Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 25, 2003 How did Weaver suck all the sudden? Or was it all an Illiusion from the start because I remember him being kinda good at some point
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 25, 2003 How did Weaver suck all the sudden? Or was it all an Illiusion from the start because I remember him being kinda good at some point Weaver, since becoming a Yankee, has been a mess. He's had a glimmer of hope every once in a while, but he would just follow that with a Weaver Special and get booed off the mound.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 25, 2003 The Tiger's park is very pitcher friendly with it being harder to get HRs.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but doesn't Tigers park have the shortest homeruns in the entire league down the foul lines?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 25, 2003 thats the old stadium...Comerica Park is like 500 feet for a home run almost...

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Weaver's not cut out for New York. If a team like Anaheim signs him I think he'll pitch like he did for the Tigers in 2002. As for the Twins. Wave goodbye to Hawkins, and Guardado. For some reason Corey Koskie was given a 4.5 milion option was picked up. That almost makes it certain Hawkins, and Guardado are gone. The rotation should be good. Radke, Milton, Santana, and Lohse. With someone like J.D. Durbin has the 5th starter. The Lineup should look the same for the most part. Stewart will be gone. So Jones moves back the Left, i'm guessing Cuddyer will get the first crack at RF, but Ryan will get an opportunity has well. AJ Pierzynski is a mystery at this point. Rumors had him being trade for bullpen help which the Twins will almost certainly need. Considering Pierzynski is arbitration eligible, and with budget concerns, and with Joe Mauer waiting in the wings. A trade might be necessary, and warranted in the long run. You don't like to enter the season with a 20-21 year old, but he's going to your catcher eventually. May has well trade Pierzynski at what might be is peak, and help the team in the process. Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I suggested he should play for a small market team Not Cincy because that's the LAST place he should go because even Corey Dillon launched a monster shot at that park.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 The Mets should look at Weaver. Shea is a pitcher's park and the Mets don't get the coverage the Yankees do. Also being in the NL may help...especially since the NL East is going to lose alot of their power hitters to free agency this off-season. Here's to hoping George goes crazy and trades Weaver for one of the Mets dying veterans
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I brought up Weaver's contract in the WS thread. Weaver is due $6.25 M in 2004, and $9.25 M in 2005. How many teams are willing to take that risk?
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I bet the Tigers will still lose 110 games, Mike Illitch isn't going to do hardly anything off season except sign maybe the cheapest of free agents.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I bet the Tigers will still lose 110 games, Mike Illitch isn't going to do hardly anything off season except sign maybe the cheapest of free agents. I could see Greg Maddux going there. He'd be a hell of a leader for the Maroths and Bondermans of the club
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Maddux would be a great fit in Detroit but Illitch barely has enough money to sign the cheapest free agents. Besides I think Maddux (Along with Big Fat Boomer Wells) are heading west to San Diego- if that should happen than the NL West will be one fucking good division. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Padres won't be taking either of them. They have alot of good young starting pitching in their system. If anything I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after bullpen help to get to Hoffman. I also heard one of the major FAs the Padres are looking at is Luis Castillo. I don't know about most but I wouldn't want to face an order of Castillo Burroughs Giles Nevin Klesko
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Apprently it's somewhat a lock that wells will sign with San Diego as it's home town or something but I couldn't put him with that loud mouth with a bunch of young rising pitchers...Maddux on the other hand Yes I would. Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 If David Wells goes to San Diego are we going to start a pool on what day of the season he'll have a heart attack in? 39 or 40 years old, extremely out of shape, and in the blazing heat of Cali? I'd say mid July
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 25, 2003 just because you are fat it doesn't mean you will have have a heart attack...look at ruth, Kruk and other fat baseball players over the years...
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Don't forget "El Guapo" Rich Garces and Rod Beck (Surprisingly decent closer of the aforementioned Padres). I think The Padres in the next few years will stop becoming the jobber of the NL West and become competitive again. The Rockies on the other hand...
Guest T_Hunt Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Ok i promise you the twins will keep Stewart. THye dont have much money but they have to know that if they want to win they will find room for him.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Borowski was great considering that he's not a real closer and basically voluntered to take on the undesirable task. He'd work well elsehwere in the pen, but I think it's time to go find a guy who would be more fit for the position. Farnsworth and Remlinger are the only other two mainstays in the pen and I expect to see them both back next season, which isn't all bad, since they werent' nearly as terrible as some of the other guys in the pen. It's encouraging to know that they're already addressing the bullpen situation, since that's the area that was really lacking for the Cubs this season. Speaking of pitching, let's look at the starting rotation. At the moment, you've got Wood, Prior, Zambrano, and Clement who are more or less sure to be back next season, barring an injury or transaction. Unless Zambrano gets hurt, I expect him to start to become as effective, if not more so, than Prior. That fifth spot belonged to Estes most of the season, with Juan Cruz taking over near the end of the season. Although neither guy is that great, I'd go with Cruz who's still young enough and shows more promise than Estes, who's never going to be a really good pitcher. If Mitre comes around, he may just get that fifth spot, as he didn't do too badly in his two starts for the Cubs this season. I think Estes is pretty much out of it now, and they're going to work on building Cruz up. Farnsworth will never amount to anything until he gets released from the Cubs, natch. So I'd bet the rotation is Wood-Prior-Zambrano-Clement-Cruz, barring transactions or the off chance that Clement improves to #3. Otherwise, 1B Choi or Simon, I don't see Karros back either 2B Grudzelsomethingorother 3B Ramirez SS Gonzalez barring transaction C Miller and Bako LF Patterson or Alooooouuuuu CF Lofton RF Sosa Also, predictions for how teams finish: NL West: SF, LA, ARI, SD, COL NL Central: CHC, STL, HOU, MIL, PIT, CIN NL East: MTL, ATL, FLA, PHI, NYM AL West: OAK, SEA, TEX, CAL AL Central: CHW, KC, MIN, CLE, DET AL East: TOR, NYY, BOS, BAL, TB

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2003 Ok i promise you the twins will keep Stewart. THye dont have much money but they have to know that if they want to win they will find room for him. There's questions about how much he wants to stay in Minnesota. The dome being the main reason. Besides, I wouldn't break the bank for the guy. If someone like New York, or Seattle offers 7 million let him go. White Sox won't finish ahead of the Twins. Especially if they hire 3 time reject Buddy Bell has manager. The Twins will have a better staring staff, and the lineup will be similiar to this years.
