Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 DMB--Crush, Crash Into Me, #41, Say Goodbye Impressive. Are you a fan, like me? #41 and Crush are really good for meaningful shit. The other two are good if you ignore their messages. What's so bad about Crash? Space Between is another good DMB choice I guess. They have a lot of these sappy kindsa songs don't they? The other two are good if you ignore their messages. I'm not like an uber DMB fan or anything, but yes, I do enjoy their music. And "Say Goodbye" does have a somewhat...depressing...message in a way, but at the same time, it's an awesome song and just the sound of it can set the mood as long as you're not paying attention to the words and really thinking about what those words are saying. "Crash Into Me," to me, is just a very sexual song, but once again, the music and the sound really set the mood more than anything else. Actually, you can really just pop in a DMB CD and play it all the way through, because at some point you stop really paying attention to the words and it becomes more of a sound in the background thing, and something about that music just oozes sex (at least it does to me, I might be weird...). Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I *could* suggest some really good country, but I just know those would all get shot down. Well that depends. If it's any of that CMT shit, I don't want any part of it, and I think I can speak for everyone else on the board as well.

That's exactly what I was going for. Both songs are very sexy, and if you selectively listen to them, they're perfect for the mood. I think Crash the album is great... Crash, #41, Say Goodbye, Let You Down, they're all perfect. What's so bad about Crash? Crash really is about a stalker watching a girl. But like stardust said, the overall effect is what's important. Guest stardust Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I *could* suggest some really good country, but I just know those would all get shot down. Well that depends. If it's any of that CMT shit, I don't want any part of it, and I think I can speak for everyone else on the board as well. That's why I was keeping my mouth shut. Although there are some really good Texas singers/songwriters (country) that don't get played on CMT that have some damn good stuff (well, Pat Green does, but that's really it), and Cross Canadian Ragweed is just now starting to get played on CMT. At any rate, though, I won't suggest a damned bit of country.

And hey, Sarah McLachlan also wrote a song about a stalker, which most people also take as being a love song.

I guess because it seems so cliched to me. Well, that and I still to this day have this mental image of one of my friends deciding to strip to that song, which has forever burned a very painful scar in my memory. Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted October 30, 2003 And hey, Sarah McLachlan also wrote a song about a stalker, which most people also take as being a love song. Same deal with the Police's "Every Breath You Take" and REM's "Losing my Religion" both of which were the bands' biggest hits. Stalkers=ratings.

Well 9 times out of 10 if you can't score to that you have no business scoring. Isley Brothers are another one. I just like Janet's "Would You Mind" simply because the whole song is about sex and sex acts.

I just like Janet's "Would You Mind" simply because the whole song is about sex and sex acts. Well, said friend certainly didn't score that night, so I guess that means he just had no business scoring. But with a song like that, it's the song that everybody goes to and uses. Maybe I'm weird for thinking that a little originality and creativity is good when choosing mood music, and not relying on something that is a song that honestly does not make me want to get it on. I think it's probably the fact that every guy I know who uses that song uses it with this over-blown confidence that, if he plays "Let's Get On," he will be getting some that night, and yet those same guys end up not getting any at all. Clearly the song DOES serve its purpose and does inspire people to get it on, otherwise it wouldn't still be so popular today; BUT I also tend to think that deviating from the expected and coming up with something different is a lot more impressive than popping in a Barry White CD because, hey, you're *supposed* to get laid to it. I'm honestly not sure if that made any sense, but I'm doped up on cold medicine right now.
Guest The TRUE Fonzie Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Maybe I'm weird for thinking that a little originality and creativity is good when choosing mood music, That ain't the least bit near crazyville. When you're an original, you're golden. Look Fonzie. Dere's been a lotta screws wanting to go low on the uptake, but there ain't but never been the one true. So's enough of the small talkin'. Now that we acquinted...innimately...how about you give Fonzie some nudie pictures of yuz, packaged real discretiously in a omvelope. And you needs to write "NUDIE PICTURES" on it, uddahwise I mights assume it's some garbage from the guvahment tellin' me to squeak their grease with some tax money. Dat junk goes straight into the nearest sewer grate wid all da resta my trash. And not relying on something that is a song that honestly does not make me want to get it on. Rely on Fonz, baby. I think it's probably the fact that every guy I know who uses that song uses it with this over-blown confidence that, if he plays "Let's Get On," he will be getting some that night, and yet those same guys end up not getting any at all.
