Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 I hate it when something is released on DVD, then months later it's rendered obsolete by a "special" edition or whatever. It's just as bad when DVDs are released seperately, than later released as one package, for less money. Right?
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 Yes, but you aren't supposed to like it, you're supposed to buy it. As long as people spend money on it, it will be done.
Guest cpac Report post Posted November 3, 2003 That is nothing. My local sam goody has the hulk for 27 dollars while the circuit city has it for 16. OOO and the steal cage matches dvd from wwe is 30 bucks at sam goody. I cant stand people who spend their money at that place. What suckers.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 3, 2003 If the movie has a good following or is a big mainstream movie and has no or very little extras, don't buy it. I don't buy a DVD if I'm not pleased with the total package. If I bought a DVD that I was pleased with and they release a new DVD, I won't buy it unless it's a major improvement. I will double dip if the movie is good enough, but so far I haven't. I probably will get the Army of Darkness 2-disc edition even though I've got the director's cut already, but I don't know if that counts or not
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 So how many versions of Lord of the Rings have you bought? It has what 3 different versions of the DVD out, so did you get the 2 DVD, 4 DVD, or the 5 DVD set?

BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 horror movies tend to be big on releasing multiple editions...especially ones from Anchor Bay, how many different versions of Halloween was released? yeesh
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 3, 2003 In horror only Halloween and Army of Darkness have received alot of DVD releases. The LOTR releases are a different thing all together. Each version has different features and all of them are full of extra, so it's not really screwing the average fan. The 4 and 5(don't remember that) disc sets are for the hardcore fans. The two disc set is for the casual fans.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 Plus, LOTR isn't screwing you over because they advertised both editions well in advance.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 There's only a 2-Disc and a 4-Disc LOTR set. As for everything else, if I think they'll be a double dip in the future, I won't get it. Except for Scarface. That I doubled on purposely. Dames

Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 And how much do you want to bet that sometime in 2005, after the two obligatory ROTK sets have been released, that a huge LOTR trilogy collection will be released?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 3, 2003 Oh there's no doubt that they will eventually release a complete LOTR collection. I don't plan on buying it, unless there's some amazing extras or it comes in great packaging
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 There's only a 2-Disc and a 4-Disc LOTR set. 5 Disc It came with either bookends or something at $59.99+

It's just as bad when DVDs are released seperately, than later released as one package, for less money. Right? This is nothing compared to what it was like in the early days of DVDs. Nothing was worse than all those bare-bone DVDs getting rereleased with what passes as standard extras these days.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 That's why I don't buy the initial DVD. I wait a couple of months or whatever until they come out with the "Special Edition" or "Director's Cut" or whatever the fuck else to try to shell out more money from you. PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted November 3, 2003 I hate that, As it sometimes keeps you from buying a movie you really like because you know a really great version will be out someday (Like the old barebones Pulp Fiction DVD) and you don't want to have to buy it twice. DVD companies are evil that way. Anchor BAy and their 10 million versions the Evil Dead and Halloween Series especially
Guest Just J Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Oh there's no doubt that they will eventually release a complete LOTR collection. I have one, but I am not sure what version it is.
Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Versions of Halloween (I'm guessing the years): 1998: Barebones disc with shitty transfer from Anchor Bay. 2000: Special Edition with hour-long documentary and a few more extras from Anchor Bay; two covers exist-one holographic and one plain. 2001: Halloween: TV Version. Includes film cell. 2003: New two-disc SE from Anchor Bay. Includes commentary and AMC Backlot documentary.

Mole 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 Dazed and Confussed is the worst DVD I have ever bought. The extras are production notes and director notes. THAT'S IT! Thank GoD I love the movie, or I would be very pissed off.
