Guest Just J Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 For all you whining little bitches who have been moaning and groaning about my OaO NBA Season thread... FUCK OFF! Stop trashing up every thread in Sports about it and do it here. Every time I click a thread about basketball one of you little girls are complaining. Well, do it here.
Dangerous A Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I'm not complaining. I said so myself in the thread. I am just here to pimp my new TSM NBA column, "The NBA Beat" by "Dangerous" Thomas Amey Jr!! Opinions and feedback, please.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Yay! It's the return of "Johnson The Whiny Little Bitch" NHB was dull without you bro!

justsoyouknow Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I don't see how a OaO NBA Season thread is any different than a OaO Buffy Season thread.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I've been waiting for this Mr J character to get stale, and for the fraternity cop watcher to come back.
justsoyouknow Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Alright, who had October 27th for the pool?
Guest Just J Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I don't see how a OaO NBA Season thread is any different than a OaO Buffy Season thread. That's is a very good point. Why don't you convey that to some of your counterparts.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Can't you just ignore them, Johnson?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Can't you just ignore them, Johnson? New Me thinks logically? OMG~!
Guest The Old Me Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Sorry. BAN PLZ~ 4 using Logik!!!!!!!!
Zack Malibu Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 the fraternity cop watcher Didn't USA have a show about guys like that about 6-7 years ago?
Guest Just J Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Can't you just ignore them, Johnson? I did. I started the thread three days ago and people are still whining about it and in more then one thread. It's just mind numbing how ignorant some people are.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 So, what's the deal? I don't wanna go through a load of basketball threads to find out.
the pinjockey Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Let's see Buffy = very narrow topic in a very broad folder NBA = very broad topic in a narrower folder Over the course of an NBA season there are going to be many big stories that are not worth going through the one and only for and mixing in the normal goings on of the season. Christ, if we had OaO threads for sports, there would only be five or six threads max.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Okay, whiny bitches ragging on Johnson, please shut the fuck up. You don't like the thread, stay out of the fucking thread.

Christ, if we had OaO threads for sports, there would only be five or six threads max. And? I think that one thread should be all you need, apart from major exceptions. Plus it'll keep the conversation going on track for a long time. Although it gets nowhere near as much traffic, the OAO soccer thread is a good example, as everyone knows where to go to gloat and bitch about the sport. Johnson is right in this case. If you don't wanna post there about major issues, start a new thread. But it saves wasting bandwidth on trivial threads which could just go into one.

Christ, if we had OaO threads for sports, there would only be five or six threads max. Narrow topic? Broad Folder? The topic is about a season of a show...the folder is about movies, DVD, and Television. That's three criteria for this "narrow topic" to fall under. This famed "NBA thread" is...about a season...in a folder called "Sports". One option. Sports is a much narrower thread. And as far as big stories go, the most that's going to happen is the discussion of stats, win/loss records, etc, plus the occasional posting of results. Tell me how this is different than "BUFFY JOBBED TO SPIKE AGAYNE!11!" "Well, she'll get her revenge, since she's magic and crap." It's not.

The first response in the thread was "already posted in the OaO" thus killing the conversation in the thread. That is a major story that might have had discussion, but no one is going to want to go to the one and only, mixing it in with other stuff. If it was just going to be a OaO NBA chatter, what's going on in games tonight thread, then that is fine. But it won't happen. The first major story thread not posted in the OaO, was already told it was in the OaO.

I dunno what the Kobe/Shaq story is, but if it's gonna go on for more than a few days, then it deserves it's own thread. Otherwise it'll just get lost in the mix before people get the chance to find it and have their say.
the pinjockey Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 It wasn't Johnson who said the "alread posted" bit. Don't want to make him sound like a dick for that.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 You know, if this OaO thread was started here, I wouldn't tolerate anyone bashing it.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 You know, if this OaO thread was started here, I wouldn't tolerate anyone bashing it. Subtle as a brick.
Fökai Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 But, take the Shaq vs. Kobe thread for example. The first response in the thread was "already posted in the OaO" thus killing the conversation in the thread. The first major story thread not posted in the OaO, was already told it was in the OaO. Which is pretty much my only complaint. If we refrain from posting "thread-worthy" news in the Season thread, we can distinguish between what goes in the OaO thread (discussion of teams, upcoming games, trade rumors) and what deserves their own thread (Shaq v. Kobe). Sorry to bust your chops, Johnson. Take this as an official apology for the first post I made in that thread.
Guest Just J Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 I won't be "that guy" if a big story gets it's own thread. I started the thread for people like me. People who are basketball fans and want to discuss the every day goings on of the NBA.
Guest The Old Me Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 This sounds like it should work.
