The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I'm sure this has been up before, but... What was the actual attendance at WM III? I'm sure I've read it somewhere and I'm sure it wasn't the 93,000 that Vince would like us to believe. But I can't remember how much lower than that it was. Or I could be completely wrong and it really was 93,000.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I heard that in reality the crowd was more like 70 some thousand. I don't think there is an accurate figure anywhere though.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I believe it was somewhere around 78,000.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2003 Fact is though no one knows for sure. WWF say 93,000. Smarks say 78,000. One way or another the highest ever in the US.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2003 I certainly didn't notice any half empty sections.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 Actually, the Silverdome says 78,000. Well, that's what Meltzer says.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 17, 2003 so the effort to sell it on 93,00? any special reason? I mean 78,000 seems good enough
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 17, 2003 so in reality SummerSlam 1992 was the REAL biggest crowd in wwe historu?
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted October 17, 2003 No confirmation. Maybe the SSlam 92 attendance was boosted up to seem more impressive. Sure as hell looked like WM III was a lot larger.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I believe the Wembely crowd was legit 80,000+ according to Meltz...

Tawren 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 For the record, nobody has any proof of whether it is 93 000 or 78 000. Everything is speculation.
Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 Yeah, but it was [/i]most likely 78,000.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 What're the official total capacities of those two arenas?
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted October 17, 2003 That won't tell you much, considering the WWF exceeded the capacity either way. They had a TON of chairs on the field, which wouldn't be taken into account with the capacity numbers and wouldn't provide much insight.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 17, 2003 you also have to discount space from tv towers and such...
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted October 17, 2003 There is definately no way to tell. How did Meltzer find out how many people were there anyway?
Guest NazMistry Report post Posted October 17, 2003 Wembley Stadium before it was knocked down had a seating capacity of 82,000 for football matches (soccer). Add to the fact that a lot of the pictch itself was covered, I'd say Summerslam 92 probably had close to 90,000 spectators.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2003 I don't know how Meltz found otu but it sure as hell LOOKED and SOUNDED like 93,000. But again no one knows.

Guest Putty Report post Posted October 17, 2003 Perhaps Silverdome goes by tickets sold. And perhaps 78,000 tickets were sold for Wrestlemania III, and the actual attendence was indeed 93,000. Perhaps...
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 An old saying goes- when faced with fact or legend, print the legend. Come on, 93,173- It just rolls off the tongue, say it with me- NINTEY-THREE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted October 18, 2003 (edited) Wrestlemania III was better than SSlam 92, so it wins in largest attendance that can't be proved. Edited October 18, 2003 by The Real Nosferatu
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 THE SILVERDOME SAYS 78 000! Vince admitted to working figures! JESUS CHRIST THIS WAS ESTABLISHED *YEARS* AGO.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 18, 2003 Wrestlemania III was better than SSlam 92, so it wins in largest attendance that can't be proved. each show had a ****1/2 IC Title match and a shitty card over all but the aura I guess of Andre/Hogan as bad as a "match" as it was beats Warrior/Savage which hit ***1/2. Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2003 I was there....there was a lot of f'n people. It seems like I remember the Silverdome capacity as being around 80,000 and then add the chairs on the field.......I'd believe 93,000 before 78,000.
Guest theoldxpac Report post Posted October 21, 2003 Wembly holds 80,000 easily, they didnt bost that one up.
Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted October 22, 2003 Pointless argument, but WM 3 was top to bottom one of the most stacked cards ever... The Bees vs Foriegn Fucks was just about the only "pointless" match every other match was a fued or used to put new talent over. Awaits arguments.
Slingshot Suplex 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2003 Even the Bees vs Volkoff and Shiek had a purpose....it got a fairly recently debuted Hacksaw Duggan even more over than he was.
