I really hope last night's "Sunday Conversation" with Romanowski isn't the beginning of some big sympathy tour for him by the media. Yeah, you don't want anyone to get concussions, but don't paint this guy as some "warrior" now just because he has to retire. He's been a dickhead and a dirty player his entire career, who has spit in opponenet's faces during games and sucker-punched his own teammate just this past summer, on top of some other stuff I can't particularly remember this early in the morning. Not to mention, he was involved in some steroid ring or something (although to be honest I don't remember the details of that case). Bottom line is, don't give Romo the good guy treatment just because he's knocked his own ass silly one too many times. Anyone else bothered by this?

It's getting to the point where I'm bothered by anything ESPN does.

But yes, this is disturbing. I didn't see the segment, but the preview they ran for it was enough to make me puke. "Romo" is punk ass little bitch who is getting everything he deserves.

Romo ... looking for a post-football career, most likely in an NFL announcer's booth.

Romo ... not deserving of a post-football career.

Fuck him, what goes around comes around, Bill. If you believe in karma, well karma just bit you on your ass.

but Iverson's hardly a sympathetic character.

as for Romo, did anyone else catch when he said he knew he was in deep shit when he had to tell himself not to lead with his head? Don't they teach kids not to lead with thier head? And why could that be, I wonder....

They're gonna need a helluva push to make Romo a sympathetic character. But then again, Allen Iverson is no longer a street thug, so what do I know?

It helps that Iverson was never a street thug and a bunch of idiots just labeled him as one because he had the nerve to have cornrows.

Amen...I think it started with that awful Bob Knight movie they did and the network has just gone downhill since. Now they are going to hit a new low by starting a morning talk show. From what I've read they won't always focus on sports and will try to draw in marginal and non-sports fans. Okay what marginal and non-sports fans are watching ESPN at 7 a.m.? Yes I'm sure all those house wives are gonna turn off Katie Couric to watch ESPN.

There's no faster way to sink a cable channel then original programming.

It wasn't just Romanowski saying that about the new hitting rule.

That technique was being taught to players somewhere.

ESPN is slowly killing itself.

I don't want original programming on a sports network!!! I want sports on a sports network.

I guess they think people give a shit about the top 10 plays of the week.

I never got the logic of doing a highlight reel bit on a show composed entirely of highlights.

Well back in the day when Dan Patrick and Keith Olberman were doing the Sunday Night SportsCenter they would do the Plays of the Week and they'd do little commentary over the highlights and it was funny as hell. SportsCenter now IMO is completely unwatchable.

Its funny how ESPN has seemingly gone downhill, along with the original programming, after Fox Sports gave up trying to compete with them by dumping all of its highlight programs. Gee sounds like another organization when its competition died off.

Romo is the latest example of how a DIRTY player on GOOD teams, get a free fucking pass, while I have to sit and watch Lavar Arrington get a roughing the passer call for basically giving someone a lovetap .01seconds too late.

It doesn't matter who you are. If you use anything harder than a touch on the QB after the ball has been thrown you will be called.

and the Raiders suck this year.

Regarding roughing the passer...I've been wondering why I see Steve McNair take some HARD shots after throwing the ball -- shots that I wouldn't call roughing, by the way -- but other QBs get tapped like you said and it's a flag.

Oh, and did you hear that ESPN is going to do an American Idol-style reality show to pick their next Sportscenter anchor?

Another gripe: Why is the "Top 10" plays of the week more like 15-20 plays? Just drop the "Top 10" and call it Plays of the Week already. And why do you have to do Plays of the Week AND the "Ultimate Highlight" thing on the same show?

Then there's the shameless advertising: The Budweiser Hot Seat, the Coors Light guys singing about NFL Week 6...I'm just waiting for Stuart Scott to whip out a bottle of Aspirin during the show and talk about how "playing in the NFL can give anyone a headache."

Honestly, I'd love it to see people in the middle of a show suddenly start hawking a product. I'd get good laughs from it.

That would be a great deal more entertaining than an actual commercial.
