Banky, you should check out the Ryan Adams/Emmylou Harris cover of "Return of the Grievous Angel". It's quite nice. If you want to talk about cheap imposters, there's always the Cheryl Crow cover... but you're right. The Gram Parsons version is superior.

Oh, I feel you there. I was rocking "In My Hour of Darkness" towards the end of the schoolyear last year, and everyone just looked at me funny. I love that quote...."In my hour of darkness, in my time of need, Oh Lord, grant me vision, Oh Lord, grant me speed." It's just good shit.

Man, no one I know likes Parsons either. Its pretty much stuff I jam to when I'm by myself...which is almost better.

 

I know Adams solo stuff, but I haven't gotten my paws on an Whiskeytown albums. I've heard tracks, which I liked, but I haven't moved on to the albums.

 

I dig Adams stuff, so I should probably check out the Whiskeytown material. There's definate similarities between Adams and Parsons. Both were trainwrecks waiting to happen, unfortunately, Adams probably will succumb to the same fate as Parsons. He lives a fast and hard life, man.

 

BTW, I wasn't pissing on Adams as a performer, just you referring to him as the Grievous Angel as that is what Parson's used to dub himself. His last album, released right after his death, was called Grievous Angel.
