid. He's one of the better lefties in the NL, all though the NL is weak in the lefty department.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 10-0...this game is over.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 And my god, after a pathetic second-half, Alex Gonzalez's bat has just come to life in the last week.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 I knew Alex Gonzalez would lead his team to victory.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 The cubs better save some of the offense..
Guest Bobby Cox is God Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Not to mention his 6 seasons of mediocrity...... Koufax wasn't the greatest lefty ever, but he's billed as so all the time. Lefty Grove was much better than Koufax.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Well, he made the majors when he was 19, so the first 4 seasons occured when most pitchers are still in the minors. I'd also point out his 0.95 World Series ERA, in 8 starts. Lefty Grove is better, I'll give you that.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 To add, it really depends on whether you judge value by career value or prime value.
Mik 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 I know this is way late, but whoever said the Cubs fans would trek to Florida, sorry, the Marlins actually sell out playoff games. 65,000 seats sold for all 3 games in under 5 hours. Nothing but teal and black in the seats for those games. Don't get your hopes up.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Are you telling me Koufax isn't overrated? His ERA away from Dodger staduim was nearly 1.3 runs higher.....Dodger Staduim made him the pitcher he was. Was he good? Yes. Was he has good as he's made out to be? No. His park-adjusted ERA was still 30% better than the league average for his entire career. Even accounting for his home park, he had an ERA of 2.04 or less for his final four seasons. That's an absurd statistic. He's one of the five best lefties of all time, along with Grove, Carlton, Spahn and probably Johnson.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Cubs better save some of this offense. Their bats are subject to going ice cold at any time later in this series. Let Prior get to 90 pitches and then pull him. No need to burn his arm tonight. If the pen can't hold an 11 run lead, then they don't deserve to win.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 So..the guy left. He probably just became the most loved guy in Boston for one night even if he didn't touch the ball. He might be the new Jeffrey Meier.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Even with the unusual offense for the Cubs, funny to see them still not taking advantage of a bases loaded situation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not begging for more runs, but 11-0 or not, it's not a good thing to leave runners in scoring position.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 OH MY GOD stop beating that home run call into the ground. It was three innings ago.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Hope the wagon doesn't break... That's pretty funny. Agreed. It's great that they've got people coming out to the park, but flashback to two months ago and you've got tumbleweeds going through the majority of the good seats.
