World Class Championship Wrestling

Anyone out there ever watch the now-defunct World Class Championship Wrestling (Fritz Von Erich's old promotion in Dallas)?

 

It was really thriving in the early 80's with stars like: The Von Erich boys, Kamala, The Freebirds, Jake Roberts, Kabuki, Jimmy Garvin, and many more.

 

I've got a lot of great childhood memories about WCCW, and just wondered if anyone else remembers it.

Kevin and Kerry Von Erichs incredible fedu with the Dynamic Dup Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams, wild matches, rabid crowds and just great interviews..

The blow off match at the 1985 Cotton Bowl hair vs hair was off the charts.

The interviews and build up on TV rocked, you really can't get much better than that feud.

i used to watch wccw on espn every day...lots of great memories. i remember some match where somebody won a car and then afterwards the one man gang destroyed the car haha.

Eh....all i remember are the gay ass Simpson brothers stinking it up in the ring.

 

 

Oh, and I saw the great Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair championship match where Kerry wins live.

I don't think OMG even got to the car. It seems like Kerry and/or Kevin intercepted him and just when it all looked calm......Gino swiped OMG's chain that David Manning was carrying....and then Gino and Chris set about smashing the windshield in.

 

I think Kevin had won it by getting the final pin in a 10 man tag at the Cotton Bowl.

 

I hated David Manning...he'd always come down to ringside and friggin reverse all the heel's wins into dqs. Didn't they hold up the American title between Jimmy Garvin and David Von Erich 4 or 5 times?

 

Anyway, Chris Adams was my favorite thing about World Class and Kevin was the only Von Erich I liked.

I saw wccw one day back when i was like 4 so this was like 1989 and it was pretty shitty i dont know if im confusing it with awa, but i remember seeing it at least once
