starvenger 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2003 But they ain't computer programmers! Darrah's not too bad lookin', but I can't understand a damn word she said. I loved Rupert, but strategy-wise, it was the BEST thing the remaining 7 players could do. There's no doubt in my mind that Rupert could run the board and win all the immunity challenges, so getting him outta there was critical. Don't worry, though, Rupert will be back on Super Bowl Sunday as one of the 18 not-so-new Survivors in the "All-Star game". I've got mixed feelings about the ressurection. On one hand, it's not fair that eliminated players came back, with one (Burton) standing a VERY good chance of running the board and winning it all. On the other, it's made for a good merged tribe dynamic. A Pagonging was avoided, and Burton's drive to win is pretty damn impressive. Fair or not, though, what's done is done (although I doubt we'll see this again), and if you're still in the game you gotta roll with the twists. Oh yeah, and Osten is a whiny bitch who is now one of my least favourite Survivors, ever.
DARRYLXWF 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 This whole 'worst act of deception' promotion for next episode is really interesting, and I'm guessing it involves Jon somehow. I heard one guy predict that Jon gets a letter or phone call by one of his family/friends (as do all the other contestents), only he lies saying that a family member died...and then its discovered that he's full of shit. That would be entertaining, but I can't see it happening. I mean, why does Jon need to provoke the sympathy factor when he's in a strong alliance? As for Rupert, he was easily my favourite survivor, and I wouldn't be surprised if he played SOME role in upcoming episodes. Not as a returning constestant, but maybe as a part of a challenge. Just imagine how awesome it would be if Rupert was some masked man in black that the survivors had to wrestle with, and then he reveals himself near the end. Ah well, a man can dream. Lando Griffin 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I heard on the Bob & Tom show today that CBS received 30,000 calls complaining about Rupert being voted off. That's funny, yet very stupid.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 Here's how I think the episode will break down: - Starts off with the incident involving the food supply and Krista gets accused, somehow leading to Sandra and Krista getting alienated by the rest of the tribe - We find out later that it was Jon who did it and he then framed Krista for it - The tribe is against Jon because of this, until Jeff gives them the "devastating" news for Jon, at which point Johnny Fairplay must pack up and go home. Buh bye, asshole. I can't understand how people are actually surprised that Rupert was voted off. Shocked maybe that he got screwed over by Lil and Burton (he didn't trust Jon) but I can't see the whole surprise issue. I'm only surprised it took this long for somebody to wise up and realize that he needed to be gone.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2003 I can't understand how people are actually surprised that Rupert was voted off. Shocked maybe that he got screwed over by Lil and Burton (he didn't trust Jon) but I can't see the whole surprise issue. I'm only surprised it took this long for somebody to wise up and realize that he needed to be gone. Here's the kicker - he STILL woulda gotten the boot if Lil hadn't stayed loyal to her fellow Outcast. Rupert, Christa and Sandra were more or less not counting on Burton and Jon to "follow the script", as it were. So what does Sandra do? A) Stick to the plan and vote for Darrah? B) Turn on Rupert and vote him out? C) Vote for Jon, not because he's going, but because he pissed you off? Factoring that in, and knowing that Burton and Jon might turn on Rupert, Sandra of course went for option C). Meaning that it COULD have been 4 votes Rupert, 3 votes Darrah, 1 vote Jon, and Rupert STILL would have been gone, and Sandra would have "screwed him over" not once, but twice. Obviously, since Lil "turned", this scenario didn't play out, but it still stands out as bad strategy on Sandra's part and is a perfect example of why you shouldn't let emotions control you in this game. Anyways, for the remaining tribe it's imperative that they get Burton off the island ASAP, since he's the only real threat to win every single immunity from here on out. And if it ain't him, I look for Christa to go, since she is about the only other immunity threat (well, just LOOK at everyone else) when it comes to physical challenges. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2003 Wow. That was quite the fucking episode. Jon's plot had to have been the single most evil and genius thing in Survivor history. I simultaneously gained and lost a ton of respect for the guy. That is why I watch Survivor.

OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! Jon is fucking insane! I was tearing up when he found out his grandma died and he fucking swerved everyone by having planned out this fake death with his friend before he even came on the show. For those who missed it, each person had a visitor come to compete for a chance to spend the night with their castaway. Jon's friend came and told him he was there because Jon's grandma had died. Everyone pretty much threw the competition so his friend would be the one to get to stay and tell him more about his grandma's passing. As soon as the two were alone, the laughed about how they fooled everyone and had planned it all along. Fucking nuts. edit: Also, after Rupert got voted out, Sandra sabotoged the food supply by throwing away the fish Rupert had caught before she left. And the blonde girl was blamed because she had stepped away for 30 seconds. Tequila got voted off.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Unrelated note: If the network chooses not to reveal Jon's scheme about his granny to the other Survivors, does that mean that everybody had to find out by watching it on TV with their friends and family? 'Cause that would fucking SUCK.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I want to be a fly on the wall when Jon's grandmother sees that episode. I hope she slaps the taste out of his mouth. I don't even watch Survivor, but a co-worker insisted we watch it Wednesday night, so I saw the whole "dead granny" plot; now I'm going to watch the rest of this season just to see that bastard get voted off. If his grandma really dies while he's gone, he's gonna feel like a total asshole.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2003 I just saw it on tape today (as I haven't watched any TV since Tuesday) and... damn. Jon may be going to hell with a million in his pocket. And the funny thing is, I now hate Sandra MORE. You could SEE Jon trying to pull something like this off (succeeding was very surprising though), but what Sandra did was just petty, and Christa gets blamed for it, to boot. And in the end, the tribe made the wrong decision in not giving Burton the boot. Again, he's a real threat to run the table all the way to the final two. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Ok, I'm resurrecting this bitch so hopefully we can get some good discussion going for tonight's show. Official Preview from CBS.com The great lie continues to affect the decisions of castaways who believed Jon when he swore on his grandmother's grave. A luxurious strategy session enjoyed spa-style, with food, massages, showers and privacy, is spoiled by one castaway. Faltering alliances and redrawn allegiances leave no one safe, pushing one castaway to ask another, "You're not gonna betray me, right?" There's nothing like a guy in silk pajamas proclaiming what a great date he is! Curry's Prediction: Lil realizes that she is not going to be the one to make it with Burton to the final 2 and defects to the female group of Darah, Sandra and Krista. Jon or Buton go home tonight. starvenger 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2003 Right now we have an alliance of 3 (Outkasts + Jon), an alliance of 2 (Drakes) and a loner (Darrah). The way I see it: - Burton and Jon need to dump a Drake here. I'd go with Sandra, because even if they hate Christa, Sandra's a schemer, and that counts for a lot in the Final 2. - Everyone else needs to dump Burton, STAT. They had their chance last TC and didn't do it. If not Burton then Jon. Yes he's a tempting opponent for the Final 2, but you can't trust him to help bring you there. What will probably happen: - Darrah throws her lot in with the Outcasts, and they toss out Christa. Next week, Jon turns on Burton and tosses him out, leaving us with a final four of Darrah, Jon, Lill and Sandra.

Madmartigan21 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 (edited) It sounded like he was telling someone about his big lie. I believe he was trying to work out some deal with Sandra, out of what looked like depseration, and pulled the "I swear on my grandmother" card again. Perhaps he is going to think that the threat of Sandra being able to align the women is very real. Going back a few weeks, Tijuana made one of the DUMBEST moves in the history of Survivor. By trying to punk out Jon with the threat of voting out Burton BEFORE it happened, she gave him a chance to scramble and work the deal with Sandra and Christa. Had she waited until after Burton was voted out, Jon would have DEFINITELY joined her and Darrah at that point if she asked him. And they would have probably been able to grab Lil as well. Instead she tried to make her power play early for no good reason, when a little patience probably would have guaranteed her top 4. But it was also incredibly stupid of Sandra and Christa to decide not to vote Burton out because of Jon's plea. They should have taken out Burton while they had the chance. Darrah made the same mistake this week. They didn't even need a swing vote. If the vote was 3 for Burton and 3 for Christa, Burton would have been voted out based on the previous votes for a tiebreaker. And going back several weeks, does anybody know why in the hell Tijuana and Darrah voted for Rhyno the week he was kicked out? That made no sense to me, especially when they all seemed so tight at that point. I don't see what they gained. And while I'm thinking about it, why do so may of members of the two tribes dislike Christa? From what they've shown, she hasn't given much cause for all this apparent disdain. Hate to burst you bubble, but previous votes aren't used as a tiebreaker anymore. In Marquesas, they introduced the "purple rock of death", where basically you draw straws for ALL remaining players, and short straw leaves. As is now obvious, I didn't know that they changed the rules for tie votes. So you're saying that if two people are tied with votes, a third person that has ZERO votes at that tribal council can be kicked off. I know this show has never been about fair, but that still completely blows. But I still think Tijuana made a huge mistake. This isn't just in retrospect either. If all that stuff with Rhyno was true, I think it was a very poor job of not editing ANY of it into the show.
