First an explanation - when we announced this competition a few days ago, there was a lot of confusion about how it would work, and we underestimated the amount of people who would want to enter (we said it would be open the first 50 to sign-up, but soon found that more people wanted to enter). As a result, we're starting again, so that everyone who wants to can enter. Also, below, you will find a more precise explanation of the competition. NB Just to make it clear, you no longer have to sign-up to play, which is why the original sign-up thread has been removed. You are considered to have entered once you've posted your diary. What is DiarySlam? DiarySlam is an EWR 4.0 Diary writing competition that is open to everyone. Every few weeks (see below for exact dates) a certain amount of diaries will be selected by the judges to go through to the next round. All the other diaries will be closed, signifying that they are eliminated. This will continue until one diary remains, which is the winner. What is the Prize? The prize is a free copy of Total Extreme Warfare on release date. Who are the judges? The judges will be Garry McNally, Adam Ryland, and some other members of the TEW team. How will the competition work? Each person can start one diary, and one diary only. Once the competition has begun, and you have posted your first entry, you are not then permitted to start a second diary, regardless of how badly the first one goes. The content is completely up to you - you can start as any promotion, with any stats update, run as many or as few shows as you wish, etc. The only limits are that your diary must be original (i.e. you cannot copy and paste from a diary you have done elsewhere) and it must be posted in this forum. The competition officially begins on Friday 17th October 2003. Any diary entries made before then will be ignored. However, you do not have to post on that day to enter - as long as you have done at least one diary entry before the end of the round, that is fine. Dates The competition will run to the following dates: Friday 17th October 2003 Competition opens Friday 14th November 2003 End of Round 1. The 25 best diaries will go through to round 2, the rest will be closed. Friday 12th December 2003 End of Round 2. The 10 best diaries will go through to round 3, the rest will be closed. Friday 16th January 2004 End of Round 3. The 3 best diaries will go through to the final round, the rest will be closed. Friday 30th January 2004 The winner will be selected. Please note that each player must hold a minimum of 1 show in their diary each round, or they will be eliminated automatically. What we are looking for Quite simply, we will be judging on quality and effort. Final Word People are welcome to make comments \ give feedback in other people's diaries, as long as it isn't negative stuff designed to try and get them eliminated. Funny, because I've actually been throwing a few ideas around in my head, and this could bring them to fruition if I find the time (since I killed my XPW by not updating for so long).
