Steviekick Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 from http://www.roadrun.com/blabbermouth.net/ FOZZY Do Away With Gimmicks, Concentrate On Original Material On Upcoming CD - Oct. 19, 2003 FOZZY, the brainchild of former WWE champion Chris Jericho and ex-STUCK MOJO mastermind Rich Ward, have decided to do away with their "SPINAL TAP of '80s hairspray metal scene" gimmick and record an album consisting 100% of original material. The band's follow-up to last year's "Happenstance", which contained four original songs alongside a host of classic metal covers, is tentatively due next spring. "You can consider this the beginning of the true FOZZY dynasty," the group's webmaster Eddie Dibergi writes on their web site. "Yes, the band will continue to put on the most entertaining and powerful show in rock but the gimmicks will be retired. Love 'em or hate 'em, the music and performances will stand on their own with nothing to get in the way. And we're sure that the legend built touring the world these past three years will continue to grow as new fans witness first-hand the machine that is FOZZY. "As I type, Rich Ward is heavy into pre-production crafting some of the most brutal riffs ever to be recorded. Chris and I are working on getting all of the pieces in place for the recording and worldwide distribution of the new disc and other FOZZY materials. The band is tentatively scheduled to be in the studio right after the New Year. The new disc will be recorded in Atlanta and Tampa studios. Expect lots of info, pics and clips once things get rolling" In addition to continuing work on the material for their next full-length effort, the band will participate in "a huge upcoming CD compilation release" with a new song that is "about to be recorded," according to Jericho. No further information is available at this time.
Guest Choken One Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 WHOO! Just in time for Jericho to say fuck you to vince and take th music world by storm... The original Happenstance stuff was great and so a WHOLE album full will be sweetness.
Slayer Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Watch Levesque try to upstage Jericho by forming his own metal act Of course, given Levesque's vocal talents, he probably couldn't do anything beyond death metal <fast guitar riffs> "uuuhhhhh... uhhhhhhh.... uh uh uhhhhh.... unnnhhhhh.... uhhhhhhhh..."
Slayer Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 BTW, Fozzy rules. Keep up the good work, Jericho
CanadianChick Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I'll be buying the album. The orginal songs on Happenstance were great.
Guest Basswitch Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I liked the Fozzy Albums and i'll probally get this one. However, they are not that great live (I dled a few of their live concert vids), IMO, Jericho's voice sounds much better on CD.
Lil' Bitch Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I'm a fan for covers, but all originals would so rock. Hopefully, this will help Fozzy get even more mainstream. Fozzy forever!
