MrRant Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 CINCINNATI -- Disgruntled running back Corey Dillon said Wednesday he wants out of Cincinnati, an outburst that represents the first direct challenge of coach Marvin Lewis. The Bengals (2-4) have won two of their last three games by relying on their passing game while Dillon recovers from a strained groin, leaving the running back in a bad mood. As he walked into the locker room on Wednesday, Dillon said aloud, "I want out. Trade me to Dallas." When reporters approached, Dillon shooed them away, saying, "Beat it. I don't like you guys." He then told the team's Web site employee and a reporter from the Dayton Daily News that he's unhappy with his limited role and desperately wants to leave. "When I'm healthy, I still don't get the ball over 20 times a game," Dillon said. "So it really doesn't matter, healthy or unhealthy." During his seven-year career, Dillon has repeatedly groused that he doesn't get the ball enough. Dillon is one of only four players in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first four seasons. "Do I feel a little bit stepped on? Yeah, I do," Dillon said. "Have I been feeling this way for a long time? Yes, I have. It has nothing to do with the new regime here, the coaches. This boils back to '97, and it's been like this for a long time with me." Dillon has been Lewis' biggest problem in the locker room since he took over as head coach last January. Dillon was the only regular to skip a voluntary minicamp, and the only player to show up late for the start of training camp. Dillon's outburst couldn't have come at a worse time for Lewis. The Bengals are coming off a 34-26 victory over Baltimore that moved them back into contention in the AFC North. ------------------------------------------ If they can pull this off before Seattle plays them then that would be a plus.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 How many more years does he have on his contract? In a way I can't blame him due to all the ineptitude he's faced while in Cincy, but come on Corey. I think the Bengals have turned the corner and will be competitive in another year or so (Heck, they might be competitive now in the weak AFC North)...
LaParkaMarka Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Didn't the NFL trading deadline already pass?
Fökai Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Week Six was the trading deadline. I'd assume they'd have to go through the waiver wire to make the deal.
Guest Flyboy Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Dillion to Dallas? ... Whoa. Hello, playoffs.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 What the hell, he had a chance to get out a few years ago, but decided to resign. Why would he do this when they are actually improving and have a real coach?
Dangerous A Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Why Dallas, Corey? I hope he tears something in his knee now. Fucker.
Guest El Satanico Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Because Dallas would benefit the most from a star RB. Also because he knows he'd get ALOT of touches from Parcells. With a star RB, Dallas could become a legit contender over night.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Why does he decide he wants out when the Bengals are actually on an upswing and looking to be playoff bound in another season or two. Heck they could win the North this season.
Kahran Ramsus Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Dillon is 29 years old. He has one step in the football grave already (like George, Martin & Faulk). I'd rather have Hambrick.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Dillon is 29 years old. He has one step in the football grave already (like George, Martin & Faulk). I'd rather have Hambrick. Curtis Martin and Eddie George are already burried...I thought getting Eddie George in the 6th round was a good Fantasy thing but except for one week he's been a bust. Good thing some impatient dumbass tossed William Green away so I have another back to go with Ricky Williams(Mia not Ind)
Human Fly Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I have read reports that the Bengals are thinking about cutting him at the end of this season anyway. If they could get something for him in some kind of a waiver deal (a 3rd round pick maybe) they should go for it. He's done nothing for us, and I do question his durability (which I guess makes me one of the reasons he wants out). As pointed out already Dillon is getting close to a bad age for running backs. He has carried the load for us for many years, but also faced 8 man fronts and been beat up those years as well. It's nothing against him, your body is just not built to take that kind of punishment.
the pinjockey Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Fuck Dillon. He had his chance to escape via FA and didn't. Throw in the fact he is the king of the 200 yard game followed by the 20 yard game. He killed me last year.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Hell I'm all for him leaving if it means the Bengals get Hambrick and then use the money for an upgrade or two on the O and D lines.
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Dillon can't stand the fact Lewis created a system that can win without him, This bullshit about him not getting enough carries is just that Bullshit, he gets the ball every damn play for his 1.2 yrd gains. Dillon isn't liked at all in Cincy, and with the emergence of Warrick and Johnson, we could give two shits about Dillon. Yes Dillon is unquestionably a great running back but egocentric injury prone prick... Dallas has always been great for egomanaics, so Dillon can fuck off there...
Gert T Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Go work at McDonald's, except oh they didn't offer you 5 years and 27 million dollars. I believe Corey has two years left after this year. It's Corey blowing off steam to get more carries, and maybe Marvin would play him more if he wasn't injured so much which probably has a lot more to do with skipping the mini-camps than the bad turf.
Vern Gagne Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Stephen Jackson from Oregon St. would look nice a Bengals uniform next season. Big, Strong, and fast. Plus he's 8 years younger than Dillon.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Funny that he picks now, in what will probably be the Bengals' best season of their last 10, to want to be mad and leave..
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 No one remembers the bengals went 8-8 three seasons ago with Boomer and had a a handful of 6-10 seasons...they tend to focus on the 2-14 and the 3-13 seasons... Bengals will go 7-9 Im sure...
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 I'm still wondering what makes him so sure Bill Parcells would want him on his team
Guest El Satanico Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Because he would. Parcells above all else wants to run the ball, and I doubt he's pleased with Hambrick's output. If he gets the chance to get a star RB he'll do it.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Ya but does he want Dillon to be that star RB when Dillon has done nothing but complain the past few years. Parcells would eat him alive
Guest El Satanico Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Well playing for Cincy for 8 horrible years would make anyone a tad bitchy. I don't think he'd have a problem with Parcells. Well no more of a problem than any player has with Parcells. Jerry Rice would have problems playing for Parcells. Of course Parcells would need to have several meetings to see if all of this is really just a product of being in Cincy or if there's a real problem.
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 well, He did have those problems in High School and Washington as well...So I highly doubt it's a product of being in Cincy... Dillon is known to be selfish and hardly signs autographs and hardly acknowledges the fans... Parcells no doubt would love his caliber as Hambrick isn't what he wants but hey, He tamed L.T for a good 6-7 years...Dillon would be a walk in the park
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Why...Kordell is too stupid to hand the ball over to someone in navy blue... "Uh-Huh...You is supposed to give it to the guys in WHITE! That's what my mama told me!"
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 The bears sucking is 96% the fault of the worst playcalling and coaching staff in the league. Then it's 3% Kordell Stupid, and 1% rickety Offensive line.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 If Dillon goes to a team like the Bears, I've got a good feeling that they'd never play him properly, and completely deviate from everytihng the guy's good at, thus, they'd get mercifully shitcanned. Dick Jauron needs to be made into polish sausage and fed to the superfans.
Guest Choken One Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Dillon should just finish the season and then Cincy can trade his ass for a solid RB and/or a #1 round draft pick...
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 Why would you want Dillion when Anthony Thomas has been playing well this season?
