HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Today something awful happened on game 3. I can understand Pedro hitting my pana Karim, lets say it was an accident. Then Clemens threw a high ball, not even close to Manny (? Im not sure) and this guy tried to attack Clemens, without dropping the bat, and umpires ignored that. I dont agree with Zimmer going after Pedro, but... COME F***ING ON! Pedro Dropped Don Zimmer . What a MF. I could understand if Pedro just move away or *gasp* run. But... Zimmer is an old guy, and Pedro dropped him to the ground. Oh yeah, and the umpires? Nothing. Later, again, one Red Sox guy, one guy wearing a Red Sox shirt attacked one of the NY pitchers... in the bullpen. What the F*** !!! And again... Nothing, the cops leave him free. I guess there is No Law in Boston.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted October 12, 2003 I couldn't help but laugh that Zimmer ended up taking a pedigree like bump.
treble 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 At first I thought it was Wells that charged Pedro, since all I saw was the bald head. As for Pedro dropping him, I don't blame him. It's just human nature when someone's charging at you to defend yourself, and it's not like he punched him in the face or anything, he just moved out of the way and shoved him. Blame the whole thing on Manny being a pussy.
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Look at his pumpkin head. I think Pedro was just trying to get at the candy corn.

I could understand if Pedro just move away or *gasp* run. But... Zimmer is an old guy, and Pedro dropped him to the ground. So if you don't agree with Zimmer lunging at Pedro, why are you chastising Pedro for defending himself? Later, again, one Red Sox guy, one guy wearing a Red Sox shirt attacked one of the NY pitchers... in the bullpen. What the F*** !!! And again... Nothing, the cops leave him free. With tempers already high following a bench-clearing melee earlier in the game, Nelson took exception to Williams, who was waving a white flag in the bullpen in the ninth inning. The reliever told Williams he didn't like it, and the two started to fight. "He was standing in our bullpen waving the rally flag," Nelson said. "I told him if you're rooting for the Red Sox, why don't you go in their bullpen. He jumped in my face and tried to take a swing at me." Williams acknowledged pumping his fist twice while holding a white towel after the Red Sox turned a double play in the ninth inning, Steinberg said. "If that was in poor taste, or poor judgment, it certainly didn't warrant a beating," Steinberg said. Williams had cleat marks on his back and his arm, and he may have been kicked in the mouth, Steinberg said. He was recuperating at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Red Sox spokesman said. The Red Sox also said that two police officers in the bullpen backed Williams' story. McCarthy said police considered Williams the victim in the fight. After Nelson confronted Williams, a number of Yankees surrounded him before police moved in and escorted the Red Sox employee out the back. Garcia, who apparently leaped over the fence and got involved in the fight, appeared to injure his left hand. He was removed from the game before the bottom of the ninth started, and was taken to the training room with the hand wrapped.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Yes, Pedro DROPPED Zimmer. I mean did you see all of those punches that Pedro landed? You mean you didn't see them? Well then he must have kicked him or headbutted him to drop him, right? Seriously, Zimmer charged Pedro. Pedro put him on the ground, end of incident. Pedro can't let Zimmer hit him, and he never hit Zimmer. I don't see the problem.

Zimmer is an old slow guy... and Pedro is what? 20 something 30 something ? you really think is ok for a young man to drop on the ground a senior citizen? and then... I just saw that you guys discussed this topic on the prediction and discussion thread, so... Im sorry, I didnt checked that thread before... if you think the topic is dead.. no problem. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 "you really think is ok for a young man to drop on the ground a senior citizen" I do. But that's neither here nor there. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 If the senior citizen is charging you looking like he wants to hit you? Absolutely. And while it may have been the bigger thing to do, do you realize what the reaction would be for the ace of the Red Sox to run away from Don Zimmer?

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 12, 2003 I can't belive how few people found the entire game hilarious. my favorite was when they put Zimmer on a gurney and stuffed him in an ambulance after the game. Guess the Yankees doctor ran out of those little butterfly bandaids.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 As a fan of neither team, I did find it hilarious. I was shocked by the stretcher, I didn't think you could lay him down on his backs without his hemorrhoids killing him.

Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Pedro seriously shoulda kicked him in the balls and pedigreed him full on when he bent over. Or Zimmer shoulda backdropped out of it and warmed up the band for sweet chin music. That is maybe the only way that scene coulda got any funnier.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Pedro did NOTHING wrong here... Well, he tried to take Garica's head off, which led that imbecille Manny to think that Clemens was throwing at him (retaliation), which is what started the brawl. Please...Pedro sidestepped and old man zimmer fall on his face or ass (who can tell the difference)... He side stepped and shoved, actually.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Would you say the Yankees and Red Sox pulled the old double turn Saturday? Pedro threw the beloved Don Zimmer to the ground, and a Red Sox groundcrew or former groundcrew member cheap shoted Garcia.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Would you say the Yankees and Red Sox pulled the old double turn Saturday? Pedro threw the beloved Don Zimmer to the ground, and a Red Sox groundcrew or former groundcrew member cheap shoted Garcia. A decent analogy with just one problem. Most people are simply rooting against Boston at this point rather than for the Yankees. If the Yankees win the Series, it'll be back to everyone outside of New York rooting for whoever they're playing again.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 I thought it was Wells at first too, I thought to myself "Uh oh, David must have visited the Cask N' Flagon after BP today." I too found Zimmer's antics to be absolutely hilarious. Another memorable moment in a very interesting postseason. Everyone did something stupid and overreacted, except for Clemens really. He's the only one who kept things in check. But Karim Garcia is a friggin' baby for getting into such a huff from this that he got into a fight with a GROUNDSKEEPER!
