One event doesn't mean that an entire fed is dead. Circumstances can come up, shit happens.

If the fed cancels all events for the foreseeable future and announces no shows in the immeidate future, then we can assume that MLW is dead.

Until MLW does that, just assume a cancelled show.

It is a BIG assumption to assume they are dead because of one canceled show.

The reason for the cancelation will give a much better indication of how they are doing.

The building they were running, have they held a show there before?

You don't just cancel an event 3 days before it happens, especially for a promotion that is pretty big like this. This just isn't a small indy show. They were bringing in talent from Japan and Mexico. The guys from Japan have probably already began flying over for the show. I can't think of any other reason they would cancel it besides loss of funding.

well, this was their first time in J-vile. Maybe its something to do with that. Oh, and BPS, your MLW review was good, so good I decided not to review them. (I wrote one but didn't bother to type it after yours) I guess I stick to my EWR MLW. (PLUG~!)

The following was posted this afternoon on MLW.com:

MLW JACKSONVILLE 10/24 SHOW TO BE RESCHEDULED

Due to unforeseen circumstances, MLW is unfortunately rescheduling its October 24th Jacksonville, FL event. For ticket refunds, please contact Ticketmaster at: www.TicketMaster.com. We will advise you of the rescheduled date as soon as possible. Please visit: www.MLW.com in the coming days for more information on this.

The Major League Wrestling event was to be headlined by Terry Funk vs. Steve Corino in a dog collar chain match. More on this story as it comes in.

You can be the MLW reviewer if you want. With Xplosion, IWA and my TNA preview my hands are full. The worst part is all 4 things come within 4 days.

My guess is they'll replay some older matches to help build their next show. Possibly showing the Steve Corino vs. Terry Funk Barbed Wire match and War Games again. Da Hit Squad vs. Samoan Island Tribe, Homicide vs. Jerry Lynn, NOSAWA vs. Raven, C.M. Punk vs. Vampiro, and C.M. Punk vs. Raven.

I highly doubt the Company is dead. As others has said, this is the first time they are running in Jacksonville so maybe ticket sales were low or something did happen that Court had to cancel the event. I can't see the company going under with the crowds they have had at their shows. I mean at War Games, the place was pretty damn packed for a friday night and was a great show overall. They have another show in November and their big one in December so I would start worrying then when they start to cancel those as well.

I don't think that they are dead yet or anything, but they certainly aren't doing well financially.

I tend to doubt that their ticket sales are enough to cover bringing in all the wrestlers that they bring in (from elsewhere in the country and overseas) plus building rent. Ticket sales are there only revenue stream too. Well, only significant one. Their tape selling/merchandise is very unorganized, plus they are giving away all of those matches on free TV. I even think I read that they pay a weekly fee to have their show on the Sunshine network (which would make sense).

Although there is a good chance that this cancelation didn't have anything to do with financial problems, MLW's business model is pretty weak and its only a matter of time before the well dries up.

I think the Global Tag Carnival in January will be a big sign since they plan on bringing in alot of Japanese talent. If MLW goes through with that show then we'll know it wasn't a financial situation or anything.

It has to be financial. If it wasn't, I'm sure they'd go out of there way to let everyone know it's not their fault. If they got screwed by the building or insurance or an athletic commission, or something like that, I'm sure they'd be shouting it out so people didn't get pissed at them. Them saying "unforseen circumstances" is not good.

LOL.

Court said they called the show because of poor ticket sales, because it was a new area. Plus the Jacksonville scene is dead. No indies really run there. Oh well, I bet they cancel the November show in Dallas, for the Jacksonville show in NOV. Then continue schelede as is
