Guest Evolution Report post Posted September 29, 2004 Marvin Jenkins - pitching first in the Twisters' major league rotation. Gabriel Cirillo - pitching second in the Twisters' major league rotation. Charlie Simmons - pitching third in the Twisters' major league rotation. So, is this the first 1-2-3 All-TSM Starting Rotation? Pretty sure that it is. I think the closest to a 1-2-3 rotation was LeBeau/Gonzales back when they were both in Atlanta. I can't think of anything since.

Get it together! I don't care that Gonzo pitches fifth and Onita pitches third and thus has gotten more starts, or the fact that 'Beanball' is winless... CF Anton Gonzalez from Chicago CF Mike Cannington from Las Vegas - 8th All-Star Selection CF Stephen Tampke from New York - 1st All-Star Selection RF Jose Etenza from Denver - 6th Consecutive All-Star Selection RF Jed Goude from Philadelphia - 3rd Consecutive All-Star Selection Overview: Plenty of first-timers, and Zoilo will be celebrating his 10th All-Star Selection, which is a great achievement. Many are looking forward to seeing both Peter Kostka and Gabriel Cirillo in their first All-Star Games, even though Andres Cifuentes is nearly a lock to be the starting pitcher for the East-West. These players were selected for the NS OOTP-Allstar Team : P Claudio Galaviz from Memphis - 3rd Consecutive All-Star Selection, 10th Selection Overall P Eugene Viljoen from Memphis P Ramon Razo from Indianapolis P Manuel Chao from Kansas City P Andrew Fasquelle from Jacksonville P Raul Alvarado from Detroit P Miguel Moldonado from New Jersey - 6th All-Star Selection P Chris Addington from Memphis P Bradly Goedert from Houston - 1st All-Star Selection P Celso Frese from Indianapolis C Michael Maley from New Orleans - 2nd Consecutive All-Star Selection C Bill Volker from New Jersey 1B Robert Henderson from Memphis - 9th Consecutive All-Star Selection, 11th Selection Overall 1B Norris Barnett from Vancouver - 1st All-Star Selection 2B Neall Isaacson from Columbus - 8th Consecutive All-Star Selection, 9th Selection Overall 2B Trent Morphy from New Jersey - 6th All-Star Selection 3B Nathan Smith from Columbus 3B Steve Hatfield from Atlanta - 2nd Consecutive All-Star Selection, 5th Selection Overall SS Lloyd Bazley from New Jersey - 2nd Consecutive All-Star Selection LF John Scherfenberg from Columbus - 3rd Consecutive All-Star Selection, 6th Selection Overall CF Jonathan Dehn from Columbus - 2nd Consecutive All-Star Selection CF Manny Donato from Memphis RF Brandon Mariano from Jacksonville - First All-Star Selection since 2011 RF Teyo Mayem from Indianapolis - 2nd Consecutive All-Star Selection RF Balesio Varela from Vancouver Overview: There's a little bit more experience and not too many first timers. Henderson is back for yet another All-Star Game, and is the most experienced All-Star on both rosters. Not a lot of TSM players here present, however. This is understandable, of course, as the only good TSM players are the batters, and the pitchers are definitely not All-Star material, at least not this year. The Game East-West Conference Starters: C Jerrold Mauder 1B Merlin McKnight 2B Joe Colopy 3B Logan Caldwell SS Robert Gennari LF Anton Gonzalez CF Mike Cannington RF Jose Etenza DH Francisco Parisi SP Bill Cobos North-South Conference Starters: C Bill Volker 1B Robert Henderson 2B Neall Isaacson 3B Nathan Smith SS Lloyd Bazley LF John Scherfenberg CF Manny Donato RF Balesio Varela DH Trent Morphy SP Claudio Galaviz After a two-out single from Denver's Jose Etenza in the top of the first inning, Las Vegas' Mike Cannington hit a double off Eels pitcher Claudio Galaviz, scoring Etenza for the first run of the game. The East-West added another run in the top of the seventh when Chicago's Logan Caldwell led off the inning with a solo homerun off Manuel Chao. The North-South answered in the bottom half of the inning, when Clerks shortstop Lloyd Bazley doubled down the right field line, scoring Pride teammates John Scherfenberg and Neall Isaacson to tie the game at two runs a piece, also effectively removing Philadelphia's Peter Kostka. The East-West All-Stars were quick to break the tie, as pinch-hitter Arne Snider led off the top of the eighth with a solo homerun, spoiling Chris Addington's outing right out of the gate. Later in the inning, designated hitter Francisco Parisi hit a double down the left field line, scoring Anton Gonzalez who had just hit a triple. Bradly Goedert, pitching in his first All-Star Game, came on in relief of Addington, and quickly gave up a frozen rope to the gap in right-center from Logan Caldwell. Parisi scored easily to make the score 5-2, but Caldwell was thrown out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple, ending the top of the eighth inning. In the ninth inning, the East-West added one more run for insurance as Stephen Tampke grounded into a fielder's choice to shortstop Lloyd Bazley with one out in the inning. Bazley threw out Joe Colopy, but pinch-hitter Kevin Mugan scored from third to give the East-West All-Stars a four run lead. Final score: East-West All-Stars 6, North-South All-Stars 2 This is the third consecutive victory in the All-Star Game for the East-West All-Stars. TSM player breakdown: Logan Caldwell - All-Star Game MVP - 2-for-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, solo homerun in the seventh inning and RBI double in the eighth inning. Peter Kostka - 1 2/3 innings pitched, 2 ER, 3 HA, 1 BB, allowed the only runs scored by the North-South Robert Henderson - 1-for-3. Replaced by Teyo Mayem in the ninth inning with unsuccessful results. Jonathan Dehn - Defensive replacement at centerfield in the late innings, no official at-bats. Gabriel Cirillo - No playing time. Vasarian_Brandy 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Injuries: Tuesday 6/5/2019 : BOS: Christian Fury was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Strained Hip Muscle. He will be OK in about one week. 14) Christian Fury (.277, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 7 R, 13 H, 8 2B, 1 3B, 0 SB, 3 BB) 13) Christian Fury (.244, 11 HR, 54 RBI, 41 R, 64 H, 22 2B, 1 3B, 7 SB, 26 BB) (-2) Doubles TSM - Yes (Logan Caldwell, Christian Fury, and Robert Henderson, on pace for 50, 50, and 48, respectively) [48] Christian Fury - playing first base for the Tea Baggers, batting fifth against right-handed pitchers and left-handed pitchers. Well... Knew my first injury was going to happen soon. Just glad it happened as early as it did. Only a week, too... Not shabby. Nice to see my offensive production tailing off close to the mid-year mark. Rgh. I'm supposed to be relatively consistent! But, I guess that could mean consistently slumping, too... :| Cool beans about the possible run at the doubles record for TSM players... Warning track power has its uses after all! And they're finally giving me full-time in the heart of the lineup. This may help things along... Though... Maybe the pressure's getting to me... :|
Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 1, 2004 Fury, your mention of your offensive production gave me an idea. I decided to track down how everyone has done in their rookie season, for both batters and pitchers. I then decided to rank them, just to see who's had the best rookie season. Some of the answers are surprising: 1) Paco Fernandez (.300, 22 HR, 91 RBI, 129 R, 171 H, 25 2B, 18 3B, 65 SB, 63 BB) 2) Jesse Ewiak (.318, 33 HR, 116 RBI, 110 R, 183 H, 48 2B, 5 3B, 15 SB, 75 BB) 3) Robert Henderson (.336, 20 HR, 85 RBI, 107 R, 201 H, 29 2B, 4 3B, 32 SB, 54 BB) 4) David Hunter (.277, 23 HR, 115 RBI, 104 R, 169 H, 24 2B, 11 3B, 51 SB, 51 BB) 5) Logan Caldwell (.307, 31 HR, 103 RBI, 101 R, 187 H, 33 2B, 5 3B, 3 SB, 54 BB) 6) Adam West (.269, 25 HR, 82 RBI, 108 R, 166 H, 37 2B, 8 3B, 61 SB, 59 BB) 7) Mike Van Siclen (.309, 26 HR, 89 RBI, 99 R, 183 H, 30 2B, 7 3B, 17 SB, 43 BB) 8) RJ Frost (.323, 20 HR, 101 RBI, 96 R, 186 H, 38 2B, 2 3B, 0 SB, 54 BB) 9) Edward James (.292, 16 HR, 81 RBI, 78 R, 156 H, 34 2B, 9 3B, 48 SB, 49 BB) 10) Joseph Corbin (.280, 18 HR, 84 RBI, 95 R, 166 H, 44 2B, 12 3B, 21 SB, 50 BB) 11) John Duran (.295, 22 HR, 84 RBI, 97 R, 167 H, 33 2B, 2 3B, 0 SB, 34 BB) 12) Brandon Rhodes (.261, 23 HR, 77 RBI, 88 R, 145 H, 32 2B, 8 3B, 38 SB, 58 BB) 13) Austin Sly (.268, 22 HR, 76 RBI, 97 R, 156 H, 30 2B, 5 3B, 21 SB, 57 BB) 14) Jonathan Dehn (.250, 12 HR, 69 RBI, 94 R, 128 H, 25 2B, 12 3B, 47 SB, 50 BB) 15) Timothy Marsch (.318, 10 HR, 45 RBI, 72 R, 145 H, 18 2B, 9 3B, 40 SB, 28 BB) 16) Patrick Hannon (.272, 17 HR, 72 RBI, 90 R, 139 H, 36 2B, 2 3B, 9 SB, 69 BB) 17) Carlos Desantis (.251, 18 HR, 71 RBI, 89 R, 150 H, 28 2B, 3 3B, 1 SB, 75 BB) 18) Charlie Matthews (.326, 9 HR, 57 RBI, 53 R, 130 H, 21 2B, 2 3B, 10 SB, 34 BB) 19) Winston Ghandi (.271, 7 HR, 62 RBI, 66 R, 139 H, 28 2B, 10 3B, 3 SB, 56 BB) 20) Shiro Suzuki (.229, 12 HR, 55 RBI, 76 R, 139 H, 27 2B, 6 3B, 1 SB, 67 BB) Just for a lark, here's a look at pitcher's rookie seasons (when they had 50 or more IP): 1) Frigid Soul (6-8, 4.57 ERA, 101 Ks, 82 BB) 2) Ann Onita (17-6, 4.15 ERA, 106 Ks, 79 BB) 3) Ben Dover (6-12, 4.76 ERA, 128 Ks, 89 BB) 4) Rolf Dreikugeln (10-5, 3.45 ERA, 62 Ks, 33 BB) 5) Nigel McClain (14-15, 4.45 ERA, 131 Ks, 83 BB) 6) Marvin Jenkins (9-13, 4.18 ERA, 118 Ks, 76 BB) 7) Eric LeBeau (10-11, 4.84 ERA, 135 Ks, 92 BB) 8) Gabriel Cirillo (8-10, 4.62 ERA, 92 Ks, 90 BB) 9) Alex Zenon (3-5, 5.37 ERA, 50 Ks, 19 BB) 10) Peter Kostka (4-0, 4.38 ERA, 47 Ks, 37 BB) 11) Giant Gonzales (3-1, 4.73 ERA, 51 Ks, 15 BB)
Guest Obrechtion Report post Posted October 1, 2004 I never would have thought that Paco would have had the best rookie season so far. Looks like Paco was holding Logan back in Chicago.
Vasarian_Brandy 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 1) Frigid Soul (6-8, 4.57 ERA, 101 Ks, 82 BB) 2) Ann Onita (17-6, 4.15 ERA, 106 Ks, 79 BB) Ruleage on being an inspiration for an idea! (Y)~! But here's my question: Look at the folks I quoted. How could Ann, who you listed in the second-place ranking, be second when she's 11 games over .500, with a lower ERA, higher strikeout total, and lower walks allowed than the first place folk? When it comes down to it, the determination for sorting seasons was hits given up per nine innings. Frigid Soul gave up less hits per nine innings than Ann Onita, but not by much. The sorting of pitchers is kinda difficult, however, because many TSM pitchers have not had seasons where they pitched over 50 IP (which is why Markus Cirillo isn't on the pitcher list). It's really hard to gauge how good a pitcher is until he really gets out there and pitches.

Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 1, 2004 I've simmed up to the day before the trading deadline. If there are any people who want to be traded, speak now. For those looking for championship rings, these are the teams that would make the playoffs if the season were to end today: New York Oklahoma Seattle Boston/Philadelphia (tied in Wildcard) Columbus Memphis Jacksonville New Jersey If the team you play for is not on this list, and you want a chance at some postseason play, make sure to say so. Contract extensions are coming up as well, and there are a few possible TSM free agents if they are not resigned: David Hunter Carlos Desantis Mike Van Siclen Obviously, it'll be interesting to see if Atlanta wants to keep Carlos. He would like to stay with the team. Same with Van Siclen and Hunter.

Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2004 I'd ask to see if Gonales can go back to Seattle, the first team he was with, but I notice they've got playoff hopes, so I don't want to drag them down, nor would I imagine they'd take Gonzo anyway. Since you told me he's been released, er, I guess you can see which teams have interest in getting him, but if possible no minor-league stuff...or something. There's a way to solve this to benefit both of us. COME TO BOSTON! THE POWER OF THE TEA BAGGING COMPELS YOU!!! Yeah, and then Kostka and the Freedom will knock both of you out of contention. Both of the teams are pretty even, so it should be a fairly tight race for the wildcard.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2004 While I thank you for the offer to join Boston, I had already stated that unless the Freedom trade me, I'm remaining as a Philly player until my contract ends. And then I'll probably not be re-signed and have to retire.

I'll stay in Boston until they trade me, or completely implode and make it obvious they're not in contention for a long, long time.

(Blinks in shock at the release of Gonzales) Uhm... Wow, that's kinda wild. What's up with that, 'Drea? (Then blinks at Kostka's injury) ... Hmm... Wonder what this means for the Freedom. ( at my month) Oooooh... There we go. A possible post All-Star Game breakout? Whatever the case, a general overall improvement is a good thing. Yes! More doubles! Not too far off from pacing the East-West record... And I'm back to leading off against lefties... Is it the walks? The hits? The steals? Or are they just that desperate???
