RAW Thoughts...I'

Recommended Posts

RAW was boring. Say what you will about a few funny moments, a decent tag, and a decent ME, this show sucks. It was much better than the recent year's crapfests, but does not warrant any praise.

1) What is the deal with Lita? Her music, which used to just SUCK, is now sucky and annoying, with the ridiculous SCREAMING ABOUT YOUR RULES MANNNNN repeated. And her ring skills blow, which has her heat almost gone.:) Back to Heat soon for you, Amy...a road less traveled by people with talent.

By the way, I checked out Lita's book at the store...the first page I opened to had a typo IN THE HEADING. Nice work.

2)Lance Storm. The guy had great heat two weeks ago, and now comes out to generic rap crap, dances to no pop, and gets killed by Roid Zilla. Nice work. By the way, when JR was throwing verbal BJs to IC champs, great job of mentioning Storm. Not like you want the fans to take him seriously...

3)Survivor Series 10-man tag. The Good: It allows Smackdown's superior workers to have more matches. The Bad: IT WONT...because the writers will find someway to fill the matches at the PPV with "Orton Vs. Maven: Respect Match" or some filler crap.

Whoops, wasn't finished.

Anyway. 4)Cade, learn to throw a punch.

5) Goldberg does not have the fan support to warrant his SuperMan Super Baby Face Austin '98 push. God. The fans, usually 100% bored by Michaels, were actually cheering HBK to take the strap. Nice way to HOOK the fans for the main event spot.

6)Batista. GOD! No, not HHH. But what the hell? Booking rookie monster to work with Goldberg?

Remember when RAW had electric moments around characters you cared for?

Was I supposed to stand up and applaud Maven when his music played, after his "epic" best effort against Flair?

Maven has done nothing to earn my respect, expect win a contest, throw a dropkick, and have cool eyebrows.

RAW sucks. I wish Nitro was still around, as while Tank Abbott and 3 Count didnt throw Dragon Sleepers in every match, they at least made me smile.

How is he getting the super face push when they protect Mark Henry from him. I mean when you can't even pin a lower card guy clean your getting a very half assed push.

Plus he didn't last very long against the bounty hunters either.

See, it would take intelligent writers to do this correctly. Goldberg was punked by MARK HENRY...who's claim to fame was tilting cars on Smackdown last year.

So what, Batista did a run in? Am I supposed to care or Be impressed that he took out Goldberg? Mark Henry did it 3 weeks ago...Michaels knocked him out last week...and Henry did it again this week.

Why have Goldberg made to look so vulnerable...did they want to push Henry, who hasn't been in a decent match since, what, tagging with DLo 4 years ago, as a world title contender?

Raw needs characters to care about. Not washed up Michaels, Henry push #3456, boring Goldberg, washed up Nash, washed up Flair, no-gimmick Maven, washed up Dudleyz...

Even Jericho, the once savior of Raw, repeats the same phrases each week while continuing this ridiculous feud with Austin, a non-wrestler.

Triple H is the savior of Raw. For you see, though he puts no one over and is injured quite often, he's the only credible character on the show.

Jericho/Christian = Beaten by non-wrestling boss. Made to look like tools.

Hurricane/Rosey = Squashed, stupid gimmicks.

Henry = Lumbering clown.

Bischoff = Eats 90-year old crotch.

Steiner/Test/Stacy = MegaPowers 2k3...without heat.

Storm = dancing poor man's Shamrock.

Orton's got the look, but not the talent.

Goldberg and Michaels have done all they can, but remain one-dimensional/incorrectly booked, and washed up, respectively.

Lets not forget the stale Dudleyz.

and La Resistance...while boring and lacking skill, at least seemed unbeatable. The team of Grenier/DuPree only suffered ONE pinfall loss, a non-title Heat match. Now they've got Conway, who reminds me of Rocky Maivia/Buff Bagwell, in terms of skill.

Maven, a vanilla midcarder.

Nash, who has always sucked.

Who else do we have? Booker T? He's never been booked as someone who can "get it done"...it took him half a year's feud to win the damn Raw Tag Titles last year! That reign lasted 2 weeks.

I actually liked the show tonight. I was skeptical with how the show would be after the way that it kicked off. Steve Austin was the first to come out, and I instantly thought that the entire show was going to be based around him. Surprisingly, it wasn't.

I will admit that the Austin/Stacy shit was ignorant and uncalled for. Seeing as how Austin didn't turn heel after hitting Stacy with the Stunner last week, this week's segment was uncalled for. Since Austin didn't turn heel, it never should've happened. Wasted airtime. Basically, it was the WWE saying that it's ok to hit women if they don't listen/do what you tell them. Then again, the announcement of the classic Survivor Series match was made. So far, we know that Scott Steiner & Chris Jericho will be playing for Eric Bischoff's side and Booker T. will be swinging for Austin's team.

The Dudley Boys Vs. La Résistance (Conway & Dupree) wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I say it week in and week out, but I think Rob Conway has tons of potential. Moreso than anyone else in recent memory. I just think he has "it." The Dudleys winning with the Doomsday Device was a nice homage to the Road Warriors after the passing of Hawk.

The video package for Stu Hart was well done and very classy. You can't deny what the man has done for the business. Hell, just look at the list of wrestlers whom he had a hand in training.

Ric Flair is still gold. Maybe not so much in the ring, but him on camera, to me, it always entertaining. It's the little things. The facial expressions, the intensity, the promo delivery, the charisma. You can't teach that folks. "I murdered him!" "I lost the money." "WHAT?!"

Chris Jericho & Scott Steiner Vs. Rob Van Dam & Lance Storm was pretty predictable. I assume the two faces will join in on the Survivor Series match. There was a bad botched spot in this match, but it'd be pointless to dwell on it.

The highlight of the show for me, was the direction that storylines are taking. I actually want to watch the next show because I want to see how things unfold. I was interested to see how Jericho/Trish would pan out. Now with the Christian/Lita thing, I'm left guessing. That's exactly what it would be if I tried to figure this thing out too, a guess. A shot in the dark. Hopefully, the WWE won't mess this up. I'm been upset with storylines since the HHH/Angle/Steph love triangle. Now is their chance to make up for that.

Kane's promo was decent. He had a monster type delivery, and Shane was nowhere to be found. You can't ask for more if you ask me. Kane also had some visible physical damage this week. At least someone is trying.

The low point of the show (aside from the always awful commentary) was Mark Henry taking out Goldberg for no reason whatsoever. Mark Henry didn't get the money because he didn't get the job done. Goldberg wasn't even injured enough to not be able to compete later in the night. Mark Henry sucks, plain and simple. He's not going anywhere, no one cares about him, he has no wrestling talent, he has no charisma, he doesn't have a good look, and he can't talk. What else could be wrong with him?

Truthfully, I was too busy posting on another message forum to pay attention to the women's match. That being said, the lack of Gail Kim can only increase the amount of workrate. I assume that Molly & Trish did most of the work. Victoria probably got in a few shows and took some bumps, and Lita would take the hot tag going into the finish. At least, that's ideal. I did see the Stevie Richards run-in which resulted in a painful looking bump by Trish. The Christian "save" really did baffle me however. I liked it, but I have no idea where this is going. Will it just be a ploy to get Austin fired? Probably, but I hope that Jericho & Trish actually stay together. Perhaps Jericho will turn face and Christian will remain heel. That way, it sets up a match between the two, Christian will get some more heat, especially since this will be revealed that Christian was mocking Jericho. Christian could be jealous. Whatever. As long as it doesn't end with Austin leaving for Smackdown and then Jericho & Christian dumping the women because they don't need them anymore.

Ric Flair Vs. Maven was pretty much all you can ask for from the two on free TV. Had it been a PPV match, it could've went about twelve minutes and added in some leg work by Flair setting up the Figure-four submission finish. As it was, a Raw match, it turned out fine. Both men got about equal offense and Flair, the veteran, went over with his "knowledge". Basically, the heel cheated to beat the up and comer in an even contest that went to the better man. You can tell that Maven is still as green as grass, however you can tell that he wants to do what he's doing as well. He's improving, and barring injury, he can't get worse.

Finally, the main event. I was curious as to why the match wouldn't be the last match before all the Mark Henry shit unfolded. That being said, the title match should always be the final match on the card. I was really looking forward to this match. If anyone can get a great match out of Goldberg, it would be Shawn Michaels. The match was doing fairly well, however I think that HBK should've continued with the leg work. Goldberg is obviously getting better at selling, but he still has a fair ways to go. Batista showing up surprised me. I didn't think that he was healthy yet. That powerbomb he did to Goldberg looked nasty. It appeared as if he delivered it with more force than he used to pre-injury.

Seeing as how Batista made his return, it made sense for Triple H to show up earlier in the night. So, after Batista showed up and Evolution posed at the top of the ramp for the show to go off, I wasn't mad about Triple H showing up anymore. Still though, you hear about him leaving, and he's yet to not be included in any of the shows! Well, at least he should be gone for two weeks during his honeymoon with Steph. Of course, they will probably still show some pretaped promos or some shit in his absense.

Whatever, it was still a good show. I anticipate next week. Hopefully they can deliver again

Should i scold the newbie for making a Raw thread outside of the one and only, there fore implying his thoughts are more important than others, and they deserve a seperate thread?

Hey newbie, you forgot to mention the only babyface that the fans really care for even though he's been used badly for 2 years already.....R-V-D.

Storm came out to silence, but the crowd warmed up to him quickly. The crowd was pretty good all night.

Other than the first segment (which rubbed me the wrong way big time), the show was better than the masturbatory crap Smackdown puts out.

Hey, I guess I am a "newbie" as far as posting goes....but Ive been reading this board and reading this particular wave of a site ever since the Rantsylvania.com days...so chill. I've also worked for northeast independents and probably know more about the business than you.

I made the "Raw Thoughts" not to demean the "one and only" thread, but to give a thread for thoughts the day after, so we wouldnt have to drudge through 37+ pages of Live Raw comments.

Thanks.

7) Stop being a whiny bitch. It was a good show.

 He got the same reaction he always gets.

I guess I'm a whiny bitch that expects better from RAW than you. If you like watching old man heat-dog Michaels fighting Goldberg, where you know a title change won't occur, the two of them are barely cared about by the crowd, and the product is a "big gold belt", ahem, "title" match, then by all means, enjoy it. But I'll be angry until the stupid brand extension is finally ended, as the company will never even get close to greatness until it happens.

Raw sucked...Kane's promo was well delivered, though. But what is this, 1990? "I'm gonna rip out your intestines!"

Yea, but all you need to do is to look at the Raw thread to see everybody was entertained by it except you. It had decent wrestling (tag team, goldberg/shawn, womens, orton/booker, flair/maven) and orton and flair were funny. About the only thing that was pure crap was Dudleys/La Resistance. Oh and Austin in the beginning. Save your bitching for Smackdown if it's the like the last two weeks.
