kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 There's this referendum where I live that will enact this on a local scale if it gets enough votes, and I'm just curious about what everyone thinks. I don't know why, but I would vote "yes" for this. It just seems lame for someone to run for a position, lose and then settle back into what they were originally doing. If you believe in something enough you should have to sacrifice in order to accomplish that goal...
Highland Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 I don't. If you're looking for another job you don't quit your current job until you know you're getting the one you're looking for.
Jobber of the Week Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 Voted no. I don't really know why, but just no. 'Sides, if it weren't for all the help of the governors and senators running for Prez, candidates like Al Sharpton would have more support. Yikes.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 7, 2003 Report Posted October 7, 2003 I think the worst was Lieberman running for Senate while he was the VP candidate the same election.
Perfxion Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I think the worst was Lieberman As a person who lives in CT, no good comes from Joe Liberman, even though I live in the same town as him. As for the poll at hand: NO, simply because when you get a new job, you don't quit your old one. Why should high office jobs be any different?
Dr. Tom Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 As for the poll at hand: NO, simply because when you get a new job, you don't quit your old one. Why should high office jobs be any different? Because a high-office job is not like a regular job. You don't get hired; you get ELECTED because more people believed in you than your opposition. And to go seeking another office while holding your current one is a betrayal of the trust everyone who voted for you placed in you.
