Michrome Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I have a source that's going to be messaging me live results from Elizabeth this saturday, I'll be posting them at the smarkschoice forum for those interested in reading them as they come in.
Nevermortal Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 But we're better than Smarkchoice. Post them here, you.....brigand.
tpww7 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 I'm pissed that the ROH tag titles are being treated like they are. Briscoes are the new champs.
tpww7 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Other results so far, BTW are: Dan Maff defeated Colt Cabana in a field of honor match, forcing a 3-way. The result came in at 7:46, so it was probably a 12-13 minute match. Xavier and Nigel won the Pure Wrestling Tag Team Challenge. I got this in at around 8:09, so it looks like it was a long match. Matt Stryker defeated Justin Credible Homicide defeated BJ Whitmer. The Briscoes defeated Special K.
Guest OSIcon Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 I'm pissed that the ROH tag titles are being treated like they are. Briscoes are the new champs. I don't mind it. The mentality that all title reigns need to a certain length or else the title is "devalued" has some wholes. If a boxing championship or any competitive title changes hands quite a bit, how does that devalue the championship? All it does is show that there is a ton of competition in the sport or division. I fail to see how that would be any different in wrestling. Obviously, there are limits, but I really don't think ROH is exceeding them. It just creates the scenario of a really competitive division. It gives the feeling that the titles could change hands on any given night because all the teams are at a really equal level. The thing is, once that illusion is created, then you keep the belts on a team for a little while. Of course, near falls should be more over because you now have the fans thinking that the belts could change hands at any given point. If you know every title reign is going to last at least 3 or 4 title defenses, the excitment of the match is lessened. Plus, it just isn't realistic.
tpww7 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Roddy Piper is coming to ROH. And Backseats win the Scramble Cage.
tpww7 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 CM Punk and Steve Corino both win the 4-way somehow.
Mecha Mummy Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Roddy Piper in RoH? This can't end well.
Guest OSIcon Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 The announcement on Piper was concerning the first legend signed to be part of ROH's fanfest/convention before the 3/13 Elizabeth, NJ show (the day before Wrestlemania). He's not, as far as they are saying now, going to be part of the actual show.
Guest ToddRoyal Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Jack Evans. He's one of the "Hart Dungeon next generation" kids with Teddy, Harry Smith and TJ Wilson. Apparently, he and Teddy were announced as "Hart Foundation 2003" Hopefully this means AJ Vs. Joe for the belt in Wakefield, though some reports have the 4 way being for a future title shot too, so who knows. I hope they do AJ/Joe in Wakefield, and do a Punk/Corino #1 contender's trophy match as well, and not a 4-way for the belt. I love ROH 4-ways an all, but not for the belt. The other possibility is to have AJ defend the #1 Contender's trophy against Punk and Corino in Fairfield, and the winner face Joe in Wakefield. Either way, should be awesome. Can't wait to see Dragon/Styles II on tape.
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Fun factoid- the Briscoes are now officially the Road Warriors/Dudley Boyz of indy wrestling- they're the only team to ever hold the CZW, ROH and Wildside tag team titles.
