Guest NCJ Report post Posted September 30, 2003 (edited) I have to split my list into three: Comedy: 1. Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck Comedy Geniuses. Daffy is the most underrated Loney tune ever. How the hell did it become the bugs bunny and Tweety show. Sylvester was way funnier than Tweety. If you get the chance watch any old school Daffy. 2. Simpsons Pure Genius. Yes they are starting to run out of ideas, but this is without a doubt the greatest sitcom ever. Constantly flip flopped between 1 and 2 with Bugs and Daffy. Homer and Al Bundy are the kings. Damn Fox used to rule. 3. South Park Trey and Matt are demented genuises. Who else would have thought to turn the movie into a musical satire??? These guys only get better. 4. King of the Hill Totally underratted on this board. Better than Family Guy. I love Family Guy, but the show is a Southern Sinefeld. Just insane comedy. 5. Darkwing Duck Action comedy at its best totally underatted. Action/Drama 1. Gargoyles. 2. Batman: The Animated Series This was even harder than the comedy. These two shows prove that anyoune who says America can't do dramatic cartoons are dead wrong. They are pure perfection. This is probably the hardest choice I have had to make out of any post like this. I love Batman:TAS, but as much as I love it is still not an original property. It has years of history and backstory to draw upon and the character arcs are already set. The creators of Gargoyles started from scratch and fully fleshed out ever character. The story arc is incredible. It is totally convulted, but at the same time it all comes together perfectly. The way every thing is slowly pieced together it slowly unfolds into a masterpiece. Things from the first episode and season have incredibly deep meaning later on in the show. And watching the reruns and seing the hints at later payoffs is just makes you appreciate it more. If you watch this series from the begining until its original conclussion (they restarted the series after its original run it was still excelent but not as good as before) you are just left awe struck at how they put it all into place. Just the revalation of who Xanatos's assistant really is is one of the biggest mark out moments I have ever had in my life. Batman is more of a serial. It goes through alot of episodes that aren't always connected. There is not an overall driving force with Batman like there is in Gargoyles. However, no other show has ever captured the heart of its source material better. These two shows have the best voice acting ever, and I will say they are comparable to the best Hollywood has ever put out. I am ending my rant, but if you love animation watch these two shows. They are pure perfection. 3. X-Men 90's version Great show another product of great voice acting. Not quite as good as the two above, but excellent non the less. 4. Batman Beyound Best reinvention of a franchise ever. If the dick's who were trying to rewrite Superman were half as good as these guys maybe they wouldn't have had so much trouble getting the movie filmed. 5. Thundercats honorable mention. GI Joe, Transformers Beastwars, The new He-Man, Samaurai Jack, and Spiderman(before the crap in the last season) Anime 1. DB/DBZ 2. Cowboy Beebop 3. Tenchi series/universe 4. Outlaw Star 5. Street Fighter V series I and II Edited September 30, 2003 by NCJ
