Guest RollingSambos Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 I doubt that anyone cares (I don't), but I'd just like to send out this warning to anybody who thinks that they are getting exact replicas of shirts from 1996-1997. I ordered the Austin 3:16 myself, and here you can see the differences between the original release and the retro release:
BifEverchad Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 What other 'retro' shirts are available?
Guest JRE Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 ...It just looks like the original is more worn....which it is...maybe some size differences with the logos too
TheFranchise Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Damn it... even the new 'old' shirts work the WWE style
Guest RollingSambos Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 DX, Undertaker circa '97, HBK circa '97, Rock's "LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN", and there are probably more on the way since these are hot sellers.
Guest RollingSambos Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Yeah, it is more worn, but there are other differences: The Austin 3:16 lettering is a different font, the letters are bigger, the skull on the back is smaller, the old WWF logo has been replaced with an XX ad, and the shading on the skull is also different.
Guest JRE Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 There's a Wrestlemania 1 Retro T too
Guest RollingSambos Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Yeah, but that's also bogus because the original didn't have the date on it. Cool shirt, though.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 The only things that stand out to me on the Austin shirt is the TM on the front with larger lettering and the WM XX logo instead of the old WWF logo on the back. Its not like its all that dramatically different.
BifEverchad Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Oh, also don't get tricked into ordering this WWF shirt either..
The Tino Standard Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 I want to see some of the wrestlers wearing these on TV. Austin's "F*CK FEAR" shirt has run its course.
Jobber of the Week Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 I think everyone who has seen the "logo" on the back neck of the shirts and knows of the WWF lawsuit will know that the shirts are not true copy cats inside and out. For whatever reason though, they've replaced the "WWE AUTHENTIC" thing on all shirts with a WM XX ad. God help them if/when that show fumbles.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 With all the whoring of WM XX (MONTHS before it's scheduled to happen), WWE is probably going to try (HA!) the best they can to do something spectacular. So Expect a shitty card top to bottom w/ RVD jobbing on Heat.

It's not like they made the front in pretty pink letters in Comic Sans font or something.
2GOLD Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 WWE has gotten very lazy with slogans and shirt production lately it seems. And I still can't believe they have quit selling V1 shirts before I could buy one. I actually liked that shirt. The new ones and the retros...I have the old ones I want and it might be nice not to be reminded of when RAW was good as I watch Randy boredom come out.
