Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I started watching TNA in June, with Tenay and West. But I've heard that Zybysko used to be a commentator too. Why isn't he commentating anymore, and was he any good?
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Zbysko never commentated with TNA, he had a brief feud with AJ Styles and a scuffle with Kid Kash, and that's about it. He hasn't commentated since WCW in 2000, I think. As for why they don't get him to commentate, it's because West is probably cheaper and gives them a different feel. Having Tenay and Zbysko would just sound like WCW Thunder.
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Oh, because I heard Tenay say that Zybysko was his former broadcast partner. Sorry for the double post. I keep getting this "Board Message" so I have to repost and repost.

Styles 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Nope. Zybysko never was a TNA commentator. Him and Teny did WCW Thunder "back in the day" though. I must say when Zybysko was on Nitro and the fans would chant "Larry" and Tony was running down the card, and Larry would just get up and become mesmorized towards the audience. It was hilarious because you could see Tony getting pissed off. What you might be thinking of also is Ed Ferrera (former Vince Russo lackey/writer) who was part of a 3 man announce team for I think the first 8 weeks with Tenay and West before getting into some conflict and quitting. EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Another reason is because Zbysko was a terrible commentator... Yeah no kidding. I swear Zbysko talked about everything but, the match. He's ex-wives, make sexist remakes, talk about his golf, talk about the game of human chess and, of course, talk about his 20 GLORIOUS years in wrestling. Pissed me off to no end. I never thought Tony was the worst one I thought Larry was the worst one.

Kardo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 What's worse is how he would endlessly put down the crusierweights and some wrestlers. Just because they didn't endlessly stall, actually get a crowd reaction and get pushes without having to marry the owners daughter didn't mean you had to be spiteful Larry. Guest Coffey Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Larry Zbyszko is the reason why my dad quit watching wrestling. He would always make stupid fucking comments trying to compare professional wrestling to some of the greatest moments in sporting history. "Ric Flair winning the title again is like Mark McGuire breaking the single season home run record." "Hogan/Flair is our sports Ali/Frazier." My dad actually liked some pretty decent wrestlers too. He marked for Vader and Cactus Jack. Then again, he liked Rick Steiner a lot too.
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Rick Steiner was great up until about 1998. He only REALLY started sucking when he turned heel and feuded with Sting and put attack dogs after him and then kept teaming with Sid in Nitro Main Events against Hogan and Hart and Luger. He also could have maybe, just maybe, broken kayfabe WHEN LOUIE SPICCOLI DIED rather than basically saying that he deserved it (they were "feuding" at the time) on Nitro (or was it Thunder?). -=Mike
EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 The sad thing is people did chant Larry... I think it had more to do with Larry standing up to the over as heels NWO then having anything to do with Larry himself. I think it had more to do with him standing up to the evil NWO then it had anything to do with Larry himself. What's worse is how he would endlessly put down the crusierweights and some wrestlers. Just because they didn't endlessly stall, actually get a crowd reaction and get pushes without having to marry the owners daughter didn't mean you had to be spiteful Larry. Hmm does anyone else think that after it's all said and done HHH is going to end up like Larry Z? He also could have maybe, just maybe, broken kayfabe WHEN LOUIE SPICCOLI DIED rather than basically saying that he deserved it (they were "feuding" at the time) on Nitro (or was it Thunder?). It was both. It was when Louie was Scott Hall's lackey and he was trying to get into the NWO. Larry and Louie were going to have a match on PPV before Louie died. I remember the first Nitro after he died Tony asked if Larry had something to say about Louie and Larry answered "No Comment".
