The One and Only Survivor: Pearl Islands Thread

Recommended Posts

I wonder if this means he wins. Just because he was on Survivor and quotes wrestlers is one thing, but being the winner of Survivor and a huge wrestling fan is another. For some reason he reminds me of Steve Corino with curls.

As is now obvious, I didn't know that they changed the rules for tie votes. So you're saying that if two people are tied with votes, a third person that has ZERO votes at that tribal council can be kicked off. I know this show has never been about fair, but that still completely blows.

The Purple Rock of Death only came into play in Survivor 4 (Marquesas) when Pappy was eliminated due to the stalemate. It hasn't happened since, and in fact I think that the players work to avoid ties now because of it.

I don't think he'll win, but he has a good case for it, as he has "played the game" to it's fullest, using a form of Rob C's strategy. OTOH, everyone seems to hate him, and may vote against him out of spite. My prediction is that he's first to go on Sunday night.

And if he wants to go to the WWE, that's CBS' call, as they can control what the Survivor players do (in terms of media appearances et al) for about a year.

UPDATE, DECEMBER 11th

- One castaway sabotages the tribes survival efforts in order to seek revenge.

- Two overconfident castaways celebrate over a feast. But will the celebration last?

- Conversations lead to a game of He Said, She Said. But is anyone telling the truth?

- When the unexpected happens, everyone is sent scrambling.

If there was ever a night where the 3 women would mutiny against Jon and Burton, tonight is it. Sandra will no doubt be pissed about Christa getting voted off last week so I'm thinkin' it could be her who sabotages the survival efforts for revenge. The women need to just realize that even if one of the guys win immunity they can still vote the other one off easily (especially Jon because of all his previous votes).

Curry's Prediction: Burton or Jon. If they don't go tonight then they've guaranteed themselves the final 2.

I don't really think Jon is that good of a Survivor player myself. I just think the people he's against are really subpar players. None of them seem to have any abilities to control the game outside of just will. Usually, there are one or two people in each Survivor that try and control the game but Jon is the only one who has done so outside of Rupert and he controled the flow of the game in a very different way.

Jon is easily the first person I can say I don't want to win, but then I REAALLY don't want Lil to win. Atleast Jon has a set personality and is being a total ass to win. Lil is just wishy-washy and a oversensitive waste of space.

Completely agree. I think that it'll be Burton though.

If the girls have their choice, it will be Jon, simply because Sandra hates him that much. BUT, Darrah seems quite content being Jon's puppet so I could easily see Darrah telling Jon and Burton that Sandra wants to rally the women together to vote off the two men. Sandra could just as easily go home tonight if she fucks up.

On a unrelated but somewhat disturbing note, the odds are now 3-2 that we're going to see an Outcast in the final 2. I don't know about some people, but that doesn't sit well with me, especially since people like Rupert, Savage and Tijuana aren't going to get a second chance.

No, it never was fair, but in retrospect Rupert was the architect of his own demise. He and his alliance took the support of the two Outcasts and figured that they could eliminate them at any time in the game. Unfortunately, people have a funny way of not being content with 6th or 7th, and Rupert was gone.

Savage got screwed, to be sure, but I doubt that he'd have lasted to the final four anyways, so I'm not particularly upset at the Outcasts for that.

Tijuana was also screwed over by her short-lived "U-Go-Girl" alliance, who sided with Jon and the Outcasts and voted her out, so she does have a legit partial beef here.

So, yeah, it's unfair that Burton and Lil are back, but I gotta say that it's kept me entertained through a period where things are generally pretty boring.

Looks like it could be Burton heading home at this point. Just as long as Lil votes sticks with the mutiny.

Question: Are the ones already voted off the show allowed to watch what happens to the others?

I'm assuming that they're kept updated on what happens (on account of they do have to do the final vote) but does that mean that they'll know that Jon lied about his grandma?

If so, he's so fucked. He can't possibly win.

Well, as far as the jury and the rest of the contestants know, Jon's grandma actually died. It was mentioned at Tribal Council, he talked about it as if it was true, and never admitted that it was a lie. So, that's really all that they know. The jury members only learn what they hear at the tribal councils, and don't receive any extra info. At this point, none of them know that it's a lie, so it won't prevent Jon from winning the game.

But at the reunion show......yeah, he's pretty fucked. ;)

It would be funny for Burton to say "yeah, he's still my buddy" and then give him a steel chair to my head...

Goodnight Burton.

Early prediction for Sunday: Jon knows he's up the creek without a paddle and appeals to Lil, saying that they still have an alliance to uphold and he convinces her that Darrah and Sandra won't keep her around the second he's gone.

This would make things fairly interesting because it's a split vote and will all hinge on who wins immunity.

The problem is, Jon needs to win BOTH immunity's to stay alive. If he wins in the first episode, Sandra and Darrah vote out Lil. If he wins in the second episode, Jon will vote out Sandra and take Darrah to the final 2 w/ him.

However, if Lil, Sandra or Darrah win immunity the first episode, it's buh-bye Johnny Fairplay.

I just can't believe how awesome Darrah is winning 3 straight immunity challenges. Of course last night it was because she is rail thin and her hands easily fit into the tube to get the keys faster. Add on to that the fact that she is a mortician and cute and I think we have a winner.

The only person who has a chance of taking out Darrah in the final 2 is Lil. Jon is D.O.A already and Sandra has pissed off too many people. You could also make the argument that Darrah had to cope with little food and low tribe moral while Sandra and Jon had been living off the fruits of Ruperts labour for 3/4 of the game.

I know everyone on this board loves Rupert and were pissed when he got voted off but to me he is acting like a big pussy since being voted off.

When they voted him off he gave the speech that he really needed it and deserved it and each week when they show him in the jury he's shaking his head and rolling his eyes. And then last night he was high-fiving everyone when Burton got the boot.

I loved when Rupert was voted off. I started to hate him right around week 4, I think it was. When Drake decided to throw the challenge. Ever since then he acted ilke a six year old.

He was dead on right though, about not throwing the challenge. At that point, the other tribe was almost dead. A broken spirit in this game is the worst possible characteristic. And they had broken the other tribes spirit. If they had won that challenge, you could have booted that whole other tribe off the island right then and there, because they weren't recovering from that.

I would hate Rupert if he was wrong, but the fact is he was right and after that point he realized he was among idiots and people willing to tank games. So of course he is going to react

I was pissed but not shocked and I don't see how Rupert can act all shocked either. He was the strongest player in the whole game and the strongest (usually) never makes it to the final 3 or 4. It was only a matter of time before he got voted off anyways.

You know, if you’re going to go out, at least don’t go out like a bitch. And that’s exactly how Burton left. The guy was a strategic fool! And the first ever two time loser. Well earned.

Master Strategist Burton’s great plans:

Lets throw immunity so my tribe can boot me.

I’ll waffle with Lill and push her out of my alliance.

P.S. If Burton had stuck with Rup/Christa/Sandra way back at the beginning of the merge, he would have finished no worse than 4th. All that lying and backstabbing really paid off. He traded a spot in the final four for a 5th place finish.

Burton just goes to show you, there's a reason pre-jury boots are pre-jury boots.

I'll bet five bucks that Sandra wins. And I'll never understand how people could root for people like Sandra or Christa. They did nothing and if it wasn't for Rupert, they'd have been off long ago. Plus they're bland as hell. At least Jon makes for interesting TV and has lied his way into the top 4.

Well, my local paper just officially spoiled who the fucking winner was.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

There was an article in the Toronto Star today about the special Celebrity Survivor that is coming up and they mentioned that the people who would be invited from this season were Rupert and Sandra. Take that for what you will but it's a pretty safe bet that Sandra wins tonight.

This is crazy stuff.....Lil better not pull a Colby and take the nicer person in Sandra but if she does take John, they may vote him b/c he played the game better and she was voted off already......Jon though is the best player besides Rupert out there...he got Darrah basically out of the game witht the whole confrontation with Lil....

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Great Survivor season, bad fucking Survivor ending. I did not give two shits about either Sandra or Lil being in the final two. Oh, and Lil is a FUCKING MORON for not taking Jon with her to the final two. FUCKING MORON. Sandra takes second place right behind Vecepia as the most undeserving Survivor winner. Way to ride Ruperts coatails and allow Jon to make all the voting decisions for ya.

Jeff should've just said "Fuck it, we're changing the rules again" and given the money to Rupert. Or Jon. Or Savage. But nobody else.

Anybody who gripes about Jon making it into the finals needs to bow down and realize that yes, he is a fuckin asshole bitch but he is one smart fucking asshole bitch. Even when they got back from camp when they voted Burton off he still had gas left in the tank and succesfully managed to turn the women on each other and plant seeds of doubt.

You guys don't realize that flying under the radar and riding someone's coattails is a great strategy. You have to play to win. Some think you have to go out and be the muscle to win. Some think you have to be the one to catch all the food to win. Some think you have to be friends with everyone. Some think an alliance will get you there. More often than not, flying under the radar gets you very far in the game.

And consider this, Jon was an ass and got raked over the coals for it. Sandra was a bitch, sabotaged the food, was going to hide all their supplies and stuff, and yet it barely got a mention last night. No one called her out for doing it, they were all focused on Jon and his grandmother.

Sandra was on my local radio station doing an interview this morning. She said she doesn't have an interest in doing the All-Stars Survivor. She also said that she had heard that Jon's grandmother had raised him, and in her mind that made his grandmother the devil woman.

Out of the Final Four, Sandra was second behind Jon in the most deserving department. I don't know why people keep saying she was the one who pretty much flew under the radar. She came up with her own pretty clever plans. Taking Tijuana behind those bushes to hear Jon and Burton talking....coming up with the Sandra/Lil/Darrah alliance to get rid of Burton....Sandra wasn't too bad with the plans at all. Plus, she was entertaining and actually had a PERSONALITY. Not like Darrah or DumbBitch Lil. Cursing at people if she wanted to....throwing out fish so the others can't have it....hiding things if she thought she was getting voted out....she made for good television! Plus, Sandra was one of the only people on the island that showed a sense of humor when it came to her confessionals. I would have liked to see Jonny Fairplay win, but I have absolutely no problem with Sandra winning. I just don't see where this "under-the-radar/riding coattails" thing came from. She knew how to take care of herself and devise plots. Meanwhile, Lil flip-flopped and cried about everything, while Darrah sat there with a blank look on her face.

Mostly, I was just happy Lil lost - and with a 6-1 vote. I have never seen anyone on that show blow the final tribal council like she did. Talk about self-destructing....
