The One and Only Survivor: Pearl Islands Thread

Recommended Posts

Anyone watching Survivor: Pearl Islands???? I think its actually pretty good. It's going to get interesting now thatBurton is gone and Rupert got swapped ot the other team for a little while...

Also gotta love the blond haired (forgot his name) who's into wrestling. He did the Ric Flair WOOOOOOO at camp then he did the strut while going to vote at tribal counsel. Then too top it all off while he was saying who he was voting for, he did the 4 Hoursemen sign. Gotta love it

Same here. "Reality" TV sucks

I hate that term. Stupid critics call it that, when it's a game show. A game show that's been taken to an extreme, but a game show nonetheless.

Thoughts on some of the players:

- Rupert fucking rules it. He looks like Ogre but is a nice guy and is the true heart of the Drake Tribe

- Jon is still a jerk but that's his personality so I can't fault him for it. Still, he should turn into a Rob C so we'll see if he grows on me more.

- Can you tell that Christa is a computer programmer?

- Morgan is a collective bunch of idiots

The Game

- Now that Drake knows about the POW twist, Morgan is screwed in terms of winning challenges

- I love the pirate theme, and the "stealing an item" part of the reward challenge

- Tribal Council would've been much cooler if the person voted off had to walk a plank

Final tally was 5-2 to vote off Burton. I dunno what the story with Shawn turning on him was, though.

I seriously don't understand the Survivor hate. I still think the show is entertaining.

I'm glad that Morgan won today because it was getting boring watching Drake dominate the entire time.

Jon is an idiot and he's making wrestling fans out there look even worse.

After seeing the preview for next week, I have to ask: Why the hell isn't Rupert totally sabotaging the Morgan camp? He could just be a total dick, i.e. throwing stuff into the water, eating all their food, etc. I know he's not above that as we saw in the premiere when he raided Morgan's raft.

Couple of thoughts on this:

- It's a game, and Rupert realizes it. In a "real-life situation" the pirates would have either killed Rupert or made him a slave. And just as a pirate might steal, a slave would be forced to help out.

- Rupert is over at the camp for a couple of days, so it's in his best interest to stay strong by catching fish etc. If that means helping Morgan out (actually it'd definitely mean helping them out), then so be it.

- Help out, be friendly, get the tribe to relax, and then learn their secrets and alliances etc. There will be a minimum 3 Morgans at the merge (which would tie the record set by Maaramu in Survivor Marquesas) so you might as well get in good now and backstab them later.

Here's why I can't stand it (them). They take regular shmucks after some sort of screening process, and stick 'em in front of a camera. Why should I care about them, in the context of a television show? This is just some guy from Toledo, not a funny comedian, or a good actor or anything. He's floating around in a raft, or eating something gross, etc etc..

It's like network execs or whoever just gave up and thought..hmmm...We need something for the fall lineup, let's have people VOTE each other away from a silly event like this. That's the common denominator, the elimination of one's competitors, and they go about it in such a sissy manner that I cannot bear to watch a moment of reality television.

The people are pointless to me, and they're doing dumb things. The only worthwhile part to me is the scenery.

Yeah, those are good points. I guess that's why he's on the show and not me.

I just think people being total dicks is amusing.

Fuck this show.

If you aren't going to contribute to the thread in a rational manner, could you just not waste space with you meaningless three word sentence that does nothing more than make you look like a complete ass?

Don't like Survivor? State why in a paragraph or two. Otherwise, I'll just consider you on the bandwagon of hate for Survivor and pass you off as just another stupid poster that just tried for a +1 to his account. Oh wait, you did do that. Just no +1 was actually put up to make it blatantly obvious.

Now then, back to the topic at hand. I actually haven't watched the last two seasons of Survivor, because it wasn't really that good for me. Sure, nice little twist, but it wasn't entertaining. But for some reason, I'm liking this season. I'm thinking because it's Rupert (whom I keep thinking of as Rupert Bear) and probably because the whole pirate feel to it.

And was ANYONE pissed when that Drake took the lantern over the cooking pot? IF YOU WANT TO KILL THEM OFF, GET THE POT~!

As for Rupert being with Morgan, I knew something was up as soon as I it was said "we're throwing the challenge". Why the fuck would you state that? You've got the "system" right THERE! You don't think they aren't going to go: "Excuse me, but we'll let you throw the challenge." PHAW~!

Anyways, I'm enjoying Rupert and I say that Jonny Fairplay is an utter and complete ass. Vince'll sign him (Jonny) as soon as Survivor is over though.

Jon seems to aspire to being this year's Rob C. Not a bad thing, because you need a "villain" to make a compelling story.

Speaking of which, having Rob C and the Robfather on the same tribe in the "All-Star" edition would rule.

I agree with you about throwing challenges. They did it in Thailand and noone from that tribe made it to the final five. But it was great to see Burton come up with this scheme to get someone he simply dislikes off of the tribe and see it blow up in his face.

Bump.

Watching yesterday, I'd have to say that Michelle really deserved to go. She took the Drake gameplan and threw it right out the window.

Anyways, now that it's a 6-5 advantage for Drake, I'm sure that Burnett tried his hardest to get Morgan to win the final pre-merge immunity...

Man.......that episode was one of the most dramatic shows in a long, long time. Couple that with last night's ER and I was a damn happy camper when I went to bed.

Some Notes

- I'm conflicted about my Burton love. He's a damn hard worker and I feel he got screwed over originally, so I'm rootin' for him. But he got voted out for a reason and I don't like the fact that he could win when guys like Rupert and Savage won't be getting another shot.

- I can't remember hating anybody on that show as much as I hate Lil. Maybe Jon.

- Speaking of Jon, it's becoming very clear to me that he has a very good chance of making it to the final 2. People won't admit it because of how big of an asshole he is (which he is), but the guy has done a damn good job of fuckin around with people so far.

I'm very very very intrigued to see what next weeks episode is about. Jon recives some "devastating" news from home but they then show him hugging everybody and saying "I love you guys". After that you got a voice over saying "A member of the tribe does the unthinkable" and Burton saying "We can't sabotage this tribue". Cut to shots of Christa crying and Jon and Sandra mouthing off to each other. Very interesting stuff.

Curry's Prediction: The episode starts off with this "sabotage" stuff and in the end leaves everybody seemingly at odds with Sandra and Christa. Then, like that, the "devastating" news comes to Jon, who ends up leaving the tribe to go home. That's why they showed the "I love you guys" stuff.

Oh, and Ruperts speech last night was one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever fucking seen. The reunion show is going to be very good.

I know I earlier said I hated this show, but I became a semi-casual because of the awesomeness of Rupert. I can't believe they voted him off when they leave those idiot girls on there. Not being sexist, but they don't do ANYTHING. None of them do. It's just sad.

Rupert is God. Of Survivor. I hate this show now :(

UPDATE

Just went on the CBS official site and here's what they're throwin' down in terms of a preview for next week.

One of the most heated Survivor arguments ever ends with one castaway declaring the other a sworn enemy.

Christa is accused of sabotaging the food supply. But is it a false accusation?

Despite the tension of competition, a touching gesture of compassion marks the Reward Challenge.

No one is safe as conspiracies and overheard conversations fuel the insecurities of every castaway prior to Tribal Council. Who will be next to go?

There's a video link attatched to it which is different from the one they showed at the end of Thursdays episode. In this one they talk about one survivor commiting the single worst act of deception in the show's history. They also mentions that for the first time ever somebody wins immunity only to have it stripped.

Yeah, I was rooting pretty hard for Rupert to take it, so last night's episode was a little disappointing. Besides Sandra, and possibly Christa, there's nobody really there left to root for in my opinion. As for next week....

The Heated Survivor Argument.....Sandra and Jon? They haven't liked each other from the beginning, and after her comments at Tribal Council and the fallout from Rupert being voted out....it makes sense.

Sabotaging the food supply.....maybe Christa. I would actually like it if it turned out to be her. They kick off Rupert, then are going to eat all the fish he captured for them? Fuck that. I hope Christa did do something to the food. But by the way she was crying on the preview, doubt it. Probably just an accident.

Touching gesture....somebody gives a prize away to somebody else. Maybe something with family. Whoop-de-doo.

Who will be next to go? My pick is Christa.

As for the single worst act of deception.....that interests me. If I would have to guess anybody of doing it, I would obviously pick John. But what could he have done? No idea....

And for the people who don't watch this show, how could you not? Have you ever seen the loveliness that is Lillian?

s7_ep7a_189.jpg

I know....disgusting. The worst part is: She's looking like she has a good chance to win.

Burton's the only guy left I like.

I wouldn't mind Burton if it wasn't for the fact that he should not be there at all anymore. He got voted out - he should not be back. Period. In my opinion, the whole Outcast business, and bringing back those who were once voted out, killed the season for me. And, if one of the Outcasts happen to win the game, they have made the entire season meaningless, and could hurt future Survivor games.

You shouldn't be allowed to come back once you're voted out. Period. That is rule #1 of the game, and they looked past it for some cheap stunt. Was the world really begging for a Lil return? And shit, once we actually start getting rid of the interesting people like Andrew and Rupert, they aren't given a chance to get back in the game. Fucking ridiculous.

Again, if Burton had earned his way to where he was now, I wouldn't mind it. But I couldn't possibly root for him or Lil, because they don't deserve to be there. And oh yeah, Lil is a stupid, leeching, depressed bitch too. Another reason I couldn't root for her.

That's one thing I hated-Rupert (who FUCKING ROCKS ALL) gets voted off after FUCKING ROCKING the game and has to leave, but Burton and Lil (I think) get to come back after being voted out.

I totally agree about Rupert and Burton/Lil. Rupert was so far ahead of everyone else.

The only person left that I care about is Christa. You can't go wrong with a hot computer programmer.
